Cam sounds like a bit of an a**

Surprised anyone is even thinking about Cam Spencer.....he was a 1 year rental with no equity in RU or our program. It's been 4+ months that I stated the backcourt would be upgraded and based on the early looks on Griffiths and Davis, I feel fairly certain that RU upgraded it's short and long-term future in the backcourt.

I hope so. With Mag back, and if our back court was upgraded, then we should win 20+, as we won 19 last year and our starting front court is back and has an extra year experience. If we don't, then back court speed and improved shooting didn't outweigh what I think will be a weaker defense. I actually think we'll miss the rebounding and headiness of PM more than we'll miss the shooting of Cam Spencer.

Pike says in this day and age of the transfer portal, NIL, and another extra COVID year you simply do the following...

*for those players who leave, wish them good luck, pat their back, & thank them for their service to the program

*appreciate the players who return

*welcome the new players entering the program with open arms

Pike realizes roster turnover will continue annually. No use getting too wrapped up in situations you have no control over. Players are going to do what they think is best for them.

He relishes the "job" of coaching. He enjoys taking the puzzle pieces he has each season and trying to make them as successful a team as possible.

Remember when MLB players spent their whole careers with the same team and became fan idols! That ended years ago as money lured them away. Now a lifetime 250 hitter makes 10’s of millions. Kinda what NIL has done.
Maybe we’ll meet up with Cam in the NCAA’s.

As usual our insecure fans are completely overreacting to Cam’s interview. He said very nice things about Pike and his year at Rutgers. He did say that they play more of an NBA style of basketball in the Big East, which is true. He also alluded to playing against the best, in addition to their Big East schedule, UConn plays a tough, national OOC schedule that includes Kansas, UNC, Gonzaga and Indiana. He isn‘t really commenting on his pro potential, but his brother is.

Not really sure what the issue is with this quote.

“For me, I wanted to play at the highest level that I can professionally and I thought UConn brought the best opportunity,” Spencer said during Big East Media Day. “The Big East provides a lot in terms of me raising my level from a guard standpoint. Along with that, the defensive end is somewhere I want to get better at and playing against great guards is something that will help me get to the next level and be successful.”

Playing against Big East guards isn't going to improve his speed, or his ability to go by opposing guards, or his ability to stop penetration. It's all BS. He saw his playing time being less this year.

Lol. He saw his playing time being less at rutgers and decides to transfer to the national champions ??What logic you have !!

No, what logic does he have? And he was losing minutes to Simpson down the stretch.

He went to big east to play the best players? It will improve his pro prospects? He will improve defensively at uconn? Delusional?
what is he suppose to say? He wanted to step down in competition with lesser talented players in Big East?

Don't fault Cam for going for the money. But definitely fault him if he said publicly he did it to face the best players and get better coaching. If he said that it deserves a hearty FU.
And he can't possibly believe he's going to play in the NBA

bad with another question, will the bad person return to post some bad thoughts or is this thread meant to start a bad argument with the baddie laughing at the trouble he/she caused

First of all, just about every college player thinks they could play in the NBA, if they had the right opportunity. His brother is pitching him as a Seth Curry type of player, not the most athletic guy, but someone who can shoot and plays smart. I don’t see it, but they are entitled to do everything they can to get him to the highest level possible, and his brother has some credibility as a G league player.

Btw, let me add on to this comment that there is nothing like watching good, but not great college players play against NBA players when they are playing for real. U get to see players who thought they could play at a high level have their confidence totally shattered with the self realization that they really aren’t very good.

He probably knows that. Which makes the one big cash out of NIL money that much more important to kids like him. I don't blame him at all. Just don't diss your former coach and team on the way out and all is good.

He is/was an opportunist coming to RU, and he was that again when he left
Long ago I compared him to Andrew Gaze, an Australian sharpshooter who went to Seton Hall for their NCAA season, and left abruptly despite having another year of eligibility

I really like cam as a player and a competitor, so let’s be fair to him…

Ok it was a dick, heartless comment. Rescinded

He didn’t say “I came to the big east to play with the best players”, he said:

“I camef to thu big weast to pway wiff the bwest pwawers”

Let’s at least quote him correctly.
Yikes dude
