has totally disappeared the last 3 games

0-1 tonight 0 points
0-1 Hartford 3 points
0-4 Stony Brook 1 points

and only 4 points in the Fordham game which was before his 20 pt outing vs SHU

His disappearance on offense or even as a potential threat is tanking this team right now because there simply is no other scoring options as Thiam is simply not going to take that roll on

What is up with Eugene? Is he hitting the wall?

Think that is part of it ...

Really needs to add the mid range game as teams are figuring out how to guard him right now

As fans I think we are asking for more than these players can produce on a consistent basis which is the reason why league wins will be difficult to achieve.

Glad to hear he played...i thought he was kidnapped.

Frankly, I thought he was injured and didn't play tonight.

His offensive skills are really limited at this point in his career. His foul shooting percentage tells you what you need to know about his shot.

Coincidence or not but he hasn't been the same since the ill-fated inbounds pass vs Stony Brook

He really has.

Inexcusable that he only had 1 shot in that Hartford game. I put that one on the coaches though.

He got to the rim at will against Florida State. Not sure what happened to that.

Every team in the conference (and I truly mean all 13 other programs) have a Top 100 or 75 Small Forward and Power Forward, that can rebound, shoot and create their own offense. It is not fair to ask Eugene to match up as player as a true sophomore, starting Year 2 at this level of competition.

When you play against some programs that weren't quite expecting scoring like Florida State and Seton Hall, Eugene shined and played very well, but you have to be patient, because matchups like Purdue will the difficult..... Ironically, the skill level of Doucoure, flashes immediately with shooting, passing and overall ability, but he is going to have to reign in the moxie....

RU needs more players and player development will help so Eugene can have more consistent efforts. It's amazing how far Eugene has progressed and he still offers tremendous upside but these are the growth peaks and valleys that RU will have to deal with for the next year or two.

His strength is not shooting...it's doing the dirty work, getting rebounds and put backs.

Yes I know but he should have been fed the ball inside the paint and on the baseline against that zone.

Instead our guards lobbed the ball around the perimeter all game.

there is not a pure shooter on this team, thus they will not be competitive with the top half of the league. free throw shooting is telltale @ 61% and if you consistently shoot under 40% from the field you will not be very successful in the Big. Tough road to travel even though we are getting better not enough overall talent at this point.

I like your point about Peaks and Valleys.

Rutgers has 4 young players that will go thru that this year...Duke, Geo, Thaim and Eugene. Unfortunately, we still have vets also going thru peaks and valleys with Sanders, Williams and Freeman. When you have young players in key roles you need the vets to be more consistent in just about every game.

He's not a Big Ten level talent. Neither is Mensah, Sa, Doorson or Freeman, but not to worry, replacements are on the way.

Disagree about Freeman not being a B1G talent, but Yes on all the others. I sometimes shake my head at the stat lines of some of our big men.

Part of me thinks Eugene is deferring to the upperclassmen in Freeman, and not speaking up enough.

Coach has to think about what seniors want it the most going forward. Matchup dependent, but maybe I give Omoyuri more of a run than Freeman, and see what happens. Also, what do you folks think about
Baker Williams as the guards,
or Sanders, Williams

I don't have the btn, but I am going to buy it. Was Williams in in junk time last night?

I think it was the Michigan state game where there was a stretch where he really manned up and went to the
hoop..... I thought at that time, he had arrived, like
John Battle arrived....

Totally mental with him. The movie just made, a couple minutes into the second half to the hall, drew the foul and hit tgat as well, is exactly what he can do when he is confident in himself. Keep doing that and he’ll be phenomenal for the next couple of years.

Jake Dadika grabbed a conference room in the Busch Student Center and sat down for 5 minutes and talked about it with him. Eugene will be ready for Wisconsin game. Take it to the bank!
That was one helluva talk. Dadika has a future as a motivational speaker. Damn, did Eugene play good tonight.

Didn't even see this before I posted during the game. Way to go Jake; this kid has a GREAT game so long as he doesn't let his head take over. Just do what comes naturally!

He looked really confident at the line at the end and coolly sank two free throws. Need him to be this guy more often.

He's the kind of player of guy whose natural attributes COULD allow him to take over games - the next couple of years - from 15-fee to the hoop IF he plays to those abilities, within himself, and doesn't overthink things.

Don't know if this really happened, or how much credit goes to Jake, but Eugene was phenomenal tonight. Great job by Eugene (and Jake too).

I think FIG was having a little fun at MO's expense since MO suggested elsewhere that we should have a team meeting to solve our free throw shooting woes.
