Plain and Simple!!! It couldn't be any more obvious that Flood is WAY OVER HIS HEAD!...and has been since minute one. NOTHING will change next year!!!...and MANY MANY Boosters/ Alums/ Students/ RU Fans KNOW IT! This change needs to happen ASAP to prevent us moving back to the Terry Shea era:...where attendance was WAY DOWN...season tickets holders were WAY DOWN...losing was expected and a way of life...losing by LARGE margins were a norm...recruiting was getting worse and worse...we were a laughing stock...and player/ fan morale was WAY DOWN...all in an ANEMIC college football environment. Believe me when I say that I have been a 25 year Rutgers Football Season Ticket Holder...and if you ever speak to anyone that knows me...I barely EVER MISS OR LEAVE GAMES EARLY (even in the HORRID Terry Shea era back in the day).
That being said, I BLEED SCARLET like MANY MANY posters on this board...and just can't understand with all of the AWESOME N.J. High School Football/ Basketball talent...Why Rutgers can't advance to something REALLY BIG/ REALLY COMPETITIVE...but just instead seem to spin their wheels in the mud over and over and over again. Simply stated...IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY! I am LOYAL...to a tee. I am an RU Alum that was laughed at during parties...way back when...when I would say to everyone (emphatically/ seriously) that Rutgers could be a College Football Bowl contender. Rutgers eventually was...and I had the last laugh. The reality is that we can be even BIGGER/ MORE REPUTABLE in college football...and basketball for that matter...which benefits THE ENTIRE UNIVERSITY in many ways...and not just monetarily. SPORTS ARE OFTEN "THE GLUE" THAT KEEPS ALUMS ATTACHED TO THEIR UNIVERSITY...ESPECIALLY AFTER THEY ARE LONG GONE. Alums are READY TO BE PROUD AND ATTACHED TO THEIR UNIVERSITY (and I just don't mean academic pride)...and READY TO PUMP $$$'s BACK INTO THE SYSTEM DUE TO THIS "FEEL GOOD" PRIDE...again...Plain and Simple!...and no rocket science here. From Rutgers, I received my Doctorate from Columbia University...so am extremely academic...and love academics/ research...but like MANY...SPORTS IS "THE GLUE" THAT KEEPS ME CONNECTED TO MY UNIVERSITY...and I have pumped many $$$'s in over many years to show my loyalty/ support. I feel that there are an extremely large number of people that are not so loyal...and will walk away from a failed RU Football/ Basketball program. Again...all when IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY! Let's not allow what Greg Schiano built to crumble...but let's ascend even higher...because IT IS REALISTIC!...because RUTGERS HAS THE ABILITY! We are in the Big 10 now...and that adds to the realism tremendously.
