Duggan article today says a simple assault arrest can be made for putting someone in fear of imminent bodily injury through physical menace. In other words. Just being threatened.

Well this seems like it would be the best case situation for all involved. Could see how setting as simple as a verbal threat could be interpreted as a physical menace coming from a large athletic person. Hope this turns out to be the case.

Yay. Duggan managed to Google the NJ statute on assault. He gets a cookie.

Except it's not what happened. It it was what happened, the RUPD wouldn't have arrested him, locked him up and called a judge to set bail. They would have issued a summons for Disorderly Conduct on the spot and gone back to their ATV patrols.

Not true...you're saying the Rutgers police are real police ???...the Rutgers police officers who refused to stop the crowd for the nightingale service drivers after the game... laughing , joking, horse playing...yes real police officers ...even the drivers were amazed at their attitude ...these clowns aren't police officers ...they would be working for a city ,township or state police if they were qualified...If they actually were competent Caroo would have never made to this purported brawl.

Here's a link to the complaint which states he picked her up and "slammed" her on the concrete. I would imagine this is the victims version of the altercation.

Okay, so we've learned 2 things here. First, you never actually went to Rutgers. Second, you're an idiot. RUPD is 100% a real police force. They are trained by the NJSP. They aren't "campus cops". They are a fully accredited law enforcement agency, the equivalent of any other law enforcement agency at the municipal level.

Nice job showing everyone how stupid you are, though. Well done.

and in that article, another arrest (another player that had been on the team had been arrested. Former defensive tackle Jamil C. Pollard was arrested on Monday and charged, along with former fullback Lloyd M. Terry, with robbery, conspiracy and burglary.)
Carroo might have been trying to stop a fight by putting that ex girlfriend (?) on the concrete, but reading "slammed a woman with whom he had been romantically involved into the concrete" makes it look like no matter the reason he did it, Carroo deserved to be arrested for what he done.
What Carroo was charged with , like RU4Real said, seems like a gift and he might have deserved a aggravated assault charge because of the woman he put on concrete being injured

Injuries don't add up to slamming on ground, shoving out ow way and momentum throwing you off balance would give palm injuries, hip butt maybe head

Article on NJ.com saying he did indeed slam a girl on the ground. Could be missing some details but Doesn't look too good...

There are two sides to every story. . . .

Here is the quote:

He is accused of “picking her up and slamming her down on a concrete surface, injuring her left hip, both palms, left elbow and left side of the head,” according to the complaint.

So, this is the actually complaint that was filed. Are you saying that the reporter is fabricating what is in the complaint or that the victim is fabricating that her hip, hands, elbow and head were injured by Caroo? Which is it? Or are you just hoping that it is one?

If this version were true the charge would not be simple assault. If a 6 1", 215 pound muscle bound player picks up a girl and slams her to the concrete you are talking serious injury.....Woman's scorn ?

Yes, it is likely that she quickly faked her injuries in the aftermath of the incident to screw Caroo and RU football over.

I would say, most unfortunately, that's a very difficult assessment to make without knowing the extent of the injuries.

I have nothing against the Rutgers Police Department, but why is there one at all. Couldn't the university save a bunch of money by having Piscataway and New Brunswick departments take care of things OR does Rutgers have to have one because some of the students are under the age of 18 ?

I believe the injuries are real. I just don't think he slammed her. He would have done way more damage at that size. He's a big guy nonetheless, so laying your hands on anyone half of your size is never good.

The State Police hasn't run a municipal class in 20 years. RUPD officers are trained at whatever available county academy at the time of recruits hire. They are fully sworn officers like any other municipal/county law enforcement officer.

Because at any time there are maybe 40,000 plus people on campus. That's larger than the majority of towns in NJ, ranking around 50th out of 565 municipalities in the state.

I believe a person can say whatever they want in a complaint. That does not make it true. it could be true...time will tell. Hip, hands elbows and head....that's a lot of Injuries. I wonder if she called her civil attorney yet.

You want local cops responding every time there is a call on a 40,000 person (plus faculty, administrators and staff) campus?

They would never leave...which is sorta the reason why there is a dedicated police force.

Montclair State has one too. I would imagine every state university/college has one. MSU has dedicated EMS too. If the situation warrants or overwhelms them, they usually call in Clifton.

So, you're calling him an idiot? Me thinks you're being too polite.

You'd call your civil attorney too, if the person who slammed you to the ground was 6 months from signing a contract that will approach 7 figures with a few hundred grand in guaranteed money.

Equating the RUPD with some county college campus cop force is just asinine. Like I said, it's proof positive that he never attended Rutgers.

These guys are real cops. I know a bunch of them.

I'm pretty sure that majority of colleges and universities in the US have their own police department. NJIT and Rutgers Newark do as well.

Do you think that in light of the $hit that is going on, even the RUPD is being overly cautious in regards to not letting anything slide?

Clearly this person made contact with the ground. “... injuring her left hip, both palms, left elbow and left side of the head,”. But these injuries could have happened prior to Carroo actually getting there or be the result of a shove from Carroo. If it is the result of a shove from breaking up a fight, he is getting a raw deal.

Another question is how do you get charged with domestic violence against someone you are not currently in a relationship with?

Your last question is sorta the central premise of the fight between "the two females"...try and keep up if you want the email with the secret decoder ring in it. lol

I hope sometime soon we get the real details.....

According to some here this may not END UP being "simple assault." Long way to go here, apparently.

(Apparently) he most definitely WAS involved with the young lady.

RUPD officers are trained in municipal academies just like any other town/city in NJ. The NJSP hasn't had a municipal class in decades. RUPD is served by many outstanding officers and offers many in service trainings that are attended by departments from across the state. One of the premier active shooter instruction courses in the state. Very respected amongst their peers. I've interacted with countless members of that department who were very polite, courteous and squared away.

Unfortunately, without video, it's all he said she said. It becomes a battle of witnesses.

Exactly - and thanks for the correction on the training. I didn't know NJSP wasn't doing muni training anymore, because all of my peers are... ya know... older than that. :)

This has been addressed several times.

Occasionally I am required to perform work related/husband/fatherly duties and have to put the phone down. Besides the ring, I also dont get the double secret communiques yet. :(
I read that he was linked to both women. Does that mean 'linked' last night or 3 weeks ago? I would assume closer to a last night scenario than a 3 weeks ago scenario. :pimp: (this is the pimp emoji, right?).

exactly. Anybody who has seen complaints has also seen how outrageous they can be. What is the definition of injured? A scrape, a bruise, a splinter, or broken bone. I don't know but hopefully somebody documented it with pictures and/or an exam. Otherwise ...
