Hire Butch!

He gave your only two 9 win seasons in over decade. He took over a program that just had 6,5,5 win seasons. Idk about decimating your S&C program. I do know preformed the best out of any coach you've had in a long time.

You do realize that it was the worst decade in UT's football history, don't you? He also decimated our S&C program and gave us our first 4-8 season in school history. He's not all bad, if you hire him you just better hope he learned from his mistakes and his two years in Satan's coaches rehabilitation program.

And Pruitt is a million times worse. Tenn fans celebrated this weekend like they won a national championship just for making a bowl game with a very weak schedule - which Butch did in his sleep at UT.
Just wondering where you saw Tennessee fans celebrating like we had won a National Championship. We've actually won six of them and I know how great that feels, but I didn't see anybody that excited this weekend. I'm guessing you're confused on what that's feels like.

He had two good seasons. Don't get me wrong. I really hope if he gets the job he does well. I just think Schiano is going to give you a much better chance for long term success. Butch did some things well (his first recruiting class at Tennessee was great, but it was based on a lot of instate talent and quite a fewlegacy Vols, many of which transferred out or left the program), but he didn't develop talent and he went through 3 or 4 S&C coaches in four years. I'm not convinced that he didn't learn from his mistakes. He very well may have, and I hope he did. Most coaches do. I hope he does. Most get better with each stop. Just as going from the Big East was an adjustment for RU, it was the same for Butch going to the SEC. If I had only been a fan (or Alum) for ten seasons, his having two 9 win seasons would mean a lot more to me than t does. Being a fan, Alum, donor and season ticket holder for decades means I've seen the good and the bad and two 9 win seasons doesn't mean jack squat. That decade was baaaaaaad.

You realize Butch also pulled a 4-8 after he decimated our recruiting and S&C programs, right? That's why he got his ass fired and hasn't ben able to get a HC job since. I like Rutgers, and I hope they do well. Old Butch would be a disaster. I hope he has learned from his mistakes, that's all. As for Pruitt, the guy has won 3 NC's as a DC and was recruiter of the year a couple of times. He's rebuilt the S&C program, and recruited well. UT fans are happy with him because we're going to a bowl in year two (after taking over a 4-8 program that somebody left him) and we get 15 extra practices when we'll be returning 8 defensive starters and 8 defensive starters along with both kickers next year. I consider myself a Rutgers fan, but I just think that if you hire Butch, you'd better hope he's learned from his mistakes. I hope your fan base revolts like ours did, only this time for Schiano. He's not asking for anything that is unreasonable if you want to compete in the Big 10. He got it done last time he was here and he'll do even better if he's given the tools to make it happen this time. Jersey guy, know NJ, and has recruited the area well. Your BOG (and Hobbs) are basically saying they don't want to invest in the program if they don't hire him.
I appreciate your input here but he went 4-6 in 2017. Can't assign him losses you did not give him the opportunity to win. Also in 2017 you had both Bama and LSU as cross over games, I think most years this happens you don't have a great season.

Trevor Lawrence grew up in Kingsport, TN thorough 8th grade and idolized Peyton Manning. He wears #16 (Peyton's UT #, not his NFL #). He and his parents were huge UT fans. He wanted to commit to Tennessee at camp his junior year. Butch told him he wasn't good enough to play at UT. Butch missed on a lot of huge, big time recruits. Butch also completely decimated UT's strength and conditioning program. As someone who grew up in NJ and has always been a Rutgers fan (outside of the rare occasion when they play UT), if he gets the job I really hope he has learned from his mistakes and spending a couple of years in the Satan coach's rehabilitation program. Unfortunately I think the BOG's inability/refusal to go all in on the guy that was a perfect fit (Schiano) does not bode well for the future. They could hire Nick Satan and have Urban Meyer, Dabo Swinney and Bob Stoops on staff and not win if the administration and BOG are not all on board. We went through something similar at UT in the mid 2000's and we're still trying to recover.
Just stop. EVERY coach has a laundry list on missed big time recruits.

Same guy who told Trevor Lawrence he wasn't good enough to play at Tennessee and then there's JJ Watt...directly from his Wiki page:
Watt received a scholarship offer from Central Michigan University and matriculated there. He has stated that he was led to believe by Butch Jones that, as a tight end, he would have the opportunity to score touchdowns. At Central Michigan, he played 14 games, compiling 77 receiving yards and 8 receptions.[13][14] Watt's coaches, led by Butch Jones, suggested that he move to offensive tackle, but Watt decided to forgo his starting spot and scholarship to walk on at the University of Wisconsin, where he played as a defensive end.[15]
yep. people look at his record as coach and talk about how good he is. at central he took over after brian kelly left. kelly left him with most talent in the mac including a nfl qb and wr and 5 nfl ol. cincy he took over after brian kelly left and once again brian kelly left him a stacked roster. the year after he left central michigan they were 3-9 and had rebuild the talent.

Butch would be a Big time Hire ..Schiano would be a hire because fans/donors attended the Big Louisville win when we finished 2nd in The Big East and stormed the field and it was the best thing that happened to them Athletically related. Butch coached in Big East 3 years and has 2 Rings,,Schiano coached in Big East 11 years has Zero Rings
I understand your criticism of the program Greg built. He took over the worst program in the country and managed to attract 45,000 plus in the stadium every week, loaded the field with NFL level talent, 7 bowl games, put us in position to play games with BCS births on the line. and single handedly changed the National image of RU football.
He is 100% responsible for the B1G offering us a place in the conference to take advantage of the eyes and TV’s in the metro area.
But of course you being a Rutgers fan, you’re so used to excellence on the field, conference championships and New Years Day bowls...I understand your sharp criticism
