Haskins to announe on Friday???

I see that Mo Jabbie has not retweeted Haskins tweet. This tells me that he already knows and unfortunately it seems that it my very well be MD. I hope I am wrong but too many people are saying it's Maryland.
Cool, thanks for checking out a 16 year olds Twitter.

That makes my point even stronger. This one should be a no brainer. Flood needs Haskins to choose RU bad. If it's Maryland, that's makes them a contender and a serious rival. We needed the comeback of the century to beat them last year without Haskins.

+1 - All I hear is that Flood is going up against the elite and I understand that we are going to lose out more often than not against OSU, UM, MSU, PSU, etc.. But if we can't beat out a mediocre MD program with a mediocre coach, we are screwed.

COME ON HASKINS WE LOVE YOU KID AND WE NEED YOU! Come and become a legend in the biggest media market not only in the country, but in the WORLD!

This would be another impressive get by Randy Edsall. A few years ago he landed one of the most dynamic and highly rated players in the country. When he signed Stefon Diggs. Haskins is really good. Maryland will be on the come up in a few years

Train wreck? Two seasons ago you finished 6-7 in the Big East and -- despite beating us -- you finished behind us in the Big Ten last year. Our 2013 recruiting class was ranked higher than yours by both 247 and Rivals, our 2014 the same, and our 2015 is ranked higher by 247 (you are 53 and we are 54 on Rivals). Not to mention our 2016 class is already well ahead of yours and we are about to land a top five QB who literally grew up in the same town as your school.

But yeah...train wreck. Takes one to know one I guess.
1 word...Mike Locksley...RE was forced to hire him or possibly lose his job...RE will never be more than adequate...KF is at the very least a better HC and much better as a recruiter than RE on personalty alone. No Locksley Md becomes Md in FB.

No RE cant recruit...ask UConn fans...he makes hamburger out of 2 stars. Not much of a recruiter.

My post was probably unfair. My opinion of Maryland football is based on your HC, who I believe is a disaster. Can't recruit, can't coach. But you guys are recruiting well despite him, I will give you that. We will see how it materializes on the field.

Its probably some sour grapes as well. We used to never lose a recruit to Edsall when he was at UConn.

Piscataway is the biggest media market in the world??

Boooooooo.

1. Best college football team in NY and NJ and Delware and Maryland and hopefully soon PA (for recent history and like past decade obviously not historically since PSU won national championships while weird things went on in thier bathrooms.)

2. NJ has the highest per capita income in the nation I believe beating out Maryland. Or maybe it was highest median income, but it was something like that.

3. Also biggest advertising market because of amount of businesses located in NJ and NY and DE and MD and PA.

Oh and besides just money and eyeballs and advertising and marketing, etc. on Gameday Piscataway is officially the place to be! I would say 2 of my top memories/experiences last year were in Piscataway at High Point Solution Stadium. The Penn State and Michigan games were absolutely crazy and awesome and hostile and so intense I was constantly getting goosebumps. I had never seen so many people literally becoming the 12th man and changing the game just as much as the star of either team. Hackenburg either had to call a timeout or wasn't able to communicate audibles and protection schemes or got a delay of game penalties greater than 10 times if you combined them all and that is being very conservative it is probably way more than that!

So hey you can try to hate, but that view of your is do to your own bias and definitely falls short of telling the real story.

Were you attempting to answer my question? Big swing and a miss.

The negative posters here make this board nearly impossible to enjoy. I can handle and appreciate realistic pessimism, but some of you guys are unbearable. That's if you are legit and not trolls from other fanbases.

Those stating we have no chance, have you met the kid?

I have and will tell you he is giving us a serious look. He could choose to go elsewhere and I will wish him well no matter what. He is a really nice kid and I love his enthusiasm for the game. Hope to see him choose scarlet and start the ball rolling for a killer class.

Anyone saying we have no shot is clueless.
Realistic pessimism would be to write off anyone who isnt a four star player and considering RU. Thats realistic based on Flood's three prior recruiting classes and this one so far.

I mean ultimately its like rain though. You could predict 49% chance of rain - but you cant get 49% wet. Its either raining or its not. So since hes not coming here, saying 0% of 15% or 40% are the same.

If you want to enjoy recruiting season, root for another team or a better recruiter on this team.

The "what if we get JG AND Haskins?" and " Haskins is the better of the 2, anyway" threads seems so quaint now.

I want Haskins too. If he doesn't come here, we still have Dare who is a great prospect + Steve Duncan looks like the real thing. I hope we land Duncan too

Who said that Steve Duncan is the real thing? Don't kid yourself. If we miss out on all the big time recruits, it is a really bad thing for the future of the program.

I think Haskins is a straight up, smart kid who has genuinely had us in it the whole way. He wouldn't jerk around Jabbie or the coaches with whom he clearly has cultivated real relationships. I also believe Jabbie's silence on Twitter about Haskins' plans to announce should be expected whether it's RU or not. A close friend would request as much to prevent the inevitable nonsensical speculation in every direction that would come from any related tweets.

No KaCuckoo says don't worry. Flood is getting all the recruits we need to be competitive with the top teams in the B1G.

People with Salmon jerseys shouldn't poke fun at others
Guys not RU bound it looks like time to regroup and fie the program to rethink the recruiting strategy . Maybe go back to the ole under the radar guys .

yes unless you don't understand media markets and
DMA's? Thats the best you can do? Going to your barn for some ice cream.
Well I do know the NYC media market quite well, global media market, in fact, and I can tell you that your're basing your comments on a media market from 20 years ago.

Yes and I would say that is because Rutgers was better than Uconn. That's more on the schools and infrastructure than on the coaches.

Maryland is FAR and away better as a football school than Rutgers. When we left the ACC we had the 3rd most conference champioinships only behind FSU and Clemson. We have 1 National championship to our name a few undefeated seasons. NFL and College hall of famers.

I take nothing away from Rutgers, and the last decade has been good for you. Better than our last 10 years, but our facilities are better and so is our tradition. We get kids to the NFL same as you. We are very similar. You have the #1 market in TV. We have the #4 when you combine D.C. and Baltimore. We both play in the shadow of major pro teams. We both are benefiting from better conferences. However, we have a leg up in a lot of areas especially facilities. I think RU will catch up over time, but it's not going to happen over night.

However, Maryland is a hot trendy place to go with UA.

Randy maybe a average coach, but he runs a tight program, doesn't cheat on academics, the players love him, and parents trust him to educate their kids.

If you give him a lot of talent, he'll win.

From one Terp to another: don't go too overboard here. I think Maryland is probably more appealing than Rutgers from a recruiting standpoint, but that's not to say we have been very successful over the last 5-10 years. We had some great years under Fridge, but since Rutgers has been relevant nationally -- the last 10 years or so -- the programs have been pretty darn similar from an on-field perspective. Under Armour puts MD over the top.

Terp, yea UMD is slightly a better football school than RU. That is respect to history, facilities, and the NFL. Don't overdue it. Not much difference from a recruit's perspective.

I'd say everything you said is reasonable B1GTerp...i won't argue with most of what you say..we all have our own perspective but from what i understand I doubt RE is a beloved coach !?! Didn't you're team near mutiny forcing the hire of Locksley against RE's wish's by the AD at the time ? Its no secret RE was always recruiting under the radar kids even at Md until ML came onboard saving RE's hide and the hiring AD's reputation. I mean RE was a disaster up till that point!! It was interesting enough that I who never went to your boards at the time to follow the threads on Testudo about dump RE.Very hot topic then.

Very objective view from a Md fan Shimmy..gives you much more credibility IMO... its hard for fans to really be objective most the time. And i wouldn't say far and away either...if better at all this century in the GS era. Perspective here.

I said the players love him. They play hard for him. I have talked to many and they do really like him, more than most coaches I hav seen.

The fans don't love him, most people are just tolerating him. We appreciate the clean program and decent recruiting, but he has been awful in media. Granted the media was AWFUL to him and seems to portray him in a bad light, and he really doens't seem to care about chanigng that opinion.

Local coaches and parents love him, because he is at least honest with them.

Like I said the train wreck is mostly the old AD that set up Ralph to be run out of town by James Franklin. New AD wanted Mike Leach and Board of reagents at last second screwed him, and he had to hire Randy late in game. Whole thing was a mess. That mess caused a lot of people to leave the program and fans to be mad.

You don't fire Ralph for Randy, but you do fire him for Mike Leach who is a quote machine, on 60 minutes and would have given us a national profile.

Again like I said last 10 years Rutgers has been better on the field. I think the Big East was weaker than the ACC and MD would have done fine there. So if you want to compare both schools we have better facilities, tradtion, and record. Rutgers is 641–621–42 and Maryland is 620–553–43. We have 11 conference titles you have 4. We have 5 undefeated regular seasons and 1 outright and 1 conested national championship. You are better recently. We are about even on NFL players. Now that we are on even ground, we'll see how things go. You beat us this round, but we got the all important PSU win. I'll take a win over PSU and a loss to Rutgers any day, every year.

I would love to hear how a WSU fan would respond to this. Not going so well for Mike out there. I like Mike too, but if you presently ranked Mike vs. Flood or Randy, I don't think you would get too many Mike votes.

" I'll take a win over PSU and a loss to Rutgers any day, every year." That's a low blow. I still wake-up in the middle of the night seeing that air-ball from Nova over a wide-open Kroft for the game clinching 1st down vs. Ped.

I mean seriously, Mike Leach would probablly do better than Flood or Randy in our markets. He would be all over the news constantly and bring more people in to see the games and would be all about offense.

Do you know where Washington State is? There is NO talent out there. Any is taken quickly by Oregon or Washington pretty quick.

Ton of more talent here in MD/NJ/PA/VA/NY all 4 hours away.

You sound like a classic Kyle Flood defender defending Mike Leach that way. And that's coming from a classic Kyle Flood defender (just don't tell anyone that I am a Kyle Flood defender--I'll get attacked on Twitter).

I think Leach's gimmicky offense is not going to get it done. By the way, I liked his first book. I also like that he went to law school and bagged becoming a lawyer to become a football coach.

that wasn't very nice. the captains did that on their own w/o any nudging from Edsall or someone from his staff? ehhh, i don't know.

beating us is a great way to start a rivalry (check). but encouraging kids to not shake their opponents hands?

Rutgers has TONS of grease trucks... that has to count for something right?

If a 5 star QB commits here on Friday, this board will explode in insanity.

RE even at UConn with UR players had a knack for occasionally pulling an unlikely win like when they beat a down ND team but consistency was his problem. I think Md will be fine though..I always liked their style...i did hate the RE hire though...similar but with better results than the Pasqualoni hire by UConn...RE is a much better HC than him though.
