I would love to have Ryan Young commit to Rutgers. He has played well in the BIG 10 and uses his body well around the basket and knows how to score. He is also a Jersey guy. Let's bring him home!!! I also would love to land Sessons who I think is from Philadelphia. These guys both played in the BIG 10 and would know what to expect. We can make this happen.
I would love it too but RU isn’t getting a big transfer at the 5. These guys want to start/play big mins. That’s not happening here.
Young would be the starting C at Northwestern this year if he returned. So who knows.

For those that missed the Knight Report podcast about the Yazeed Haynes commitment to Rutgers this week, there was a short mention of how the transfer portal is now the chief recruiting process for Coach Pike. It sounded like not just for this year. Rutgers coaches wanting to see a bigger body of work and more developed college players as compared to taking more of a chance with high school kids.
It would be awesome. Knows the style and teams. He's a very solid player. Almost too good to be true.

The official way the teams are rated is through their seeding. Just casually thinking about it, the Big Ten has mostly performed as expected according to their seeding. We got 9 teams in, but mostly in mid and lower seedings. It's a conference with a high floor and strong middle, but no single dominant team. So how is that overrated?

But actually I wouldn’t be interested. His numbers have steadily and consistently gone in the wrong direction over the last few years.
I just assume we have no chance with top top guys like this. He's going to go to a title contender (or at least a Final Four contender) over a perceived rebuilding year I'd imagine.
Word on streets is Pike is looking at transfers and not freshman which to me says he's trying to reload not rebuild
I think he knows how good Cliff will be and out of respect wants to get him a good supporting cast
Simple. People in this forum think it was the best conference in college basketball this year when that’s clearly not the case. Let of the nation already knows that.
Reload via portal and crush it with Cliff to help show continued success even without Geo Ron and Caleb to these recruits. Then sell them as the next era that can come in and get early PT
How do you define best conference?
B1G is clearly the best conference top to bottom with the most good teams. 9 tournament teams. No other conference compares.
No one is saying the B1G has the best team overall, but that is an odd way to determine the best conference.
For me, the "best" conference factors in every team and there really is no equal to the B1G
But if they are not 5th year seniors or one year players then someone will have to leave for HS players too. Hence a balancing act.

I think so too. But I think it will be more on the Marcus Hammond, Princeton guards level. Not even sure we may be in the Ryan Young sweepstakes as he could be a really good piece for a NC contender.
My biggest concern with this plan is we need to sign the next recruits (high school variety) this fall, before more games are played. So they will need to be convinced by how we look with portal signings. It is going to be scary if we are only counting on the portal every year. I want some home grown guys too.
