What constitutes a flagrant 2? Myles Powell’s first half elbow to the chest of the Marquette player was bad and intentional. Thought he would be ejected, just a flagrant 1.

Seton Hall is always such an easy team to not root for.

Myles Powell is such a lil b*tch. Trying to go at the Marquette coach for “not shaking hands”.

He should have been tossed instead of Theo in that scuffle.

Wojo showed no class. Not the way to act as a head coach.

Slightly pushed! Marquette is a dirty team.
Yeah, I just watched it for Maybebe the 15th time. Powell was falling away off balance. He was pushed. Yes he was pushed. But nothing blatant.
Powell jumped up upset..ok. Number 4 didn't even react. Zero reaction. Just stood there. Other guys jumped in and he even tried to pull them away. He got tossed.

Aggressive? Yeah. Dirty. No way.

Not even close to what Gene did to the Nebby players back last game.

You won’t find a single poster on even this site who would agree with you. But have at it

That’s exactly what happened

Um no. Powell didn’t try to shake Wojs hand initially and vice versa.

He then turned around after they passed and instigated a confrontation with Woj b*tching that he didn’t shake his hand, when Powell never never made attempt to in the first place.

Kid is a thug evidenced by the elbow earlier in the game and he should have also been tossed during that scuffle because he instigated that as well.

Oh is that what you guys talking about. Another end game heated mis understanding. The assist. Coaches did a bad job there.

Just saw the replay

That was ridiculous for anyone to be tossed because of that Powell drive.

Powell’s elbow was far worse than anything that happened on the play

Duke used to probably be my most hated team

Now it is UNC

The fact they got off with NO punishment for University of No Classes has made me hate them to no end.

Glad Duke held on
Maybe you should meet the spoiled "princes" kids of doctors/dentists I attended school with on Bridgewater with. Oh and by the way from what I remember Dook hospital refuses to treat the poor and dumps them to Carolina General in Chapel Hill. Plenty of players from many schools don't attend class. I told the interesting story about how my "kicker" friend classmate from the Rutgers football team had a great career with Merck but I don't remember him ever taking intro freshman bio let alone chem. At some point late in my freshman year as RU I saw his name taped PR written on one of my cham professor's desk. By that ayer admitted players were steered into RU football player classes. Also at a school like Dook where the average SAT score was 1400 (old scale) do you really think everyone on that team including Williamson can compete in the classroom? I met and went out with a neurotic unc undergrad who was happy to transfer from Dook. Told me things were so intense on campus she wound up on the psych hospital only to see some of her friends. I also vaguely remember someone I worked out with saw or knew someone who claimed he saw Maryland players' grades altered back in the Lefty Drisell days. Another lawyer was acquainted with attended Villanova when they won the National Championship around 1985. Said a lot of corruption re players on the team.

Was at the game what a shit show. Refs ruined it. Myles powell game reminds me alot of myself, completely dominant.

My question is what benefit does coming back give him?

After Seton hall won, Powell walked off the court and did not shake hands with the Marquette team. Seton hall also refused to have a player speak with the Fox News crew. Physical game but come on.
They decided not to have a player speak with the Fox crew because they didn't want their player having to answer a question about the officiating. Smart move by Seton Hall.

I went to Maryland in the early 2000s. The top Baskdtballl and football players never went to class even in the offseason. My roommate was a TA and was told to mark them down as present when taking attendance. Players would sell their books as soon as ths semester started because they knew they would need them. Driving around in brand new BMWs and Cadillacs. It's part of college basketball and I dont see the NCAA doing anything about it.

As bad an officiated game as I've ever seen------and I've seen over 60 years worth.

It was physical and chippy from the get go and that's when the crew needed to take charge . But they didn't and after the incident they started calling touch fouls and it got completely out of hand.

In a complete show of incompetence they failed to communicate the players status after it. SHU thought Powell was tossed for a 2nd Technical and sent him to the locker room when actually he was issued a Players T on the first one not a flagrant.

A shit show and a real black eye for the conference.

Yes exactly, he instigated it by receiving a push from an opposing player while he was in a vulnerable position. What a sinful moron you are.

Watch some highlights of SHU/Marquette- those refs need to be suspended. Let a good game get totally out of control. Need an accountability check here from the Commissioner.

I haven't watched any of the Big East tournament but the lesson learned is....
When playing either SJU or SHU at MSG - bring your own refs.

I thought the Refs were against SHU after the Powell scrum. I’ll give them credit though. They showed restraint buy not throwing Powell out. Maybe they were trying to make up for that at the end of the game?

Bad look all around for the Big East. Players, refs, coaches. Who wants to watch basketball like that. I bet it was crushed in the ratings.

And people complain about Big 10 refs...now this is a game where refs truly effected the game

It was a brutal game to watch. 89 free throws attempted. 89!!!

Probably one of the worst refereed games I’ve ever seen. They were bad calls on both sides but the two technicals at the end of the game which is completely ridiculous.

I expect the finals will get a great rating today because of the rivalry and history of the two teams. And you know darn well both teams and the referees are going to make sure they don’t have another embarrassment.

Not too worried about the long-term effects. This is a very down year for the conference and looks like it’s a 3 bid maybe 4, doubt SJU gets in. Despite that MSG was sold out and the league should rebound given many of the teams return pretty much their entire rosters along with strong recruiting classes.

It was a brutal game to watch. The refs took most of the enjoyment out of the game.

How were the crowds for day 1 and quarters?

Sell outs. Given the parity this year any team felt they could win it. Villanova’s two national championships and the quality of play have insured that MSG will continue to be the home of the BET.

Surprised Powell was not kicked out after the first half elbow, what constitutes a flagrant 2? That was intentional, should have been thrown out imho.

And many of us psych ourselves into believing the whole barnwell thing was a minor incident-on actuality it was in a sense worse than not attending classes because ot exposed how at RU some classes R set up for players and are a joke-and still all barnwell had to do was show up! Love Dook?-remember Jason Williams wasall but headed to Ru before mom made him fly to Durham to Look at dook- and
coincidentally Williams' uncle et other? Wound up with high paying jobs in Durham.
