2022-23 Transfer Watch

Correct to a point, but still too many upsets of well seeded Big 10 teams. Iowa, IL, Wisconsin and Purdue all lost to worse-seeded teams And did not look good in doing so!
Until Illinois and Purdue lost I think you could have made the case that the seedings were holding. But those two were the nails in the coffin for conference pride this year.

Houston is a legit Top 10-15 team so no shame for Illi losing that game. Perdue Boys losing to St Peters was ridiculous--Cinderella story or not.

I expect Andre Curbelo to enter the transfer portal. He needs a fresh start, a reset.

Poor kid missed half the season with a severe concussion from which he still has symptoms, had the flu, had covid, had an ankle injury, even had pinkeye during the Big Ten tourney.

I think he goes closer to home. Great talent. Just a lost year.

Played his junior year at Hudson Catholic. Rutgers was his first offer but not sure how much we pursued.

Here's a curious one considering the role increase he'd be up for with Ivey and Stefanovic leaving, plus his older brother was a 4 year Purdue player and graduate assistant coach.

COVID, the flu AND pinkeye? He may need to change his off-court habits a tad lol!

You can’t worry about the three-point shooting percentage from a guy like him. He’s one of the best creators out there and pushes play. Would love to have him.

Imagine what Curbelo and Cliff could do together. It would be a thing of beauty. Not sure that would make up for his out of control playing style at times, although the staff seemed to have success with that on JY.

I heard @Greene Rice FIG is putting together an NIL deal to land Curbelo
I'll be honest. I actually wondered what my thoughts would be if he came here. He definitely has talent.

I contacted Skinny Vinnies and the owner graciously said if Andre would be a spokesperson and hand out flyers in front of Brower Commons he could get a free pizza every week.

Those Terry Roberts numbers really make me wish we’d offered him as a JUCO last year. Know we expressed a fair amount of interest — would’ve been real nice to have another true point off the bench as opposed to Miller (who likely could’ve used a full development year)

Yeah this is interesting because he actually looked really good last year and this year he was limited and sloppy but for good reasons. I would say he’s a take for sure. A 4 star from NYC. He doesn’t okay Pike ball or so we think but something tells me Pike is the type of coach who would adapt to a guy like this.

I wouldn’t have Curbelo super high on my list and if he did come here I’d want him coming off the bench in a JY-type role TBH

Want hammonds bad along with the laf center for a back up.

Curbelo is very obviously going to StJohns any offense he’d thrive in imo if he tones down the and1 mixtape passes a bit. Think we’d do wonders with him here ala JY who arrived out of control but with insane talent.

“Very obviously??”

A lot of hints in my opinion online + his bff is Pinson. Offense conducive to his style etc. just my thinking. Maybe very obvious wasn’t the right wording. I just think it’s going to happen.

To win titles and championships, get talented players. That's the hardest part. It's the coach & staff's job to make it work. Curbelo passes the eye test for talented player.
