Thought it was interesting that he received a warning. It is also amazing when you look around the country at the issues many universities/athletic programs face.

Penn State
University of North Carolina
Minnesota
Illinois
USC
on and on

The beating we took during this at the hand of the local media and our own fans is just bewildering.

did you see the ticker about 15mins ago about the starting Florida QB Grier now our for PEDs? And some other guy out for firing a gun in the parking deck? And Sark..all three just today. Crazy stuff out there.

Let's continue with the false equivalence, Flood brought this on himself.
Yes, because the Berkeley prof accidentally groped his students. USC coach was drugged by someone else. PSU did not cover anything up. UNC did not perpetrate a multi-decade academic sham etc etc. These things listed are many times more severe and guys like you like to jump on top of your own. No doubt Flood did something stupid, but does an entire life of work get thrown out for this? As it is your university, do you not offer the benefit of the doubt or support?

They all deserve to be punished if the allegations are true. I was once fired from a restaurant for eating ice cream. We were told not to eat food. Flood's transgressions were much worse. If I got fired why shouldn't he?

Flood served his time, it's over no matter what happens at other Universities.
Rutgers had a problem and it was handled, let the fans of other schools worry about how their school handles the problems that arise there.

What happens at other schools doesn't make Flood a victim, nor does it make him a monster.
Mistakes were made and handled, time to move on to how Flood coaches and hope it's good enough for RU to go bowling this year.

Agreed ! That's why all that matters is winning . I don't really care about much else at this level . Stay eligible and win games . Keep the crimes petty ...oh and win games !

No, something happened, he was severely punished. Time to move on.

Yes, Kyle Flood had lunch and didn't actually get a grade changed.

Shame shame shame.
Yeah, lets give Flood credit for failing at cheating...lets add to the fact that he is not a very good coach and it all seems to make sense, lol

He coached everyday except gameday and was kept from the media...oh, they took back $50,000 from the million or so that they pay him. Simply keeping him from the media was a gift.

Good point. Not having to answer the foolish media's nonsense for 3 weeks was a blessing, not a punishment. Hell, he might have paid $50k extra just for that.

On second thought, if RU really wanted hurt Flood - force him to have a 1 hour sit down with politi and duggan after every practice. That'll learn him.

Surely you don't think that, because you experienced an overly harsh penalty for a one-time minor transgression, everybody else should suffer a similar fate?

for the record (and not to imply this comment was directed to me) my comment was simply meant to say it is pretty bad out there...every week/day..another incident somewhere. not excuse KF for his moronic behavior.

Was not aimed at you in particular, but every post in any thread that brings up what happens at other schools as an example of what happened at RU wasn't as bad as that and no one there is making a big deal over it.
Just want to move on and stop the comparisons .
Agree it's pretty bad out there, lets hope it gets better at RU and stays that way.

Hmm...I wasn't really being sarcastic . I really think at this level in college football winning is all that matters. I don't want us to turn into Florida state , but I don't want us to be the joke of the BIG on the field either and bottom dwellers. Obviously , I want us to win and do it the right way . But I know that may not be realistic at times. So yeah I would trade a few more minor off the field incidents for more wins . Just being honest .

I DO NOT F-ING CARE WHAT HAPPENS AT OTHER SCHOOLS. WE ACT LIKE WE'RE ABOVE THAT, CROWING ABOUT APRs AND SUCH.

FLOOD VIOLATED A RUTGERS UNIVERSITY RULE. END OF STORY.

Of course worse things happen every day at other places. Duh. Nothing new there.

I care about Rutgers. The rest is just filler.

I don't understand the comparison. Aren't those people (Berkeley Professor, Florida QB, etc.) being punished and their situations made a big deal of? We've heard about them here in NJ, so there's at least that much attention being paid. I don't see how it's different than what happened with Flood.

(Except for UNC, of course. I expect them to get a pass, sadly.)

And I'm sure you said at the time "I deserved it."

I have no idea the point the OP is making or why the Berkeley situation is being linked to. The professor did something wrong and he was punished. End of story. As a professor, I know damn well that I am not supposed to kiss, grope, etc. students, and if this professor (who teaches at Berkeley, for God's sake, and should certainly know the rules) doesn't know the rules, he's a fool. (A brilliant astronomer maybe, but a fool.)

I don't see in the slightest what this has to do with Flood. Flood broke a rule and was punished. Again, end of story. Let's worry about important things, like next week's game.

But mommy, Billy is allowed to stay up till midnight and eat cookie for dinner! - Floodies
Billy is 18 and 7 year older than the crybaby.
This isn't about Flood supporters or Flood haters, it's about the perception that Rutgers gets treated differently than other programs.
Or worries about how it will look and tries to be too PC the way it handles mistakes made and makes matters look worse than other programs do.

I feel there's no need to bring up what other programs do or don't do , just like I feel it's stupid to blame just the Floodies for feeling like RU always gets the short end of the stick.

The Cal situation is so sad. Knowing that Marcy is a perv is upsetting tbh.

USCw has been getting ripped in the media this week and their AD is taking more heat than Julie ever did.

NJ.com has had some douchy pieces but the idea that the national media reports on us more than others is just wrong.

National media usually doesn't check their source, they use the Star Liar as it and winds up using the negative spin the Liar puts out..

Here's an article about the USCw AD

It isn't bewildering. It is New Jersey.

They aren't getting ripped in the media at all. In fact, ESPN had an article on its front page about how people were rallying around Sarkisian, including the school. A real fluff piece.

The Flood haters aren't capable of seeing anything outside of that prism.

It isn't a double standard, but there is a difference. You can't argue that the NJ press is very hostile to its state school compared to a number of others. You also can't argue how some schools rally around their institution when trouble arises. Rutgers is the reverse of that example.

It is easy for many to do. They don't feel a true, strong affiliation with the school.

The real questions here are whether big time winning programs would suspend their coach for three games for violating a rule governing faculty contact, if they even have such rules at all, or if they even care enough about academics to even make sure their players are attending class.

Learn to scroll, it will help. USA Today had an article calling for Haden to be fired. I guess it is all a vast media conspiracy (again) against our East Coast sober Sarkisian coach.

If it were Rutgers, there would be no need to "scroll". I have seen more fluff pieces on SC than I can count. Especially locally. It's the polar opposite of how Rutgers is covered.

Duh- because he didn't eat the ice cream and you did. I am sure that resturant is proud to brag that the HC of Rutgers football once worked there.
