I've lost all faith in Pike

Pike probably read my thread. No Issa in the game down the stretch like the Northwestern game. Thanks for listening PIKE!!

I honestly thought Issa was going to take a nice jump forward this year. Not having production from him and Kiss has killed this team.

Pike really needs to bring in a juco shooter like Jerome Coleman. A shooter like that can make a tremendous difference for a team.

Good post. A serious bomber is what we need most. Pike has recruited many other nice pieces. Mathis is really coming on, Johnson is going to be very good (and played his best game tonight), Harper has shown flashes, and McConnell is at least decent. Kiss has struggled, as has Issa, but losing EO really hurt.

I think Pike is struggling, but because his players are struggling. He is the right guy, IMO, but we're just not there yet. However, with the guys coming in next year and Young on the floor, I think we really are going to be much better next year and then the following year - and then, hopefully, some really top players will see all that and want to join us and take us to the next level.

How are we all feeling now?

Nothing wrong bumping old posts . I went back into the thread to see what I posted . I said if pike doesn’t get us into the NIT (at the very least) by year 5 he should be canned . Well, now it looks like things are trending up and that will happen. He’s got to do it though .
I still stand by the post.

While I understand why it was bumped, this was such a ridiculous over-reaction of a thread from the inception that, for everyone's sake, it would have been better off just leaving it to wither on the vine and die.

This thread was so terrible the first time around I just sat it out. Never doubted Pike. I said when he leaves there's going to be a statue built to honor his legacy here and truly believe there will be.

I said he should be replaced if we’re not dancing by year 5. Others suggested 7 years. I’d be willing to wait it out to 7 years...possibly. But I want realization, not potential. Saying, “We would have been in the NCAA if only he hadn’t lost to ____ on a buzzer beater,” is not gonna cut it. I’ve been skeptical of Pike; I see nothing wrong with that. It’s not like I’m rooting against the guy. If he can get us in the next few years, I’m more than happy to admit I was wrong.

i love that this thread was brought back.

Shows how truly dumb individuals can be. all the part time coaches who coached their son or daughter in cyo basketball when they were 8 became experts and then screamed at their kid's high school coach because little johnny didnt touch the ball enough now want to pretend they can coach in the big 10.....

Only dumb individuals would criticize a coach 2 years after taking over the dumpster fire that was rutgers basketball. Only dumb people dont realize how terrible a job rutgers actually is. you are blinded by the scarlet. RUTGERS IS A TERRIBLE JOB. What Pikiell has done in 3 years is nothing short of a miracle. Pikiel may or may not get rutgers to the NCAA tournement but he is certainly the right guy at the right time for rutgers basketall.

Correction. Rutgers WAS a terrible job. Pike has changed that already

That thread is amazing. So many great takes worthy of dragging out years later - not that I ever would.

Similar to the famous post during Schiano's 3rd year when someone posted how he was destined for failure - right before going to 5 straight bowls.

No different than the posts shouting down any critics of Ash the first two years.

I find it amusing that many of the same people who have/had no faith in Pike, are the same one's who make the football board unreadable. Sure, you all can duck and cover for now, but I guarantee you will be out in full force the next time the basketball team takes a step backward or has a bad season. Its in your nature to piss and moan.

I was one of those guys. The thread was warranted in December. I was at the Columbia game and was about to call the season. Very happy to say that I was wrong.

I still stand by my post and the reason I made this thread during that time. Obviously things have changed. Pike was giving Issa major minutes and it was costing us games. I observed what was going on on the court during that time and made this post. Sure you can bring it up 2 months later and call me an idiot, but let's make an observation about the team after this post was made. Besides the Iowa game last weekend you never saw Thiam on the floor contributing.

You all have such great hindsight, I should find some old posts to bump.

In fairness to the OP he did say for playing Issa 20 minutes a night. The Rutgers turnaround pretty much coincides with Issa's reduced playing time. IMO Pike stuck by Issa longer than he really should have before cutting back his minutes. He gave him more than ample time to contribute and break out of his slump. Hopefully Issa's last game is going to carry over and give us some quality minutes off the bench and a couple threes tonight. If we can get that out of him the rest of the season it makes us that much more dangerous after getting zero from him for 2 months

Big props for coming back in and pretty much what you say I agree with. Pike, is the real deal, makes adjustments on the fly, something that's been lacking around here for a long time in both major sports!!!

I used the words “how are we all feeling”, yours was not the post that had me bump it. But to be clear We had also lost our number 1 player. Losing faith in the coach by quite a few here was a bit premature, hindsight or not.

Lots of bad takes in here. Then again, this board has also lost all faith in Geo, Caleb, Montez, and Ron this year...so yeah

Pikes a good coach. What people think about the program at this point in time is All about perspective.

There was a post after the first game... (can’t remember specifics) but in other words... all of our freshmen were busts or needed to redshirt (based on what they did that game). lol.
