GAME THREAD: RU MBB v NORTHWESTERN, 9p RAC, ESPNU, story :

Playing playground ball.

Get the fvcking ball the Gettys inside. Dude has post posting on a stick and no one even looks at him. If nothing else it balances the floor.

Why don't we give Gettys a chance in the post? That's the only way he can be effective. He's terrible on pick and rolls to the basket because he can't jump. Needs to be able to put his body into the defender

The amount of brick layers we have on this team is unreal. How can you be a college player and be this crappy at shooting?

Exactly. In the what should be flow offense when he has his man pinned, give it to him.

Gettys in the post is basically asking for a block, miss, offensive foul or turnover. Guy doesn't know how to use his size, can't jump, and doesn't keep the ball high. His propensity to dribble and bring the ball down eliminates his size advantage. He's not savvy enough to realize that.

These announcers are falling all over themselves over Northwestern, and it's an RU home game. Normally the home team gets a little love.

Disagree. When in position he has reasonable moves. It's when he gets a rebound or passed the ball in awkward positions that he can't do anything.

Ever since Williams was named captain, he stinks.

Can't shoot, and he is not working hard on D.
And he won't stay with his man at the 3 point line.

He just ran out to put a hand up on a 3 point shooter in front of NW bench.
Ran by the shooter, then walked back on the court.
Of course, his man gets an easy rebound, pass, and more 2nd chance points.

Here's a fundamental problem we have--we are never in position to shoot when we catch the ball. Part of that is our soft passing, which gives more time for defenders to get to the ball. The other part is where the ball is thrown to the guy getting the ball--good passers get the ball to the shooter in the position he likes to catch and shoot. Another problem is none of our guys have their feet set when the ball comes their way. When Mike Williams has had good games all of those things have been properly in place.

these two give us the best chance to win. who do you think should replace them? we lose because we can't score and these two (and williams) are really the only people that can create their own shot
Exactly - can't believe people would actually say to sit them.
