4 star OT either decommits or has offer pulled by Michigan

Some UM folks are saying Harbs processed him, and they're not that happy about it.

When a coach no longer wants a recruit for one reason or another--sometimes to make room for a more valued recruit at the same position--the coach lets the player know he won't see the field so he should look at playing elsewhere. There are uncommitted guys like Rashan Gary looking at Michigan, and in order to make room for big-time recruits sometimes other, less-valued players get processed out. Happens at Bama and other programs, and is viewed by many as being dooshy, but those people tend to be fans of programs that can't recruit at Saban's or Harbaugh's level, so their coaches never have to process someone out because they don't have the embarrassment of riches those coaches and programs do.

Swenson has a short but elite list of offers. I just can't imagine how he feels having thought he put this to bed two years ago.

Part of me hopes he goes to OSU, just so that he pancakes Rashan Gary or whomever at the worst possible time for Michgan....of course, he can do that here!

Horrible. Feel bad for the kid. Just shows how much of a scumbag Harbaugh is. He wouldn't even talk to him on the phone to tell him his offer was pulled. He had a assistant coach do it even asking to speak to Harbaugh. Total bushleague douche move.

Yes he can.

That would sure be fun to watch. ;)

I'm not happy with the timing of this. This kid was the first member of the 2016 recruiting class, as he had committed to the Wolverines November 2013.

Now two weeks prior to singing day, Harbaugh pulls his scholarship with no warning/communication?

If Harbaugh didn't like the progress this kid made his Senior HS season, then Michigan should have done this in November.

Something is fishy here Jimmy! Methinks recruiting is a very dirty business.
As a Michigan fan, I'm a bit disappointed and embarrassed by this.

Well... I see this kid is currently listed as warm towards Northwestern.
Stay home kid and go to Northwestern, you are approx. a 30 minute drive from Evanston, and Pat Fitzgerald will probably treat you right.

Good luck to this kid!

When Sir Patrick Scott decommitted from UM last week is was insinuated on here that it was Harbaugh brushing him off. That wasn't the case. It was a grades issue. The NCAA doesn't let you take Official Visits if your grades aren't up to par. Scott had not taken any OV's, not even to Michigan. Swenson's deal though, going on face value with out a clearer explanation does not look good at all for Harbaugh IMO.

We all tend to diss the coaches who "process" a kid out after he has verbally committed. This has certainly happened even here at RU once either a coaching change has occurred or something else has made the kid expendable. But, when you have the kind of recruiting you see at the big programs, it happens a lot more and is probably considered just business as usual.
As far as thinking actions like this will hurt recruiting is BS. First, this is a destination program that a lot of top players want to go to so they just look at it as an open spot and second, every young kid thinks nothing bad is ever going to happen to them. Just think about all of the stupid things any of you did in your teen years for proof of that.
As staggering as it may seem to throw a 4* to the curb for us, Michigan and the like are loaded with them on a regular basis. We just lost our one and only this week. I long for the day that RU is anywhere near the atmosphere of this sport like a Michigan. If it ever does happen, we will be doing the same thing for the betterment of the program.

Definitely not in this case. The kid was committed to Michigan for over two years now and is two weeks away from signing day. Suddenly the future he expected for his next four years has been yanked from him. That's got to sting. I hope he winds up happy wherever he goes.

Unless he goes to PSU.

I wonder if this was a numbers issue with Michigan, and they decided to cut bait with a commitment from the earlier regime.

If you have decided you no longer want a kid in your class you have to let him know to start looking way before 2 weeks until signing day. What a crap move, should ahve told him back in the fall.
You have facts on that? Who knows maybe he was told last year when Harbaugh took the job. He wasn't his recruit
Would he be better served riding the bench?

Told him last year but it is just being addressed now?

This board gets more dumb by the minute.

Dumb? what's dumb is people making up scenarios that they know jack ship about. Who knows what happened. We don't know if his scholarship was even pulled or he looked around and saw better players and left on his own.

Yea...... I'm sure the kid waited two weeks before signing his letter of intent to let this information out that he we was told a year ago he wasn't going to be a part of the team? Wth I didn't think it was possible to be that stupid.

So what are the facts?

The facts we know and have been released is he called UM and they told him not to take his OV. He committed 2 years ago and was just informed his offer was pulled. He asked to speak with Harbaugh and he wouldn't even talk to Swenson. That has been reported.

It's bad PR for the coaching staff and school. They won't comment on it either because they don't have too and honesty don't care.

To be fair, there is some legitimate drama in many of these situations. People are going to get their feelings hurt, which might not mean much, but short of death, injury or illness, it's probably the biggest thing these recruits have dealt with.

My apologies to all. I saw a couple of links on this thread with no details but missed the one with it. You all are right it sucks for him.

classy comment by a grounded fan who speaks honestly, I applaud

I usually try to stay away from ridiculing other teams coaches/fan bases BUT this guy (Harbaugh) isn't wrapped too tight or playing with a full deck. He's starting to cast a bad light not only over himself but his university with not only actions like this one but also his dim-witted tree-climbing, sleepover, and attending classes with recruits incidents. And all of this (especially the sleepovers) with the Jerry Sandusky horror still fresh in our minds. Have you ever seen him in front of a camera doing an interview - remember the Colin Cowherd incident ? Good Lord. Is UM this desperate to win and do away with their annual embarassments against OSU and MSU. He's a clown show at best.

Where did you find all that info. "The Fort" is always looking for people that know facts before anyone else. Of course they have no interest in the people talking w a mouthful of sh*t. Just saying.
