RU- better. More experience with system, can't be worse
OSU- better. Young studs get better and experience/maturity improves. JT leaves but after today that may be a good thing
UM- worse. 43 seniors recognized this year, that's insane. They can't rebuild like OSU
PSU- better. Only 18 seniors, fewer than 10 starters gone and of course Barkley and Mcsorely are back
MSU- dependent on QB, likely better. Like us can't get much worse
Maryland- worse. QB will be ?, looks like PSU will flip all their highly rated recruits
Indiana- anybody who knows anything about them let me know

In one sentence you say UM can't rebuild like OSU and in another you say they are going to flip all of Maryland's top recruits, bit inconsistent. I don't see why Michigan would need to rebuild, I don't see them dropping off that much, just retooling. Overall, the eastern division should be tougher next year IMHO, and we should be ?.

Part about PSU flipping our top recruits is grossly inaccurate. Spence cancelled his visit and the biggest threat for Kaindoh (if he chooses to decommit) looks to be FSU.

Also I think we will be better team next year, though not necessarily in record. That's more of an opinion than a fact, but we lose very few offensive starters (though QB is probably a big one) and our defense is going to improve takent wise with a good freshmen class replacing some Edsall duds. If I had to put my money on a Week 1 QB starter, I'd guess Caleb Henderson, UNC transfer and former 4* recruit who sat out this year.

I tend to agree. Maryland should also have better depth which was one of their bigger weaknesses this year, especially once the usual injuries and suspensions began to take a toll on their starters. So like Shimmy, my vote is that Maryland will be better next year even if their record ends up being about the same.

Shimmy, do you play anyone good OOC next year? Even New Mexico on our schedule won 8 games.

At Texas, vs Towson, vs UCF. So technically only one bowl team (UCF), but I have to imagine that playing in Austin for Herman's opener is going to be exteremely tough.

Thanks and you have some nice athletes on your team. how hot will it be in Texas?

At the top level.. the playoff competitors level, this can be a bit of a zero-sum game, they might all compete for the best prospects on a national level, but it is certainly possible for every team in a division of the top conference to get better, even if marginally so. The same is true for getting worse.

My biggest concern for Maryland is still holding onto this recruiting class. If you can do that then Maryland is definitely on a big upward trajectory. I know that all the top programs will be pressing your top recruits hard.

Not so sure JT leaves. Probably a 50/50 thing right now. But I do feel comfortable with Joe Burrow taking over next year. Has "star" written all over him. Been very effective this year when he did play.

Is Haskins ever going to play?

Looks about right. I'm not so sure about MSU though. I believe they started 12 Seniors.

Maryland will be better. They return almost all of their OL and only lose one starter on defense. I think Hill will be given the keys from Day One.

I think you will be the same as this year and possibly worse.

There is no way Ash thought we were going to be this bad. I'm sure he told recruits that it was going to be a tough year, but this went well beyond tough.
So, the elephant in the room is all about us not only getting some more quality players, but hanging onto the ones we currently have "committed".
I think any improvement next year will be more incremental than seeing wins.

Yeah, I'm surprised to hear anybody predict a drop off for the Terps. It was often ugly, but a lot of experience was gained this year by guys coming back. And between Hill and Henderson, we are going to have a legit quarterback...

No. Spence was there. His pic is on 247 PSU.

RU- Don't see us being markedly better next year. Better at WR and LB, worse at OL and DL. Still poor at kicker/punter.

Expect everyone else in the division to be better, too... as will Washington OOC.

Looking at Morgan State and Eastern Michigan as wins. Purdue, @Illinois, and Maryland will likely be what determines whether we finish 2-10 or 5-7.

A lot will also depend on who declares for the draft. Even here is RU better with Grant? If JT goes what does that do to OSU? A couple of the Top QB's are gone no matter what. Except for the truly elite, in CFB a player here or there can make a huge difference.

I'd hold judgement until you see who's there come Spring Practice.

We're losing a bunch, though, too, especially on offense:
OL: Muller, Nelson, Denman
WR: Patton, Tsimis, Agudosi, Matthews, (potentially Grant)
TE: Arciadiacono, Flanagan
RB: Goodwin

Of those who have played this season, we're returning on offense:
OL: Miller, Cole, Seymour, Applefield, Heeman
WR: Harris, (potentially Grant)
TE:
RB: Martin, Hicks, Sneed, Snorweah
QB: Rescignio, Oden, Allen

Indiana better next year. They return all major components of their defense excluding Green. Their defense should carry them which is hard to believe.

On offense they lose major pieces on the OL (Feeney, Rodgers, Camiel), however, that's Coach Wilson's speciality. They also lose Jones and Paige at WR, however, their best WR Cobbs comes back. They do need better QB play next year. Lagow isn't cutting it. Coach Wilson knows offense and he'll figure it out.

Understood but I'm not talking about RU. I used Grant as an example of how 1 player can affect a team.

All I was trying to point out it's difficult to evaluate teams when you don't know who's back and who's not. RURM85 did a good job with Indiana but you still don't know with any certainty.

What year is Barkley?

not losing much at tight end and Washington should be upgrade.

But Washington won't be playing every snap at TE - and even so, that leaves us very thin at that position. The only other guy on the roster who's seen the field at TE is Nakia Griffin-Stewart, who appeared only against MSU this year. We didn't pick up a TE in the 2016 class, and we don't have one in the 2017 class currently.

Also, Washington had just 1 reception for 13 yards over 9 appearances for Miami... so I'm not ready to anoint him a savior at that position just yet based only on stars he had a couple years ago.

This is hilarious. We led the country in interceptions in 2015. One of the guys who threw a bunch of them led us to a bowl and that is a miracle. We'll have 15 extra practices you and MSU won't. We lost a bunch of seniors in 2015 of which two Sean Davis of Pittsburgh and Yannick Ngkawake are starting.

We have 3 decent young QB's, one transfer, and one 4 star QB incoming. We'll be a lot better at QB next year. The class right now is rated #13.

Our schedule is much harder, as we open up @Texas and we will be hard pressed to win 6 games, but talent wise, we will be much much better.

Zander Diamont just announced he is not coming back. He is graduating. While not a passing threat, he added a wrinkle to their offense.

It's probably only safe to say Michigan State will be better next year since they fell off so much and won so few games.
