Current Bowl Possibilities

Agreed 100% that we would bring the most fans to Charlotte, I'm just thinking they pick Minnesota over us. Would love to be wrong.

I know there are lot of Nebraskans in AZ. Idk where people from MN retire/winter.

I thought prices to NC would be rough because of the date but aren't bad at all.

Now that Minnesota won, is there anyone we should be rooting for/against? I assume for Indiana, OSU, Oregon...and....*shudder*....that blight on humanity in central PA so 4 B1G teams make the playoff.

How about Nebraska/Iowa? Or any others?

UGA is eliminated if GT finishes this upset up 17-0. If you enjoy seeing how overrated the SEC is this year, that enhances that overrated narrative.

Big Ten has seven bowl affiliations.

18 teams

4, we hope, go to the playoffs.
2 play in PAC-12 bowls (USC, Washington)
5 eliminated

7 remaining teams for the seven slots. Except if we beat MSU there are only six eligible teams.

I think we’re locked in for Phoenix no matter the outcome - though a loss loss leaves open the possibility for playing in Detroit.

This is obvious, but we’re rooting for Rutgers (to keep MSU out of bowl consideration).. I’d say we’re also rooting for Indiana. I suppose we should also root for Oregon, Ohio State and The Cult.

I really think Charlotte being the Friday after New Years limits travel.
People back to work and having to take another day or two (if you leave Thursday) of vacation time.

I could be totally wrong.
$800 flight to AZ is no prize.

Rather drive to Charlotte or drive to Detroit and leave late Christmas day.

Nephew in Belmont, NC.

I’d imagine much more limiting to have a game in the day after Christmas.

I can only speak for myself but seems kind of silly to go back to work starting on a Thursday so I’m just taking off those days whether we had a bowl or not.

Why in the world would anybody do that ?
Phoenix is 100% better Bowl location than the Duke’s Mayo Charlotte Bowl. Much Warmer weather, more to do, resort destination, much much better Bowl date timing, etc.
Rutgers fans have shown they can travel distances to Bowls .
Phoenix take note.

IDK. Someone else was saying Nebraska may get the Rate Bowl in Phoenix.

Where are you every year at that time? 🙂
Yes. When my parents were alive and my kids were young I flew out December 25 at like 10. Kids woke at 4 after a great family eve. Parents are gone, kids grown up. I’m headed west on the 20th lol

Love my family. See my siblings at lest 3x week. Maybe why I don’t lose sleep over holidays. Skipped Turkey day for egg bowl this year.
You're the exception. More people would rather spend the time with family on holidays, especially since they don't get to see many of them often. I hated the 2004 game we had on Thanksgiving vs UConn and probably wouldn't go again if we played on Thanksgiving.

Article from USA Today on Michigan, which affects Rutgers:

Illinois (9-3) and Iowa (8-4) are also ahead of U-M, and would be in line to get higher tier bowls. That leaves Michigan potentially going to the Duke's Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina, or even the Music City Bowl in Nashville, Tennessee if Indiana drops out of the CFP. U-M could also jump into the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa, Florida ahead of Iowa.

The Duke's Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina is Friday, Jan. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Bank of America Stadium, home of the NFL's Carolina Panthers, and would be against an ACC team.

The Music City Bowl is at Nissan Stadium, home of the NFL's Tennessee Titans, on Monday, Dec. 30 at 2:30 p.m. and features a Big Ten vs. SEC game. This is the SEC's fifth tier bowl compared to the Big Ten's No. 4 bowl. With three SEC teams potentially going to the CFP, that leaves the projected eighth-best SEC team for the Music City Bowl. That team could be LSU or Missouri.

The Big Ten has tie-ins to seven bowl games this season and the pecking order is as follows:

Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida vs SEC

ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa, Florida vs SEC

Duke's Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, N.C. vs ACC

Music City Bowl in Nashville, Tennessee vs SEC

Pinstripe Bowl in New York vs ACC

Rate Bowl in Phoenix vs Big 12

∎ GameAbove Sports Bowl in Detroit (Ford Field) vs MAC

People who need to spend time with family on holidays are people who don’t have real relationships with their families. I get aging parents and time but outside of that and young children it’s dumb.

I’ve hosted thanksgiving for 20 years. This year I said F it and went to egg bowl. Zero F’s given
