Neither do I. I think St. Mary's gets in over them. I also think Oregon is going to be 4th #1. We'll find out in a little more than an hour.

Great job, as always, BAC. You help make this time of year fun.

Have not looked at your seeding which I will do in a minute but I have Vandy replacing Syracuse . Otherwise agree, South Carolina, St. Mary's , San Diego State, Akron , Valpo, Tulsa on the outside.

Vandy in is a big surprise. I didnt have them in neither did Lunardi or Palm

Wichita did get in and so did Temple

I think Vandy may have taken Michigan, Cuse or So Carolina spot

I think Monmouth will be in the Brooklyn pod as the 11th playing in the first four in Dayton

South Carolina I predict is out!!

Its going to come down to whether the committee chooses Monmouth over St Marys and San Diego State. 6-11 game will feature a mid major vs power 5

Feel for The Bonnies and especially Monmouth. They will say Cuse beat St. Bonnie. Awful job by committee

Agree. the Bonnies and Monmouth both should be in. This was the worst in recent years.

Missed two.....Vandy and Tulsa. I didnt even have Tulsa as a last 4 consideration. Instead I had Monmouth and St Bonnies and had St Bonnies above the last 4 in cut

I also felt the committee fell over themselves to love the Pac 12 and Big 12...once again dissed the Big 10 as Michigan State not getting a one seed while Virginia got it was a joke. The Big 10 also got worse seeds...Indiana a 5 are you kidding me?

Totally agree. I had Vandy and Monmouth in. South Carolina definitely out because of their year end swoon. Tulsa was eliminated by me when they lost to Memphis and they did that twice . I would have put the Bonnies in and the Cuse out. Cuse beat Duke when Duke was going through that losing streak and dropped out of the Top 25, their other win of note Texas A&M but on a neutral floor. They gave Syracuse a pass and/ or rated the ACC top to bottom as the best conference.
The diss of the Big 10 was a travesty. Purdue and Indiana as 5 seeds is a joke. Purdue is a matchup nightmare and Indiana is they guard and defend could play with the 1 seeds. The bottom of the league dragged the Big 10 down , but I hope Iowa recharges because they can make some noise with those 4 seniors

yep...just one too many of those..and those were truly bad losses

also the UCLA and Georgetown wins did fade somewhat down the stretch

I can definitely see Iowa switching the light on and taking down Nova.

a bit surprised that they took Vandy over SC considering SC beat Vandy, finished higher than them in the SEC and SC did have 8-5 mark vs top 100....SC was a school that went from all but in and people not considering them a bubble team to out..I finally moved them out yesterday...they were like SMU from 2014

You win 17 road games you have to be given a pass as a mid major

yes I would do that...I wonder what the AAC and midwest representation was on the selection committee as compared to the east coast
I do not know if you heard Calipari on ESPN correctly critical of the committee this year and every year. One year the criteria is road wins, one year strength of schedule, one year top 50 wins , the target always changes. He asked the committee what the main one was and was told there were 10 different individual opinions. Such hogwash .
He also mentioned one of my pet peeves for years, that is the mis seeding that goes on every year and screws up everything. He clearly admitted that the year Wichita State was number 1 and undefeated , they should never have matched up with Kentucky and all their pros as an 8 seed. The committee screws up seeding more often than which teams the leave out every year and it drives me nuts.

just saw the committee chair answering questions from Andy Katz...seems like the excuse he seemed to find to eliminate all the other schools was top 50 wins as justifying Tulsa but when judging why the others didnt get in, it seemed like they used other criteria to justify that.

Virginia has wins over NC, WVU, Miami 2x, Cal, Villanova and Louisville 2x. That is a lot of top 15-20 wins. They lost some winnable games on the road but can't really go too crazy that they got a 1 seed. Mich State should have got 1 seed over Oregon,

They won 13 road games, not 17, and only 1 was over a team that made the tournament in Iona, but Iona beat them twice.

Neutral site wins over USC and Notre Dame were their crown jewels in their resume, but losses to terrible Canisius, Army, and Manhattan squads doomed them. Wins over UCLA and Georgetown looked great at the time, but when they went a combined 13-23 in conference play they lost some luster.

Monmouth was a fantastic story, but their objective resume left a lot to be desired.

Cal is a sleezeball, but I agreed with all his points about this. A bunch of different opinions every year and the quoted criteria are always changing from year to year.

listen with a 4-12 mark vs top 100 Michigan should consider themselves lucky as well that there were two extra bids this year

This is why having the NCAA OWN the NIT is a bad bad thing.

I bet the powers that be let it known that Monmouth in the NIT is a good thing for MSG and ESPN.

You don't really think they'll get there do you ?

The NIT will toss them a bone with a home game in the 1st Rd and then send them away where they'll lose.

BAC - any stand out to you?

thanks

some of these spreads seem lower than expected...like WVU and Iowa State, Baylor...but they are all potential upsets too

one thing to check for is schools making their first appearance in a long time, the NCAA is a new thing for the players and sometimes are a little too caught up in it and then gamewise meltdown vs teams with more tourney experience.

I see VCU is -4 over Oregon State...Beavers have no experience in the tourney...26 years since the last time they went and I think they may have an injured player.

not a big fan of Pitt at all and Im shocked that the Cal is only -6.5 over Hawaii

thanks, i will look into VCU...don't know much about Oregon State

last night had itchy trigger finger

already bet these:
Cal - (got -6)i don't know a whole lot about Hawaii but have watched Cal. they win games they are supposed to win.
Seton Hall -wrong team favored
St Josephs - wrong team favored - coaching edge + Cincy can go 0 fer 5 minutes at any given moment
Butler - seems short (got -3),they keep game pace up to where they like it should be double digit win
Providence (got -2) USC doesn't play D, especially when not at home
Miami - men vs boys
Iona (got +8) slight concern seeing lots of people who like them to keep it close

considering also
Temple
WVU - committee playing games with this match up
UNCW - def playing , waiting for better #

Interesting that all of the #9 seeds were favored over the #8 seeds. Gonzaga as an #11 is favored over #6 Seton Hall and #10 VCU is favored over #7 OSU. #7 Dayton and #10 Cuse are pick 'em.

listen with a 4-12 mark vs top 100 Michigan should consider themselves lucky as well that there were two extra bids this year

since Wichita State and Tulsa were behind Michigan on the final S-curve, they'd have still got in even with Louisville and SMU included in the field.

On a side, note "4-12 vs top 100" drastically undersells Michigan's record. 3-7 vs top 25, 1-4 vs 26-50, and 0-1 vs 51-100 (road loss @ OSU). Only 13 teams in the country had more wins vs the top 25 via RPI and only 8 teams played more total games vs the top 50. If some of Michigan's opponents had been a little bit worse, Michigan would've racked up more wins vs top 100 teams and had a shinier top 100 record. But when you play 14 games vs top 35 opponents including 8 away from home, wins are tough to come by.

So I wouldn't call Michigan getting in the tourney lucky. They were quite unlucky in that they didn't get a chance to play but 1 total game (on the road) vs teams 51-100. They were 5-0 vs teams 101-125 and 16-1 vs teams ranked 50 and above
