2023-24 Coaching Carousel

Sherrone Moore will be taking one of the open jobs.
My guess Indiana because he knows the B1G and the Midwest recruiting round.
Or maybe Houston because it wasn't that long ago he played for Oklahoma and
his name might open recruiting doors in the Texas Oklahoma area.
A long shot for both probably, but he's a name brand now and it might be a case of a school going after him because of that and not wanting to pay top dollar because of the buyouts they just became liable for
Moore might settle for real good money and long term , but not what the top tier candidates would demand

A fair amount of Twitter chatter that A&M revolted at the prospect of Mark Stoops, similar to the UT revolt against Greg years ago. Seeing Jedd Fisch's name being floated by some Aggie sources, but nothing concrete:

Read this article on The Athletic about Ryan Day being a wildcard for the Aggies.

Yes I saw that yesterday and Feldman mentioned it on Big Noon as an outside chance if they lost (and they have now lol) but UM (Urban Meyer) laughed it off as a possibility. I’d be surprised if he left. If you think Michigan is hard how about Saban and Smart and then Texas is still there as a rival just like Michigan.

little by little jobs are being filled and now I wonder , with Elko reported to TAM, I wonder if UTSA's Traylor wiill be Houston's choice or a retread like Kiff Kingsbury or Gary Patterson

$15.5 million to sit on your ass and do nothing except reflect on how you sucked at your job. What a great profession.
Not too many coaches make it to head coach of a Power 5 program. Most football head coaches at the college and high school level make peanuts. The Div-III powerhouse Mount Union College head coach makes $86000 a year. Every football player can pursue a career path to a Power 5 head coaching job. Reaching the top of the profession, like in the business world, is a tough climb.

Fair take. I was relating to someone who did not have much of an interest in or knowledge of college football about Mike Leach and how, after earning his law degree, skipped practicing law and started at Cal Poly making $2,400/year (not thousand). At the end of his career before he passed, he was making $5.5 million/year. But he was good at what he did.

I guess we could look at it like musicians or actors-there are a lot of them toiling away for peanuts, but only a select few make it to the top. But when their careers "fizzle", unless they are still receiving royalties or residuals, the big paydays end. There is something unsettling about any person getting $15.5 million to do nothing when they were not doing a good job and got fired before their contract was up. But that's the way it is. . . . .

Texas A&M is not going out of the college football business.

Fritz from Tulane makes a lot of sense for Duke. Tulane has high academic standards so he'd be able to understand what recruits to target at Duke.

He'd be a good name for Duke.

Wonder if they might not promote their DC Tyler Santucci. Read an article that Elijah Robinson A&M's interim HC is supposed to remain on staff there with Elko and become the DC. If that's the case maybe it's known Santucci is staying behind? Santucci has also been at A&M before so I would think he would come along with Elko unless he had an opportunity at Duke.

Tulane is the top-rated university in Louisiana. Tulane is happy that you include them in the same sentence as Duke. You may be over rating their academic standards.
