Only pike would coach them to keep missing 100 3's with Columbia can't make a basket
It was actually his right knee. He tweaked it when he slipped guarding Geronimo.
Harper with only 3 points, but 7 boards and 6 assists - PG. Bailey hitting 8-11 for 17. And JMike with 9/2/2 and 2 steals - if we could get him to hit a few shots each game, he'd be a positive, given his defense.
Hayes 1-5 and Derkack/Martini/Acuff 0-6 for a combined 1-11 off the bench outside of LS's 2-2.
Up 9 at the half is nice, but feels like it should be more.

I love that Pike is using Hayes and Martini out there. Unfortunately, Hayes is not hitting his open looks. I think he’s 1-5. Davis surprisingly has hit two threes. Again, however, when Pike has Martini and Hayes in there he refuses to play zone and we got burned on two successive plays at the end of the first half.

I think Dylan was watching Illinois yesterday and decided to go for a triple double today. 7 rebounds, 6 assists.
Columbia got fortunate on a few 3s in that half as well. Overall playing well
We actually had quality looks from three for once. Problem is we didn’t make as many as we should. JMike making threes and our so called 3 point specialists can’t make anything. Can we throw Martini, Hayes and Acuff back into the portal, like when you toss a fish back the lake?
Good first half but Hayes and Martini need to start hitting open shots FFS. How many good look 3s are they going to miss!? Columbia shooting +50% isn’t a great sign for 2nd half.

We could easily be up 20. Columbia had two very lucky threes that were bad shots and we bricked many wide open ones.
Sad state of affairs when we need our freshman phenom to gut it out and play through pain for a non-con game against an Ivy... but we can't afford to lose this game. Wish the supporting cast was better.
Wrong! The aforementioned kids need to hit their threes. I will agree that when those kids are in there Pike is too stubborn to go to zone.
The two guys who should almost never play are Martini and Acuff. For Acuff to score so many points last year the rest of his team must have really sucked.

Harper and Ace should take turns in the foul line spot. Whoever is on the outside should be floating around to the different spots. This team looks uncoached on offense.
Acuff, Martini and Hayes should be hunting 3 point shots by getting in a good shooting position. If you told me I was allowed to shot the 3 anytime I caught it in a good shooting position,I'd get to the spot quicker and I'd look to set up closer to the 3 point line when the passing lane allowed it.
