D Mac on the Grammys

guess he thinks grammys are ok,didnt boycott.

Most of the awards that might be of interest to some of us in rock are not done as part of the show.
Beck won for best alternative music album.

Here were the nominees, and I was not aware any of them had released music recently:
Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino by Arctic Monkeys
Utopia by Björk
American Utopia by David Byrne
Masseduction by St. Vincent

St. Vincent should have won in that category.

Looking at the Album of the Year Nominees.
I recognize Drake and Kendrick Lamar. I could not identify any of there music if I heard it:
#GetOffMyLawn
Album of the year
"Invasion of Privacy," Cardi B
"By the Way, I Forgive You," Brandi Carlile
"Scorpion," Drake
"H.E.R.," H.E.R.
"Beerbongs & Bentleys," Post Malone
"Dirty Computer," Janelle Monae
"Golden Hour," Kacey Musgraves
"Black Panther: The Album," Featuring Kendrick Lamar

I have no clue who any of those people are except Kacey Mugraves, Drake and Lady Gaga. I'm sure my teen does, but we didn't watch.[eyeroll] I just wanted to see what everyone was wearing, which was a waste of a google as well. Lol

Cardi B is trash, someone like this should not be nominated for Grammys.....this is pure slumming by the Grammy association. Has nothing to do with race or color and everything to do with them pandering for ratings and popularity at the expense of quality

also the rock nominations are bizarre. I realize that rock has taken a hit lately. Those nominations were a joke because there is some quality stuff out there but they are just nominating older acts because they dont seem to be in tune with what is happening...and yes Greta Von Fleet is new...and solid enough but come on, I really want to like them and I like some of the songs but good lord I think they are overhyped...do something besides a Led Zep cover album and I might be able to get into them.

did Imagine Dragons get nominated? They are the worst....some watered down rock mixed with that annoying EDM production which is ruining music today. They are the Nickleback of the 2010s

who is Childish Gambino

I saw Dua Lipa on the New Years show on Channel 7...its dancy kind of stuff but she seems to have the vocal talents.

as much as I love his prior work.....Chris Cornell? really come on Grammys that song barely qualifies as rock

Such garbage..I remember my mom wouldn't let me listen to Samantha Fox or watch Whitesnakes video with Tawny Kitaen dancing on top of the car... She thought that was too sexual. I have the music restricted on my daughters itunes, but the album cover is a man inbetween Cardi Bs legs and there's no way to block that. It's disgusting.
Looks like he is cleaning lint out of her belly button:

Her newer album cover is more wholesome:

I remember when every one didn’t get a Grammy, can their be anymore categories?

That Cardi B girl is really something. Took a string stand in support of Colin Kapernick against the NFL by saying she would not do the halftime show.

Of course she did do a Super Bowl commercial for Pepsi and played a Super Bowl event the night before the game for which I imagine she was well paid. But what the hell

I feel so Get Off My Lawn.
I think I better stop listing to the oldies stations, don't have a clue of who most of the winners are and probably no idea of how their songs sound.

Now my complaint : oldies stations aren't playing the songs I grew up listing to, they're playing what my kids listened to that I called trash [winking]

I can't remember the last time I watched this nonsense. It is all disposable, worthless garbage. Thirty years from now, few will even be remembered. In fifty years, it will rarely be heard anywhere (how much Elvis,Buddy Holly,Beatles,Eddie Cochran,Chuck Berry, etc. have you heard lately). 99% of these "musicians" couldn't spell Mason Gross,Curtis,Eastman,Juilliard,Oberlin, etc. if you put a gun to their head. Forget about actually getting in and graduating.

Why does it matter whether they could have been admitted to Mason Gross or Julliard? What college did Elvis graduate from? Chuck Berry? Springsteen? McCartney?

We finally agree, Bac. Cardi B is an untalented, illiterate piece of trash that unfortunately is winning the popularity contest among today’s “youth.” Her music is straight garbage and highly inappropriate but what can I say...social media popularity is winning over actual artistry today. She should have never sniffed a Grammy award.

Some gave J Lo some flack for the Motown tribute. A-Rod looked into it:

yes that basically wasnt good but its not about quality...I see why they went with her

however why not just get all the living Motown people up there and have them do it with NO younger artists. I am sure they can pull it off with Diana Ross and Smokey but I bet the egoes are too big
