I've lost all faith in Pike

Haven’t lost all faith in him but he certainly isn’t the savior some people think. He’s a very average coach so it’s all about recruiting. He needs to pick it up big time....he’s not at all like Ash...no one is.
I really want to agree he’s not as bad as Ash. But it’s starting to make you wonder just a little bit.

It's always been all about recruiting. This team is weak in many areas...especially putting the ball in the basket.
But Johnson, Mathis, Harper, McConnell have potential. Mulcahy looks good. Geo is only a sophomore,
Now can we gets someone who can hit a 3 ?

It felt like it was 5v4...for the last 6 minutes of the game. NW coach came out of the timeouts with the same play.

I used to think he was like Ash, but he's not. Ash took something that was broken and made sure it's irrevocably damaged without hope for salvage. Even though he's not the answer, Pikiell is just your average Rutgers failure. After the Rice and Jordan disasters, Pike'll improve the team enough that we can consistently go 0.500 when he's done. Just give him another 2-3 years and we'll get back to 15 wins.

I don’t blame pike at all for giving Issa a chance. But now he’s officially proven he cannot do it. No reason to put him back on the floor.

There are some coaches who actually outcoach others. He’s not one of them.

Success or failure as a college head coach largely depends on recruiting where Rutgers is far behind league rivals. The absence of shooters/scorers has been a ongoing nightmare even before Pikiell became head coach. The inability to utilize the 3 point shot as a key part of the offense puts Rutgers at a decided disadvantage against B1G teams and is the main reason the team has great difficulty even scoring 65 points .

The thing is our classes aren't 14/14 in the three Ten. We're in the 8-14 range, no great shakes I know, but we've actually had to underperform our already-not-great recruiting ranking to continually finish last.

Gary Waters knew how to get 3 pt shooters.

Pike is making moves. Unfortunately the players aren't responding. I just wish he got a little more into them vs. The Mr nice guy play. Its not working,

I would like an occasional call by the refs but they almost overcame it and then allowed the one shooter under 4 minues wide open looks...i think the level of disgust is justified for playing Thiam and not seeing the effort required to defend.

I still LIKE PIKE.

Its 3-point shooting.. its better this year than last.. and it will be better next year. I think he knows what he's doing.

No, not his fault in my opinion. With the chance to take the lead some players came down the floor and threw up bad shots. They'll learn...
I still think he'll be OK, but throwing up bad shots in key situations is on him. We didn't get great shots tonight, and half of our points were the result of forced shots. I've said this before - the offense is to predictable and as a result not difficult to defend. Teams with less talent need to run something more structured to compensate for lesser talent.

I honestly thought Issa was going to take a nice jump forward this year. Not having production from him and Kiss has killed this team.

Pike really needs to bring in a juco shooter like Jerome Coleman. A shooter like that can make a tremendous difference for a team.

AGREE. Not being facetious, but a problem is that we dont have a gunslinger. All our shooters have “consciences.”

As he continues to play Issa Thiam 20+ minutes

Inexcusable loss by the team, we will be lucky if we can get another win in conference play.
I agree that it's time to sit Thiam. He should only be getting maybe 10 minutes per game. But that's not why we lost. We lost this game at the charity stripe and not having ANYONE knock down threes throughout the second half when the game was on the line. I think Pike needs to play McConnell more and have him bring up the ball because IMO, it's ruining Geo's ability to score. The kid is dead tired and has no lift in his legs, leaving many of his shots short.

I know it's frustrating as hell to watch this team come up short again, but Pike IS a good coach. He doesn't have enough credible players who can shoot to get us over the hump just yet.

The jury is still out as to whether Pike is a good coach. He seems like an amiable fellow, a good guy.

But what has he shown in three years to justify a belief that he knows how to coach? Today it was obvious that the NW coach outcoached Mr. Pike.

Where is the evidence of good coaching?

Why can't it be a freshman shooter. People also conveniently forget Coleman was a disaster in his 2nd year.

McConnel didn't have a great game bringing the ball up either. Mulcahy and Young will help next year, but I'm not convinced these two alone will cure Geo's scoring woes. His shot has been off early in the games too.

Bringing up bad memories, that Yale game was sadly the beginning of the end for Coleman. Total 180.

It’s been awhile since Quincy Douby played for RU. This team needs shooters.

Why does geo always lead the team in shots every game? He is a terrible shooter game after game.
