With the possibility that Rutgers will be looking for a new football coach, one thing that will be different from any other time is that we are now in a conference that is one of the P5's. I know some will point back to the early Big East as also being just as relevant, but I think we were still at the bottom of the pack there. This is a conference a talented guy should want to be in and there are just not that many openings to get a seat at the table.

Anyway, one can clearly say that the top coaches want to work at one of those jobs as opposed to the less powerful conferences that are pretty much excluded from having much hope of ever being seriously considered for the NC. The BIG is a destination conference for those highly considered coaches. Even with our less than great football history, a confident and talented guy can make things work at Rutgers. We know this because GS did a great job of making the school relevant with a lot less to work with.

So, if we are soon going to be shopping for a new guy, we should not be there with our hat in our hand hoping somebody really good takes pity on us, I understand the money issue, but any investment requires a commitment of capital to help make it work. We cannot waste the years between now and when we are finally fully funded by the BIG.

You make perfect sense, but given that we beat Army and if we beat Maryland which we should, I would not put it past this clueless Administration to give Flood another year....sorry but after dealing with the RU screw, watching Anderson, Graber and Shea take us into the abyss and how they got rid of Mulchay and Pernetti and the way they hired Herman- I have no faith or expectation that it will happen. I hope, beyond hope, that I am wrong.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but you're also fighting the battle of trying to land a top coach who is willing to come in and recruit and coach against the likes of Meyer, Harbaugh, etc. And when it comes to everything (facilities, pay, etc.), we're not even in the same hemisphere as those schools. So it could be harder to convince certain coaches to give it a go at RU. I'm hoping they get excited about it, though, and take it as a professional challenge to beat these guys.
