If he was consistent, that's one thing. He just keeps dragging it out and getting more cringe as the game goes on. Just do it the same way and same length every time.
No they didn’t. The PSU guy decided to get rid of it.
Go into any other stadium and there are similar cheers or chants. Only at RU do we have faux rage.
He seems like a good enough guy. But we need a better in-stadium voice. To me, he screams small time.

Tell me again why we stopped certain chants. It’s absolutely the PSU guy pulling the strings.
That’s because ESPN doesn’t have a PSU guy running their game day operations censoring chants like we do.
OP, I was in the stadium today for the first time this season. The noise pollution coming from Joe was worse than the horn and music. The horn and music were unhelpful (lots of children wore ear protection) but not horrible like Joe.
There is no buildup, rhythm or anything with Nolan----just a total buzzkill. By the time he is done with his drawn out and tired routine, the QB is ready to snap the ball. The students and the fans have no opportunity to make noise. Compared to Nebraska crowd last week, where the crowd was deafening on nearly every Rutgers offensive down in the second half. That's because there is not a PSU asshat running the gameday operation.
Ridiculous kids have to wear ear protection. What doesn’t the school understand here? Stop the nonsense with all the screaming PA announcers and blaring music.
Before one of Wisconsin's many kick offs, a guy jumped around the end zone behind Dremel yelling into a microphone trying to motivate the student section for the kick off play. Why bother trying to fire up the crowd when the kick off will be a fair catch or touchback and no chance of a return, and the entire stadium knows it.
In addition, at 11:17 of the second quarter, a guy dressed up in a purple costume began dancing around the same end zone. At first I thought it was Barney or Grimace but wasn't sure so took a photo to ask my kids to help with the identification. Still no positive ID.
I understand US sports, especially football, have many stoppages of play and game experience bosses like to fill the dead time. Why not have the band play? They were super at halftime and before the game too - I saw them marching through the scarlet lot and again inside the stadium before the game started.
Where was the Scarlet Knight mascot today? I saw the horse but not Sir Henry.
That purple thing was purportedly the Grimace in honor of the Mets. It may have been Sir Henry underneath.
My kids saw the image and also say Grimace. He is making a comeback, they say.
You may not be aware that the Mets started to make a run when the Grimace showed up in the stands at Citi Field. Grimace is a legend now at Citi.
Saw that when I Googled Grimace. Don’t follow the Mets that closely.
Though, the Grimace thing was overdone and silly, but maybe it's just I got a lot of sand in my private parts today and grouchy. But that was a poorly conceived Grimace. Wrong shade of purple, wrong shape, wrong place.
It was embarrassing...the outfit didnt even fit...did they order it from Walmart

Game day ops have sucked for years. Overproduced, yet not coordinated at the same time, shit show.
Gameday ops were mixed yesterday. I'd grade it a B when I expected a C. Better than F- performance by the team.
I got a foot boot on Friday. Instead of walking from train station to stadium, I decided to take the gameday shuttle. I couldn't find it, no signage pointed to it, and no fans leaving the train knew anything about it, and anyway I have no idea where the stadium drop off point is.
So I took an Uber to the River Road stadium entrance. $11 and 12 minutes, no traffic on bridge and moderate on River Road. Not bad. Spent 30 minutes trying to access my $15 (including $8 in fees) StubHub ticket for 2nd row at goal line. Tech difficulties. So I call StubHub. The guy can't hear me because the music is already blasting out that end of the stadium 90 minutes before kickoff.
I struggled uphill to the Scarlet lot where I figured it would be quieter and I was told a ticket booth was open. When I get to Scarlet lot, the ticket booth is closed and when I try to call StubHub again, the band marches by and plays for 10 minutes. Forget StubHub.
Somebody told me the ticket booth at the main entrance on north of stadium is open. I limp there and am pleased to see it is open and lines are short. When I go to booth and asked for cheapest seat, women points up. Sign says something like, ''football letterwinner tickets only." She won't sell me a ticket. When I get to the correct window and ask for cheapest ticket, I thought I heard $16 but it is actually $60. WTF?
I buy it and now am disgruntled. 60 minutes before kickoff and no long lines anywhere. The ADA entrance had no line at all so I struggle to it, point to my boot, and I'm through in seconds. I figure I can use by StubHub confirmation details to get to my 2nd row seat. Then I thought, why struggle down 40 rows of steps to sit at the goal line when I can sit in a handicapped seat near the 50? Got comfortable seat at 45, rested boot leg on rail, and stayed there the whole game. Had to get my money's worth after buying a 2nd ticket at 4x market price.

- Band
- Crowd bigger than feared. Not the 50,000 reported but in low 40s
- Good seat
- Smooth bus ride to College Ave
- Greg's clock management. Game duration of 3:18 has to be the shortest B1G game of Greg's career. He didn't call needless time outs at the end and got the game over asap
- My hat. I wore a custom made scarlet baseball cap with the black 17Q66 logo on it. Fan on train said it was best Rutgers swag he ever saw. At stadium, fan asked me if my hat was licensed. When I told him I don't know or care he said my hat was illegal and I shouldn't wear it on campus.
Negatives;
- 42-7
- Music, PA announcer, horn
- Fans arriving in 1st and leaving in 3rd, this obstructed my view those quarters
- Unclear bus routes
Questions for experts;
- Fancy recruiting pavilion was empty on a day with lots of recruits. What is the point of this space?
- Bus back to College Ave stops at student center. Why not run it all the way down College Ave to the Yard and train station?
- Does athletic department care what ordinary fans want at a game? The bag line madness has improved - nice change. Still, all the department needs to do is read TKR to get a consensus of fans' views. I don't recall any posters stating they'd love to see Grimace jumping in the end zone, but most posters want more band and spirit teams and less PA announcer and horn, and that seems easy to implement.
Attendance is awful also bc of services. A friend wasn't allowed in bc he brought a fanny pack that was "too big." My ADA seat wasn't arranged according to promises.
Damm shame Rutgers are worse than the Mets as far as in stadium game experience. And at least the Mets improved on some of their crap but Rutgers added to their train horn and 125 dB, brain dizzying sound with their horrible and obnoxious PA announcer who don’t even give out info anymore.

After the game I had some time to kill before the train. So I popped into Scarlet Fever, the Somerset St. shop that sells Rutgers apparel.
Very busy and the same guy who has run it for decades was stacking $$ at the register. I found a knowledgeable staffer - not a student - showed her my hat and asked if they sold apparel with this logo. She said no, Rutgers licensing office won't let them use it and it can only be used for flags.
I asked if my Rutgers hat was illegal and guy at register turned around and said he won't call the authorities.
I kind of hear what you are saying, but he is a NY TV personality and he does the same thing for the NY Jets. It's not like they got Fred from the grocery store to announce at the stadium.
Fred might be more receptive to what works with the crowd.
