Anyone who thought Ash was going to come in and compete with this roster is crazy.

I consider the New Mexico Game a must win. . . given Rutgers history of laying eggs. . . Coach Ash better find a way to put the smack down on New Mexico.

a loss to Bob Davie at home, would be devastating.

I can't think of a single FBS team on the schedule that has less team speed than us. Ash has to figure out something else to close the gap. Change the game to suit our strengths. We're not going to outspeed the speedy and relying on potential future recruits isn't going to cut it. Every team has strengths - Ash needs to figure out fast how to exploit his team's strengths.

I agree. He can't leave our corners out there in man coverage if they lack the speed to stay with the WRs. I thought he did a better job of that post-1st quarter.

so now we have no speed either?

By the end of this year, we'll be told that this was a complete demolition, and the program is essentially starting from scratch.

and Ash will need 5 years to get this program in order.

which means we also need to give him an extension. . .can we do it now and just get it out the way, lol.

I think the point is that there was a talent discrepancy with #14 Wash., but too many fans expected us to be competitive. We are not there yet. Some want to blame coaches, new or old. Whatever the reason, we are not close to being a top 25 team. We have talent, just not top talent.
We have talent, with large gaps in areas, as well as a lack of depth

Are you saying he replaced Bush?

What exactly supports the notion that this team has talent? Look at the breakdown of the All Big 10 team last year:

10 – Ohio State
7 – Michigan State
5 – Iowa
4 – Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Northwestern, Penn State, Wisconsin
3 – Maryland
1 – Illinois

Grant was named second/third team as a specialist and Longa was named third team/honorable mention.
In 2014, Carroo was the only player to garner team accolades and Hamilton, Kaleb Johnson and Turay received honorable mentions. Hamilton and Turay are coming off of serious injuries.

This team has a good amount of experience, especially along the lines, but considering these numbers and Flood's disastrous recruiting, I'm not buying the whole talent argument.
