Not sure if you are plugged into the NJ AAU or High School scene, but, any chance Pikiell can snag Brian Coleman ? Carino mentioned him as someone Rutgers should target. With Coach Calhoun advising him I'm sure he told him about the importance of having a local guy on the staff.

With Pikiell and Hobbs, you have two strong game day coaches and X's and O's guys. Need that super recruiter with New Jersey AAU ties. I assume Dan Rickard is the 3rd assistant because he was an assistant coach under Pikiell for the last 7 years.

I know this is crazy and am about to get hundreds of negative comments...and i am not sure I'd do it....

Fred Hill Jr? Snag from SHU?

That is actually a good idea IMHO. FHJr. Has had a very successful career as an assistant coach and is widely known by every NJ HS coach for many years. This would be a great hire for recruiting purposes. Not sure HCSP would go down that road though. Freddie just could not be the CEO of a program but as an assistant has been excellent.

Not going to happen. This staff is going to be built around guys that can develop players. Pikiell developed in a program that was built (early) on bringing in guys and coaching them up. That is his model. Give it a chance - this is the way RU will be built and it will happen more quickly than people believe. Players that leave now are not being smart. Players are now going to be coached and that is what they should want.

Agreed....there could be more transfers. The kids are probably seeing more weight lifting and other lateral movement drills than they have seen in 3 years. Hey, even I got one more letter from the HC in 2 weeks than I got the prior 3 years. We also have a first NJ recruit in the last 5 years! More changes are coming and I will project that 85%-90% will be for the betterment of Rutgers basketball. As HCSP said at the press conference the only question that matters is "did Rutgers basketball get better today?" I have no doubt that this coaching staff is working 10-12 hours+ every day to get a YES answer to that question.

FJH???? What are you smokin'? He was an EMBARASSMENT to the University. He was FIRED. Didn't exactly leave on convivial terms. Why would HE ever want to come back? This has to rank as the most stupid posts ever made. Calls into question anything else you've ever written. A better case can be made for hiring Flood as OL coach.
