Indiana is last team in according to Lunardi

Pike has to stop schedule these horrifc schools....there are people hired at certain schools to actually figure out rpi...well now NET schedules. RU is simply going to have to challenge themselves and win..if RU wins no OOC games and goes 10-10 in the Big 10 next year for a 18-12 record its going to hurt not having those OOC wins, conference only gets you so much, the selection committee specifically concentrates on OOC wins and in particular a road win out of conference of note

look no further than 4-10 Indiana this year, they are in the discussion because of who they played and who they beat..ditto for Nebraska

I don’t disagree ...we do need to watch what we are doing and not cost ourselves a ncaa bid by “sloppy cupcake scheduling”

Just realize it’s not exact science either ...and there are also economic factors at play as well

Romeo misses the 2nd.....Edwards misses and Harns taps it in.....Purdue up 2 with 3.1....hmm lets see how they do this

we are in the Big 10, not the A10, if we are worried about money for games, lets drop down

We are -18,000,000 per year. We are paying debt for the stadium. Going to lose a ton of season ticket holders for football. The state of NJ is a mess.

Every 100k matters

we have to pay teams to come in right

i dont care what we are in the hole, our brilliant AD has to pay off a gymnastic coach because he botched her firing...its just money, our football program will bleed it by bringing back a failure of a coach while season tix drop

act like you are big time or drop down

Not sure about the math regarding paying opponent. Yes for football, no idea about football.

I am not sure how dire the financial situation is. If Hobbs one day is told the athletic department needs to be self sufficient he will have to set parameters. If budget needs to be balanced it needs to be balanced.

Football drives the bus. With the cost of the stadium it has to.

My scheduling 2 cents. We play 10 OOC every year. SHU and ACC challenge games. I think we should play SJU every year. That leaves 7 games. I like playing locals every year (Princeton, FDU, Monmouth). That leaves 4. Try to get into a tournament every year and if you don't try to schedule one tough opponent and 3 mid majors or power 5 middle of road.

Example:

FDU
@Princeton
SJU
@St. Joe's (PA)
Clemson (ACC challenge)
@UCF
SHU
Monmouth
@South Carolina
Davidson

I would take that schedule next year.
7-3 OOC
10-10 B1G
2 B1G tournament wins
19-14 overall.
On the bubble.

wrong...its the NET ranking that the NCAA selection committee is using ...our SOS overall is 91 and our non conference sos is 325. Not sure why everyone is so fascinated with KenPom

that is why Indiana and Nebraska are right there...do you notice why RU is lagging behind Illinois and PSU and Northwestern in all the ratings..its because of SOS and even in Ken Pom it is 287

scheduling counts....ask Nebraska..ask Penn State last year

Our SOS is #75. With our remaining schedule we should easily finish in the top 50. Our SOS, if our resume were such to put us in consideration for a bid, would not hold us back.

The B1G is the only conference that plays 20 conference games (versus 18 for the other power conferences). That is two additional high major games which equates/will equate to a stronger SOS when all the games are in. Watch.

our predicted SOS will be 78, our predicted non conference sos will be 290

this year that trash sos would most certainly hold us back...did you not see what happened to Nebraska and Penn State last year...they had nothing to point to on their OOC schedule, yes the Big 10 was down but you cannot guarantee is going to be top 2 every year. If either team had an impressive sos or wins OOC they would have danced.

when the non conference season is over that locks in where the conference will stand in rankings.. No movement after that because all the game are against schools within the conference

The Big 10 did a wonderful job this year in winning OOC games and scheduling better which they didnt in other years. RU has to start doing their part. There is a reason that RU is 14th in the Big 10 in the NET rankings.

With two more league games OOS should not matter. SHU already a decent game. Said it before rather lose to Princeton than Fordham and playing teams with different tempo will help you in long run.

A 8000 seat arena isn't going to generate a lot of income when free tickets are given to groups and students.Yes ,its going to take years to pay off the debt and fund raising must be kept at a very high level.

Rutgers SOS now 63. With three top 60 NET games remaining, two on the road. Our SOS finishes in the top 50 and quite possibly top 40.

our predicted rpi is 74 according to Nolan's site

the 288 non conference rpi is what is holding us back in the overall NET rankings.

If we had beaten Iowa, NW and @Fordham (all possible) we'd be 16-11/8-9 with a NET ranking around 50 and an SOS of 63. The only thing holding us back is we haven't won enough games. Our SOS (bolstered by the fact we play 20 league games v 18 for all other major conferences) is fine.

Except PSU, Illinois NW have worse records and way better NET..as does Nebby and Indiana who around RUs record. Non conference sos matters...288 hurts
