Golder Decommits from RU

In all honesty, the PSU aspect was minor to me but what really stood out is she simply wasn't that good in front of the camera. Didn't come off as a naturally smooth talker like good reporters should.

What happened to the other one we saw in the last thread on this topic?

Diallo I think was her last name? Rutgers girl?

I thought she was pretty good.

See, this is one of the many reasons our fan base sucks. The amount of spew being typed just because she was not good at her job is classless. I'd like to think we are better than this. Yes, I would like to see an RU student get the job, but it shouldn't be the prerequisite.

MG is probably upset enough about losing a job. Instead of wishing her well, people are on here putting her down.

This job should ABSOLUTELY go to a Rutgers student.

None of the ire is about her. It's about a rutgers administration that proves time and time again that it is obtuse to even the most common sensibilities. Instead of admitting they messed up, they even defend their lack of diligence, holding a quick glance at a candidates social media page to be akin to an FBI background check. RU put this poor kid in a very difficult situation, and it was totally foreseeable.

Agree, we should give her a trophy instead. I mean after all she did try.

Dis anyone think that she was the most qualified?

Quite a few people initially defended RU's choice and said "Did anyone ever think that maybe she was the most qualified"? After a few weeks of watching her videos I have a very hard time believing that.

I think constructive criticism is fair - this girl was a couple years out of college and had various positions in the field. At what point is it okay to start pointing out things someone can work on? A month after I started working out of college I received my first work review...

we have a very good, loyal fan base. Very good tailgate scene too.
The way a couple of guys feel about the sideline reporter is no indication of how good/bad the fan base is. You think Auburn has a better fan base than us...? Because they would have been 100x worse if an alabama gal was hired instead of an auburn girl.

Does anyone know where this job listing was posted originally when she got the job or where it would be now? I know a former RU cheerleader that is in the field and i told her about this whole situation

Meanwhile Otterstat is on Facebook claiming it was a summer internship.

As others have said it is not that she was hired that bothered me, it was the "she was the best option and superior candidate" that got to me. I agree an "internship" should go to an in house hire. A full fledged hire should go to best available candidate but you better be two things. 1 head and shoulders above every other candidate and 2 not from your arch rival with a history of questionable recent postings on social media. I believe her "dismissal" was a direct to response to the backlash from this board. Maybe mow the person that hired her firmly understands this criteria.

No, we should show a little class and just let her go on their way. So she wasn't up to par. Doesn't mean we need a thread putting her down.

SCILS doesn't have a sports broadcasting course or curriculum. what makes Rutgers students more qualified? The fact that they go to Rutgers?

It doesn't mean that a Rutgers student is more qualified. It means this "internship" with RVision should be reserved for a Rutgers student or new grad who seeks much needed "on-camera" experience as a career path enhancement.

Here';s why I disagree with just leaving her alone. This is the profession she chose. If you are going to earn a living in the public eye reporting and/or critiquing what other pros do the why she get treated any differently? When a person chooses to express every thought, belief, or feeling on twitter, Instagram, or whatever other avenue is being used today then it is all open for discussion. Want to be in a pin up calendar? Then don't be surprised when people comment on your look, figure, etc.
