This is how CVS described her team to Ryan Dunleavy in an interview. She did not explain this comment. How is she shorthanded? She has a full roster. Anemic, does she mean not hustling? I wish the reporter would have asked her to explain.

Nice way to twist the words.

But Cynthia Hernandez has been out much of the year - not the "blonde pony tail" that many poster think is the answer but a solid senior player who could have helped with a couple 3s in close games. Ariel Butts has had knee problems all year and hasn't been able to play extended minutes.

listen every year, the same refrain..injuries and lack of depth. Its because she continues to bring in freshmen who aren't ready to play or the gameplan is to difficult for them. At other schools frosh are contributing right away...look at the Big 10. We have players that play spot minutes. Jeune looked pretty bad out there in the Maryland game making so many mistakes. Perhaps they should have been getting more time in the cupcake part of the schedule. It just looks like our bigs and guards are not even as athletic and cant shoot like the rest of the Big 10 schools

Yep. We should fold the program rather than support it. :joy:

I was more concerned about Stringer's comment about " I want to play if the players want to play".She also said "we're not getting what we need ...that speaks to the youth, the quality of the talent and the depth".

Let me first say media relations has not been a strength for Rutgers head coaches .Comments made like above without further clarification leaves fans perplexed as to what is happening with the womens basketball program.

Agreed

But does support have to be blind. Can we never question the head coach or the results. Reality is Stringer is limping along to win 1000. And in the process the program will be become a middling level team. I guess it's all settled come April. If she's not retained then she is here for the duration.

Juene missed training camp & the first 10 or so games with a broken foot, kinda hard to give her minutes in cupcake games when she was wearing a boot!

Easier to constantly complain about the program and find things to nit-pick about.
That happens when the losses make post season play a challenge.
Each one of those loses brings out more complainers between games than most wins do.
Heck even some wins are complained about.
Doom and gloom must be shared, happiness and hope are not to be spread when there are things to knock
So anything the RU WBB team does becomes:
Not_good_enough

Hopefully those who feel this is meant for them remembers my favorite saying about the everything stinks crowd:
"A guilty conscience needs no accuser."
So don't whine about what your conscience is saying [winking]

always excuses for everything...how about Sanders...how about the other Jeune, how about the two bigs...these are players overwhelmed at this level..meanwhile other programs bring in young players who contribute

The problem with you is that you don't know the difference between excuses & facts.

The worst part of losing is hearing that 30+ programs have a better shot of getting into the NCAA's than RU. That means there are many many good high school players on OTHER teams and recruiting continues to be a problem here. Why, it can't be as simple as the RAC is dated?

Guard dominated team with guards who do not shoot well from outside.
Scaife is a great mid-range shooter and solid from 3 but our O doesn't get many good looks from there.
Too many of our three point attempts are hurried heaves when the shot clock is winding down.

This team is a puzzle, our offensive production is an issue. The truth is we do not play good fundamental basketball. The placements of layups and long range shooting. Missing jumpers effect the flow of the defense. These issues has be address in the off season. How many layups did we missed last night? We can't afford to give points away...

The consistent decline of a once dominant womens program is difficult to ignore. Having a hall of fame coach is great if it isn't an impediment to continued success. Like it or not, there needs to be answers to what has happened and changes made where necessary.

Or was the "anemic" comment a Freudian slip on her part for how she runs an offense?

how many times is Copper out of position trying to make a layup from under the basket with some contortion. I love her as a player but doing that isn't going to work. Seems like RU forces everything when they are too far under the basket.

Along with the absence of 3 point shooters Rutgers inconsistent performance in making layups have been the major reasons for the offensive woes.

There is no doubt it is time for a change and if one is not made before next year than this program will be set back 5 years because the cupboard is so bare. I don't envy Hobbs because this is a very delicate situation that must be handled with but it MUST be done and this year!!!

One post remarked about the lack of a 3 point shooter or shooters and our demise since then. Spot on!

Gotta believe Hobbs has the political pedigree to handle this situation. One of Barchi's better moves.

So you guys want Hobbs to get rid of CVS and EJ in the same year?
There is a very vocal group of posters who would love nothing more than to think their posts were responsible for the "superfecta". The firing of the athletic director, football coach, men's and women's basketball coaches.

Then, they'll give each of the new hires credit for turning around each of the programs (until the games begin and the losing continues).

Only a poser needs to start using such baby talk. Cut it out. Just make your point.. And your post makes no sense to boot.

Jeune's were a package deal that was made with their Dad a number of years before the older sister was a senior in HS. Early in their careers, the younger was compared to Maya Moore. So CVS agreed back then to take the older slower and less talented sister to assure getting the young potential superstar.

Sorry but I think my post made a lot of sense to a lot of people on these boards.

Yes. It's time to do a clean sweep of the black head coaches at Rutgers (/sarcasm). Yes I went there. Manhattan has now started up this AM on the RT about the need to fire CVS after a now 5 page thread on firing Eddie there continues to grow.

I come over here to check things out on senior day, and this is what I see.

Agreed. We're going to learn a lot about Hobbs in short order.

For the Women's team and CVS today was a good one.
Hopefully this type of play ( 22pt win) will continue in the B1G tourney and the RU WBB team and it's HOF coach will be handed an NCAA Dance card.

As for any fire CVS thread, I'm against that type of thinking.
But I feel there are some that wanted her gone and complained about Stringer even when RU was one of the best and there wasn't a valid reason for some so called RU WBB fans to want her replaced.
As for the MBB program and its HC , that is a topic that belongs on the MBB board , but I think I understand your point and why you brought it up.
