Ash Explains Why He Hasn't Hired Assistants Yet

Do you think he is on the phone with them during Ohio State practices, meeting or film sessions? How about hiring assistant coaches? Meeting with current players? The bottom line is he not devoting all the time he could be to building Rutger while he is at OSU.
psu nut might be trying to stir things up, but I agree with his basic premise, no one, not even ash, can do two full time jobs to the best of their ability, both jobs are getting short changed, that is my take on his general comments and I agree, I like the hiring of ash and in the long run this will hopefully make no difference, but I would also prefer that he is here full time, its that simple

Hey saying all the right coaching cliches. What coach isn't building a program or doesn't want a coaching staff that works together. The problem is how can you build a program while still working for Ohio State. It like me saying I am building a house then spend half my time working on my neighbors house. In the end every minute he spends at OSU is a minute he loses building his own program. While he wasting time preparing to beat Notre Dame other staffs are working hard recruiting and building staffs. Meanwhile Rutgers recruits sit and wait trying to find out who will be coaching them. It may be the dead period but your still allowed to talk to and write recruits.
I have a sneaky feeling that Coach Ash and staff IS contacting recruits in just the manner that you described.:sunglasses:

And I'd like a toilet made out of gold, but sometimes things are not that simple.

The decision was either work extra hard and pull double duty for a couple weeks with negligible negative impact or burn bridges with Urban. It's a pretty simple decision. You can't always get what you want....especially as a fan. Even if he was here full time, he'd have to wait for other coaches to finish their season.

Oh my that is going to be a problem - may be able to find a few - but these precious puzzle pieces are going to be hard to obtain - Hofstra gave up football in 2009 - searching out coaches with that cherished Hofstra lineage will start to be like trying to find parts for a Nash Rambler.
That'll be perfect, that will ensure that they'll be older:joy:
