Corey Sanders is as proud of an RU alum as anyone - I didn’t know he stays up in the middle of the night to watch our games from Poland where he plays … he has tried but hasn’t been back to the RAC yet for a game with his pro schedule, when he does we need to give him a massive welcome back !!
The first big win of the Steve Pikiell era at Rutgers came in a rivalry game against Seton Hall at the Rutgers Athletic Center. Corey Sanders, the star of that game, shares some never-before-told memories surrounding that day with NJ Advance Media.

“I’m just happy to say I went to Rutgers,” he said. “I came in and did my part and the guys after me came in and changed the whole thing around. I’m so glad Geo came in and did what he did. I’m pretty sure I taught him things along the way. And he took that and taught that to the next guys coming in.
“Every time I watch them, I’m amazed. I’m just so impressed with what Coach Pikiell and those players are doing right now and what they’ve been able to do. I’m just thankful to see that it’s carried on. I think we have one of the best fan bases, one of the best student sections in the world and it shows. When people come into the RAC, they’re terrified. To Rutgers fans, keep being you.”
