Girl Singing Anthem Has WRONG HAND Over her "Heart"

Sources report that she wore socks on her hands while having fish and red wine from her water glass for dinner before entering the arena backward through an exit door and going directly to the Men’s Room where she squatted on a urinal, blow-dried her hair with the hand dryer, removed a pair of scissors from her front pocket and held them in front of her as she ran to the court to sing the national anthem. So, you know, she did alright considering.

Seriously, there are likely more than 20,000 Americans whose heart is on the right side, not the left.
Unless her heart is at the bottom of her neck she was nowhere close lol! Also (for those who just don't know.....):

  • Civilians: Stand at attention and face the flag with your right hand over your heart. If you're wearing a hat, remove it with your right hand and hold it at your left shoulder.

Is the flag allowed to be backwards if your presidential candidate doesn't win?

OK, I might as well weigh in with my National Anthem pet peeve. For years now, the announcer at the RAC has been telling people to stand for the Anthem and remove your hats. He shouldn't have to tell anybody to remove their hats. Everyone should know. I've heard this other places too, but many events still just say please rise for the National Anthem. The hat thing takes care of itself. Does our announcer think a Rutgers crowd is less patriotic than other places? Having attended many NASCAR races over the years, I've seen very clearly how well the crowd can police the removing your hat rule without any guidance from the announcer! Alright, I lived with that little annoyance in silence for years, but then a few years ago he started telling military and service people to salute or something like that. Who the hell is he to tell people whether to salute or not? Please rise for the National Anthem works just fine. Sorry, but I feel better now 🙂

Having gotten that off my chest. I'm willing to give the girl that is the subject of this thread a break, it's a tough song to sing and a lot of pressure, I don't think she intended any disrespect. I've seen some wonderful performances of the Anthem in person, including one by Ben Vereen that still gives me chills, but my absolute favorite is one that didn't go so well that I only saw on TV, let's all try to be like Maurice Cheeks.

I've never seen that before. Cheeks was always a class act. Thanks for sharing! I now hope to think of that version instead of this one when I hear someone have trouble with the national anthem.

And not a word about the players who just stood there and did nothing. She did an excellent job singing the national anthem and didn't need to salute at all.
After posting above Virginiarufan, I went back and watched 6 or 7 performances of the Anthem by artists like Whitney Houston (the iconic Super Bowl performance), a couple by opera singer Robert Merrill, Bette Midler and Ben Vereen, none of them placed either of their hands over their heart or otherwise attempted any sort of a salute while they were singing.

Well you are the unhinged one.
Exactly how am I being “unhinged?”
For being patriotic?

It was just a spur of the moment thing. I just couldn’t believe that she not only was using the wrong hand, but that it was nowhere near her heart, and I decided to start a thread about it. My bad. She’s probably a wonderful young lady, and she has a fantastic voice, not taking that away from her.

Unreal. What a disrespectful idiot. Uses left hand and it's over ...well...NOT her heart.

What's worse:

Girl putting hand on right side of chest instead of left while singing the national anthem

OR

VP of the US screwing up the pledge of allegiance on the Senate floor?

To be fair, that was the Pledge of Allegiance not the National Anthem, thank God she didn't try to sing the Anthem 🙂
