Monday's always nicer with a win.

B1G

#8 Maryland 58 Purdue 55 – Charles had 20 and 13 to help the Terps hold off the Boilermakers
#10 Iowa 74 Nebraskas 58 – Huskers made a game of it then Hawkeyes pulled away in 4th

After today’s games, Maryland and Iowa will be 1st and 2nd, but the order is not determined; RU can finish as high as 3rd (which I think would be the best finish since joining the B1G) and no worse than 5th. Meanwhile, Purdue can still finish as high as 5th and as low as 11th.

Other RU opponents

St. Francis (PA) 86 St. Francis (BKN) 84 – you can throw out the records when these two play
Mt. St. Mary’s 61 Central Connecticut 44 – 6 losses in a row for the Blue Devils

Other ranked teams

#1 Baylor 64 #18 Texas 35 – the gap really is that big
#4 Notre Dame 98 #17 Syracuse 68 – see previous comment
#19 Texas A&M 80 Florida 62 – Wells had 24 for the Aggies

Also – a look at the MEAC

South Carolina State 72 North Carolina Central 60 – Lady Bulldogs get to .500 for the season and in conference
Coppin State 85 Delaware State 59 – Eagles break 6-game losing streak
Howard 74 Morgan State 62 – actually kind of a back-and-forth affair
North Carolina A&T 73 Savannah State 69 – Aggies clinch regular season MEAC title at 14-0 in conference

Today:

B1G: 0-0
Other RU opponents: 1-1

If we win at least one of the two left we will be third.
If we win both we will be third.
If we lose both we will be fifth

Maryland 14-3 only has Illinois left. We cannot catch them even if the Illini pull off the biggest upset of the year. Pretty good bet the Terps get the first place position.

Iowa13-4 only has Northwestern on Sunday. The worst they can finish is 13-5. They hold the head-to-head tie breaker over Rutgers. Only played once, an Iowa win Jan 23 that started our skid.

Rutgers 11-5. Two wins end up 13-5. Head-to-head tie breaker goes to Iowa even if they lose to NW. They get #2 seed and Rutgers gets #3.

Split our last two, end up 12-6. The teams behind us already have 7 losses. Rutgers earns #3 seed.

Rutgers loses both and ends up 11-7.
Ohio State at 9-7 has Wisc and Rutgers.
Michigan at 10-7 only has Wisc.
Hard to imagine Wisc winning either game.
If we lose both three teams 11-7. Michigan gets the #3 seed.
Ohio State gets #4. Rutgers drops to #5.
(Michigan beat Ohio St Jan 20 and beat Rutgers last week.
Ohio State lost to Michigan, beat Rutgers in our dreadful Valentines Day meeting 59-39. Rutgers now 0-2 with Ohio State Sunday)
If we lose to the Gophers on Thur we will be playing Ohio State
with a win = #3 seed and a loss = #5.

I want the #3 seed and the brackets to hold so we get another shot at Iowa. The loss to Iowa was the game where we shot 4 of 25 from three
and 8 of 12 from the charity stripe while Iowa made 19 0f 25 free throws.
