Brady suspended 4 game, Pats fined $1 mill and 2 draft picks

I previously said that anything more than a 2 game suspension would raise an eyebrow. This is big especially the Pats #1 pick. Bob Kraft must be seething mad at Goodell.

Kraft should remind the people that Goodell's father cheated in the NY Senate race of 1970,by running ads saying to RE-ELECT Senator Goodell, despite being APPOINTED by Rockefeller after RFK's assassination.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

I suspect the four game suspension will be reduced on appeal. Losing a 1st round draft choice has to sting.

This seems pretty fair to me. What is interesting here is that by being suspended four games without pay, Brady is getting a bigger fine than the Patriots are. I guess Brady will appeal, but given that he didn't cooperate in the initial probe, it will be interesting to see what he bases an appeal on. His lawyer is a joke.

But.... The pats won the Superbowl. The amount of money the Pats made from that will dwarf the fine. Think of all the season ticket renewals and sellouts to preseason games as a result of being the champs. Think of all the additional licensed apparel that was sold.

Same is true in college. The big programs that cheated and won have a positive residual affect on ticket sales and merchandise. In addition, the school is more appealing to hs students.

What fine?? The Patriots will make money on this. They save $1.88 ,million by not having to pay Brady. So fter the fine the Patriots save 880k

Does anybody think this will really hurt the Patriots? They aren't going 0-4 during those games. They will lose two at worst and win the AFC east again. Brady will benefit from the rest. Their first round pick will be 25 or higher which is like a 2nd rounder for everyone else, and they will have a ton of cap space next year so they can make up for the pick in free agency. And the 4th round pick is nothing. Belichick will pull a Jedi mind trick on some dreg team to get it back like he has on the Vikings and Raiders and others in the past. The Patriots will keep on rolling as long as Belichick is at the helm and the Jets will have top ten picks again and again until their owner dies and be irrelevant as they have been since Woodstock. Damn it must be frustrating to hate the Patriots.

Doesn't Brady's wife make more than he does? And yes, without having to pay Brady for 4 games, the Patriots will actually save money with the suspension and fine. Who's the backup QB? At least he'll get some playing time out of this....

Originally this looked like it was going to be a carefully choreographed 'face saving' ballet of resolution.
Now it looks like what the Patriots thought was going to be just a 'stage slap' - they think was a punch with a closed fist & egos have been bruised.
Kraft & Brady are now berserk with the realization that they will now carry a figurative asterisk to symbolize integrity deficiency - for all eternity - like a drop of black ink, this will be a stain on their legacy.

Given the push back from the Patriots today, it's clear the penalties hurt them more than most folks thought they would.

They would have been better off whining, but not appealing. Now it is going to go into round two. I think this was a dumb move by the Pats. Sleeping dogs.
