So now that Pat has resigned who are the top prospects to lead Rutgers Athletic Department?
My vote would be for Tim Pernetti to return but he is now head of the AAC and I think it would be considered a step down to go from head of a conference to a middle Big Ten program. Let’s start circulating some names.

Boo Corrigan - high level football guy

I don't follow executives but Boo worked a miracle at Army - coming from ND sports (spesh marketing) helped.
He just re-upped with NC State for like a mil a year (Kirk money).
I'm sure its hard to get people with jobs and the timing is so bad now.
I suppose an interim was mentioned somewhere

"The Notre Dame graduate got his first full-time posting as an athletic director at Army in 2011. During his time at West Point, the Black Knights won three consecutive bowl games for the first time in program history. Meanwhile, Army earned the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy in back-to-back years — also for the first time in program history.

Corrigan helped establish an era of exceptionalism, receiving the “Athletic Director of the Year” award in 2017."

**** Boo
Literally, that prick can kiss my ass

Tim is commissioner of the AAC and he might feel that's a better situation then going to the school that fired him, even if that school is his Alma Mater
edit: brought to my attention Tim resigned ( I feel he was pressured to. But that makes no difference , he did resign)

Sarah Baumgartner would be a good choice and probably is ready to step up from her Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director for Sports Administration position at Texas since 2021'

Her five years as deputy director of athletics at Rutgers before going to Texas will help her make the jump from being a #2 to a #1 more easily

Would love to get Tim back. Not sure the Board would approve that though since he was fired here?

As far as being a step down, I don’t think so. The AAC is a time bomb of irrelevance waiting to happen. He’d have an opportunity to do big things at RU.

I’d love to have Pernetti .. I think his energy and passion would thrive with the now better situation we’re in.

I think Sarah is also a great choice and would hit the ground running.

Open to outsiders as well but it would have to be someone who has such an outstanding track record at an established big time school in a power 3 conference. This job is a top job in ncaa now. Rutgers is in a great spot for the next person

Why the love for Pernetti? He made some awful coaching hires. Sarah Baumgartner 100%, even Kate Sweeney would be happy its a woman
How dare you mention Kate Sweeney... armed guard should stand outside Hollowaly's and teh search committee's doors to keep her away.

But I'd be happy to have Pernetti.. he got screwed. The budget and Barchi prevented him from hiring anyone good. That has changed. Pernetti and Schiano can finish what they, and Bob Mulcahy began.. together.

What about the Boston College AD. He was at the U before BC.

Schiano is here for life, my concern is Steve Pikiell. Why is there a clause in his contract that cuts his buyout in half if Hobbs is not here? The new AD better get along with Pikes. Thank God Hurley came back to UCONN.

Pernetti if the stars could ever align…. Jersey being Jersey taking care of unfinished business. A long shot. Baumgartner is intriguing.

Richie said in his podcast that Baumgartner might not be interested in coming back to Rutgers, she is currently #2 at Texas and is going to wait until she is AD there. Maybe Pisarri goes from interim to full time AD, hes a NJ/Rutgers guy and Schiano spoke highly of him at the press conference today.

Do Pernetti and Sarah fit the same requirements as you list for an "outsider" though?

My first reaction to candidates is the same as I usually have for coaches - nobody formerly associated with Rutgers.
Far too often people seem to give elevated status to "used to be here".

Just get the best candidate possible.
At best, "user to be here" could be a tiebreaker. But shouldn't be a tangible factor.

I actually agree with this. Just get the best person. There is a caveat though and the caveat is they have to know how NJ politics work. That is partly why Mulcahy, Pernetti, and Hobbs were able to be so effective. They knew who the power players are in Trenton. Same for Schiano. You have to have Trenton behind you or it’s going to be a bad time for the AD.

Pernetti wasn’t fired . He resigned. His eye for coaches was terribile. With that said, if he was hired here again I think we could do worse. It’s not a terrible idea

Baumgartber should be the choice and make an aggressive play . Home run hire

If he does a decent job for six months, elevate Pisarri (take the interim off the title) and move Tucker into his old role.

Seems like Sarah B is the obvious choice. Experience at Missouri, RU, and Texas. Here is her impressive Bio from Texas:

In her role, Baumgartner provides supervision of head coaches, directors of operations and program administrators for all 20 sports. She is the liaison to all areas within the athletics department that interact and support sports programs and is responsible for monitoring student-athlete recruitment, experience, academic progress and welfare. She also is responsible for assisting each sports program with development and monitoring of budgets and approval of expenses.

In addition, she oversees equipment operations and serves as liaison to Nike. She is a member of the Vice President/Athletics Director's senior management team and assists with the department-wide strategic planning efforts.

Baumgartner previously served five years as deputy director of athletics at Rutgers University (2016-21), providing oversight of all revenue-generating and external departments while also working with Rutgers’ sports health, student-athlete services and human resources. She was involved in budgeting, capital projects/master planning, contract negotiations, donor solicitation strategy and stewardship. Baumgartner helped RU secure a landmark $10.5m naming rights partnership with SHI for the Rutgers football stadium.

She began her time at Rutgers in 2013 as senior associate athletics director/chief development officer, spearheading the department's development arm (R Fund) and launching the "R Big Ten Build" campaign, which raised more than $115m. She also was responsible for raising funds for several major capital improvements. The contributions to the campaign included the four largest gifts in Rutgers Athletics history, combining to exceed $26m, and was buoyed by the largest gift in program history – a $15m donation pledged by Gary and Barbara Rodkin to fund the Academic Success Center on RU’s Busch Campus. Other funded projects were the RWJBarnabas Health Athletic Performance Center, home for RU men’s and women’s basketball, gymnastics and wrestling programs, the Marco Battaglia Practice Complex, the Fred Hill Baseball/Softball Training Complex, the Harriett and Bob Druskin Strength and Conditioning Center, the Ron and Joanna Garutti Strength and Conditioning Center and The Brown Family Football Locker Room.

Prior to Rutgers, Baumgartner spent seven years with Missouri Athletics as associate athletics director for development and men’s basketball sport administrator. The Tigers enjoyed unparalleled success during her tenure, both athletically and in donor growth.

At Missouri, Baumgartner supervised a 15-member staff that raised $84m toward Mizzou's “Going for Gold” campaign. The athletics annual fund (Tiger Scholarship Fund) increased donor membership by 60 percent and grew annual fund gifts by 40 percent during that time. She successfully developed and executed the fundraising plan to capitalize on Missouri's transition from the Big 12 Conference to the SEC, which saw record highs for donor membership and dollars raised at Mizzou.

Baumgartner is a member of the Women Leaders in College Sports board of directors and assists the WLCS Foundation Fund Committee to develop more resources.

She served as president of the National Association of Athletics Development Directors (NAADD) in 2019-20. NAADD is an organization that enhances the athletics development and fundraising profession by providing educational, ethical and networking support.

Additionally, she was a member of the NCAA Division I Women's Softball Committee from 2016-19.

A native of Wheaton, Ill., and a four-year letterwinner in softball at The University of Illinois, Baumgartner was an All-Big Ten Tournament and a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree. In 2004, she received a bachelor’s in business administration before earning her master's degree in sports administration from Illinois in 2005.

You're right about Tim resigning , but in my opinion ,it was a forced resignation.
That said, forced or not he resigned and wasn't fired
Rutgers AD Tim Pernetti Resigns Amid Player Abuse Scandal - CBS New York

I think Tim would make a great candidate, but the past could make accepting him back as AD hard for some and might bring negative coverage.
Best to move on from Tim and maybe ask his advice on who he thinks should be interviewed for the job.
