Maybe not the best night for teams that were surprises on the NCAA top 20 list

Big Ten

Minnesota 93 Wisconsin 82 - Kelley with 33 and 14 for the Golden Gophers
Northwestern 73 Purdue 65 OT - I kind of like the Wildcats for the NCAAs
Indiana 85 Illinois 58 - there's something I like about this score
Michigan State 74 Penn State 67 - Spartans get out of the cellar

Other RU opponents

Rhode Island 63 St. Joseph's 61 OT - Hawks came back from down 8 at the half, but couldn't finish
Colgate 67 Boston University 54 - BU is pretty lousy

Other ranked teams

#3 Baylor 89 Oklahoma 66 - Sooners get one more game against the Lady Bears, lucky them
St. Louis 79 #20 George Washington 61 - this is a really bad loss for the Colonials

Also - Big 12 night plus one

Texas Tech 71 Iowa State 58 - something of an upset
Kansas State 93 Texas Christian 79 - something of an upset
Oklahoma State 66 Texas 60 - 4 losses in a row, 6 of last 7, 8 of last 10, so maybe not an upset
Dayton 79 Richmond 41 - Dayton was the highest RPI team not on the NCAA's top 20 list

Current B12 standings (with RPIs from Warren Nolan):

1. Baylor 12-0/23-1 (RPI 1)
2. Oklahoma 9-3/15-8 (22)
3t. Iowa State 6-6/15-8 (49)
3t. TCU 6-6/14-9 (74)
5t. Oklahoma State 5-7/15-8 (64)
5t. Kansas State 5-7/15-8 (52)
5t. West Virginia 5-7/15-9 (63)
8t. Texas 4-8/15-8 (31)
8t. Texas Tech 4-8/14-10 (111)
8t. Kansas 4-8/13-12 (77)

After Oklahoma and Baylor, the conference looks like a hot mess. 5 teams are outside the usual RPI range for getting into the tournament, Texas is sitting 4 games under .500 in conference (and I don't recall a team getting a bid with that kind of conference record), and Iowa State and K State are questionable.

Today:

Other RU opponents 0-1

Year to date:

Big Ten 115-40
Other RU opponents 107-122

There has been one palindromic scores in 50 games today. That makes 30 palindromic scores in 4,150 games this year.

Ya know, there can be no argument that the AAC is one of the worst conferences, but I gotta say that the B12 doesn't register very high on the degree of difficulty scale, either. 9 of the 10 teams have 8 or more losses. Not surprising Baylor is 23-1.

No disagreement from this corner. There's a reasonable argument that the B12 doesn't deserve any more bids than the AAC.

They'll get bids...the sec used to get bids with sub 500 league marks...however the aac is atrocious you cannot say with a straight face that they deserve the same amount of bids

I think the B12 has had the most bids for teams with sub-.500 league records, actually, but in most of those years the teams had great RPIs. This year, well, nobody is in the safe range except Baylor and Oklahoma. I suppose the good news for most of them is that if they go on a run, they can move up pretty easily.
