Last night the Battle for The Bridge games were announced. All games between the New Jersey schools and New York schools will be played in New Jersey. Mike Quick said sites have not been determined. Rutgers is away at Temple that weekend of September 15/16/17. Hopefully we get as many games as possible at Rutgers Stadium which will make thousands of people more familiar with our university and football program.
Here are the games—

Stepinac vs DePaul
St Joseph’s by The Sea vs Montclair Immaculate
Saint Anthony’s vs Saint Joseph’s of Montvale
Saint Peters of Staten Islandvs Morris Catholic
Holy Trinity vs Immaculata
Chaminade vs Paramus Catholic
Monsignor Farrell vs Hudson Catholic
Cardinal Hayes vs Pope John
Iona Prep vs Don Bosco

Wouldn't it just make sense to play in Met Life in the shadow of the bridges?
I would hope all Rutgers fans are in Philadelphia.

No, we want as many New Jerseyans as possible to visit Piscataway and see THEIR campus. We need to be doing this A LOT more with academics and athletics. Rutgers fans will still be in Philadelphia. It is insane how many people I run into who have never been on the campus of their own State University.

Agree. Many people that live in middlesex and union counties have never sniffed the rutgers campus

Why is the world would an RU fan think this is a good idea.
I think it's a great idea. Most of those schools are a lot closer to Met Life. Get the NY families to come too. More spending $$ in NJ. They aren't coming to Piscataway.

See the campus?? They are going to drive to the stadium, see the game and go home. Just like 99% of Rutgers fans do.

Why would someone with no affiliation to the university HAVE to visit the state university? i've never stepped foot on the campuses of kean, montclair state, njit, ramapo, richard stockton, thomas edison, or william patterson...

Nothing I see would indicate games “possibly” at Rutgers other than you wishing.

A quick google maps shows that Perth Amboy High School football field is 3 blocks from the entrance to the Outerbridge. The GW bridge would have to cast an enormous shadow to get closer than that.
Elizabeth HS is also pretty close to the Goethals Bridge.

Most of the people going to those games are fans and friends of the schools

I could see a split between SHI and Met Life. Bosco - Iona Prep should be Met Life. For St. Peters SI vs. Morris Catholic the difference in drive time is trivial, so SHI. You could split the rest of the games on that basis.

If all the games are on Saturday, then some would need to be split between Rutgers Stadium and Ugly Air Conditioner Stadium. If the schools spread it out over the whole Friday-Sunday weekend, then we could handle all nine games. Remember, if we hadn’t had the flood last September, we would have been host to 24 schools over a weekend.

For a second I thought you meant the Carrier Dome. LOL

I don't see Perth Amboy HS on the list above. Or Elizabeth.

Neither did I. However the OP only indicated the games would be played in NJ not in any specific sites and it is titled "Battle for the Bridge". All I did was post that these 2 locations are very close to any of the 3 bridges. You want fans in the stands? Put Farrell game in Perth Amboy and St. Peters game in Elizabeth.
If you want a big game at SHI, play those posted by RUforJERSEY above. Bergen Catholic vs EHall

All but 1 school is closer to Met Life. Have Immaculata play at SHI all the rest at MetLife. I'm sure the players and parents would rather travel less and play in an NFL stadium.
Besides past versions of this has already been held at MetLife

I don’t know if many 15,16, and 17 year-olds in the northern New Jersey area have any ties to the Giants and Jets since in their memory, these have been two of the four joke franchises in the NFL. Again, we need to get as many big events as possible in Piscataway to get more New Jerseyans familiar with their university. People just don’t know how much we have to offer, not just being one of the Top 50 universities in the world, but also the dramatic turnaround of our athletic teams the past couple years and endless arts related events like the Rutgers Symphony, the Zimmerli, jazz, ballet, opera, plays, the planetarium, the Geology Museum, Rutgers Day, the New Jersey Folk Festival, Rutgers Gardens, and the new Rutgers theaters at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center.

If they don't have any connections to they Giants or Jets through their family they certainly don't have any through Rutgers either!
People aren't coming for a vacation around a high school game, they come, watch the game and go home.
Plus it's still an NFL stadium. If their favorite teams isn't Jets or Giants their favorite still has played there against them.
Just because you want it doesn't mean they do. Nobody would be thrilled about driving farther because a guy on a sports thread wants them to.

No. Might as well keep it a home game in Jersey.

I’m sure people here would be clamoring for these game to be played at Rutgers if St Peters or Bergen Catholic were in this. The other NJ Catholic schools are garbage? I mean DePaul, Bosco, St Joes Montvale are schools which most of you want their kids to play for Rutgers. And Taj White is from Hudson Catholic. Let’s some of the other schools have a chance to play at Rutgers (or Met Life).

You want kids on campus as much as you can. Anybody who thinks otherwise is wrong

It's not about desire to showcase Rutgers. It's about location. Doesn't make sense for non Rutgers fans to have mostly North Jersey schools to pass up MetLife b

Met Life, Rutgers. Either way kids would be excited to play at a pro/ college stadium.

Umm which would be their first choice? Especially where the schools are located.
So if St Peters and St Augustine we’re playing at Rutgers, would you tell the kids to play at Met Life or The Linc? Would you say the same if Bosco/Bergen had a Week 0 Showcase game at Rutgers?

They were 7-3 last year.....either way, Holy Trinity would smoke them.

I hope the games are played at Rutgers.

Hope to see some of the guys on the boards at this game too.

-Lenny
They were 7-3 playing crappy public school teams. They lost to DePaul by 40 and it wasn’t that close. They also lost to Morris Catholic which might be the second worst Catholic in NJ

Whose #1? LOL

I know for hockey that’s who you scheduled for “homecoming” or senior night.

Heaven’s gonna have to get out in front of the Manchester Shoprite again and do some “witnessing” on behalf of the venue for this event. Get a petition going. Pass out some brochures about RU, RU sports, Ru Stadium, etc. Maybe he can convince some to attend a 1on1 study to do a deeper dive into all things RU.
