ExactlyExactly - Go play with some old guys (30+) you see higher level shooting than any college game.
Everything is in slow-motion relatively speaking - but they can make shots. Tons more reps.

We aren't talking about turning a poor shooter into a good one. This scenario is a player who was specifically recruited to be a shooter finding their stroke. Sometimes it just doesn't happen at the college level though. Maybe their range is just limited to a HS 3 point distance. Williams and now Hyatt both were 3 point snipers in HS who shoot below 30% from 3 after 4 years of sample size thoughIt’s much more difficult and rarer than most fans think to significantly improve as a shooter
If it were easy everyone would be doing it
"Old guys" 30+ 🤣🤣😢Exactly - Go play with some old guys (30+) you see higher level shooting than any college game.

Yup - makes you skeptical of HS numbers too - coaches can pretty much make those upWe aren't talking about turning a poor shooter into a good one. Exactly. Gotta get yourself one of these:"Old guys" 30+ 🤣🤣😢
I knocked down about 6 threes last night at pickup against some young guns and I'm pushing 40 for example
That stroke is so sweet 😍🙌
I like it
So true man. It’s really hard to be a good shooter at the highest levels of competiton. There are plenty of guys who are great shooters in high school but not at the next level. The competition he faced at Bishop Loughlin wasn’t even close to low major level D1 caliber on average. Maybe a few D1 players on each team he played at max. Many teams there would’ve been no college level players period.
It’s not only about spot shooting percentage. It’s about how quick your release is, how high is your release point, etc. to this point, Mike lived up to his high school consistency at the FT line when nobody was guarding him.

I used to think this but in hindsight I don’t think it could be further from the truth.Exactly
They're both true.I used to think this but in hindsight I don’t think it could be further from the truth.
Imo you cannot separate the level of difficulty the highest levels of basketball opponents create when trying to get off shots.
Thanks, good stuff.
I’m starting to believe we are underestimating the chances that Griffiths is one and done. Thanks, good stuff.
If Griffiths DOESN'T get bumped off his line in B1G play on his drives, he's a one-and-done first-round pick.
AJ Griffin was the 16th pick - right in the middle - of the 2022 draftI’m starting to believe we are underestimating the chances that Griffiths is one and done.
Let’s say he doesn’t get bumped off his line and hits his 3pointers and is projected as a mid 1st round pick.
But Bailey and Harper are solidly committed amongst the other guys in the 24 class. What are the chances he comes back to play and make a real run at RU?
It may depend on how good a time he has and if the season is fun and he believes in the coaches. He's only young and in college once... why rush things? Sure, injury is possible.. but how likely is that really? If NBA is there for a 1 and done it will be there for 2 and done.I’m starting to believe we are underestimating the chances that Griffiths is one and done.

He would have to be an absolute idiot not to declare for the draft if he is projected to be a mid first round pick. John Calipari has basically forced players to go pro if they were expected to be first round picks because he has said he does not want to be responsible for them making that kind career mistake, and will point to Dajuan Wagner, who wanted to come back, but Cal insisted he go pro, and then was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, and fortunately had the benefits and protections of having signed a multiyear NBA contract.I’m starting to believe we are underestimating the chances that Griffiths is one and done.

ahhhh... makes senseBasically no one turns down a 1st round projection (the Duke guy this year is an extreme anomaly).
In 2025 he would be competing with a whole new round of younger freshman for draft spots (for example Bailey and Harper would he in the same draft).
Potentially he drops and gets a worse 1st contract - costing himself millions.
He’d also be delaying a year until he gets his 2nd contract - which is where the real money is at.
This guy is worth a follow. He does great player breakdowns
Great combo of length and athleticism…but it’s not Lebron-level athleticism. GG is VERY polished for a high-school player.Hilarious the evaluations of Gavin’s athleticism as not elite then video showing him doing elite stuff
LeBron is a freak athletically. Only a small number of players in NBA history are in his class.Great combo of length and athleticism…but it’s not Lebron-level athleticism. GG is VERY polished for a high-school player.
Yes, he's not LeBron. Nobody else is either.Great combo of length and athleticism…but it’s not Lebron-level athleticism. GG is VERY polished for a high-school player.
Lol... even the other kids in the 2003 draft (outside of Melo, Wade, and Bosh) were not Lebron level. Gavin doesn't have to be a generational talent to go in the first round. He's already a very good athlete and great shooter. He needs to add bulk and strength.Great combo of length and athleticism…but it’s not Lebron-level athleticism. I’m just thinking that his leg length may hurt his lateral movement a bit and having a stronger upper body would help him shield off guys. His Achilles (hops) talent looks fine and his length makes it look easy for him to get to the rim. I personally hope he’s on the ‘24-‘25 championship contender roster.Lol... even the other kids in the 2003 draft (outside of Melo, Wade, and Bosh) were not Lebron level. Too early to predict going pro after 1 year, but he's got as much talent as any freshman in the big 10.
From a program standpoint, it would be amazing to have 2-3 kids go in the first round in the 2025 draft, after (hopefully) a deep run in the tournament. That's a lot of talent for Pike to replace. 😉I’m just thinking that his leg length may hurt his lateral movement a bit and having a stronger upper body would help him shield off guys. Could happen. If Cliff returns for his final year, he should be able to do some damage playing against 18-20 year old big men and I could see a deep NCAA run and then several guys drafted for sure. From a program standpoint, it would be amazing to have 2-3 kids go in the first round in the 2025 draft, after (hopefully) a deep run in the tournament.
