Let's go METS 2016 thread ......Just get in and anything can happen!

And then there's Terry Collins. The Mets went to the World Series despite him last year. This year, even with all the injuries, I may be able to dig up 3, 4 games where his WTF decisions may have cost the Mets wins and at the very least the home WC spot.

Rene Rivera is the DH tonight. Nothing left to say.
I thought the past 2 yrs the mets had potential studs as catchers, boy was I wrong. Out starter goes to dl monthly and plaweki has dropped, although I still have hope for him. Mgmt must not think same as they almost traded for one a week ago.

Nimmo sits on bench as Bruce is thrown out by inches ???? Never won anything as a coach until last year. Familia didn't blow a save from July 20th until game 1. Cespedes had one of the best 4 week runs in franchise history. Both would be the same if I were the manager . Why in the world didn't you pinch run for Bruce ?? ..... Fire Terry Fire Terry

When you play like this mets team does there is NO SUCH THING as an easy schedule.

Actually, the schedule-maker has again been kind to the mets, as they start the first of three straight series vs. the awful Padres and Diamondbacks. Followed by a chitload of games vs. the sorryass Phillies and Braves. The way the mets are playing though...it shouldn't matter
Wait 'til next year.

Andy, while true, this team has still been in position to win so many games that they just did not finish off with the W. Injury excuses aside, this is not a winning team. Terry Collins shouldve been fired years ago. Old adage, ya can't fire the whole team so you fire the coach (manager). Sandy has actually put together a really solid team, with the only real definiciency you u could point to being the defense. A lot of regression, and obviously injuries from the roster across the board. Was supposed to have been a 90+ win team. Now they'll be lucky to win 80.

Yep, the Mets suck.
What team would be good missing these players from their lineup 1b, SS, 3b, LF, and the replacement 3b and their #1 starter?

Please come up with some other lame-ass excuse.
The only guy anything more than mediocre on your list is Cespedes...and he's only on the 15-day DL.
And BTW, did you guys put up a banner yet with Conforto's number on it next to Piazza's and Seaver's ?

Cabrera is much better than Matt Reynolds so KBEE statement is silly. How does terry keep pitching to Goldsmith with a base open?

KBEE made a silly statement?? Noooo that never happens!

Hey I was wrong about the Mets, they're god awful and in typical Mets fashion everything that can go wrong, has gone and will go wrong lol. But I'm a man and I can admit it, come back here and post that i was wrong. Losers/trolls/asshats like Kbee would never ever admit they're wrong.

Best word for the Mets this year-hapless.
Terry happened to them. Injuries happened to them.
Lost due to injuries: Wright, Cabrera, Duda, Cespedes, Harvey, Wheeler.
Just lost: Granderson, Conforto, d'Arnaud, Batting with RISP.
When was the last time d'Arnaud threw out someone stealing second? And nice bunt last night.
Granderson's strikeouts are predictable.
Not real impressed with Jay Bruce.
More painful to watch than RU football last season.

On the bright side, Loney was a good pickup. The Rivera kid who played third last night had a nice debut.

Things could always be worse... last year's trade for Carlos Gomez (who was just DFA'd by Houston) could have gone through.

Mets have ‘open mind’ on Carlos Gomez, year after trade drama

When I was in San Diego last Spring for a convention, I ran into a gentleman who was from Queens but lived in San Diego for a lot of years. He was highly critical of Sandy Alderson as GM. I am starting to wonder about Alderson.

Defense the only deficiency? I disagree on Alderson putting together a good, balanced team. Offensively they're basically a one trick pony. How many games are there where the only runs scored come via home runs? Last night was just the latest. It seems almost impossible for them to score otherwise. No team speed whatsoever. No high average guys or high OBP players. No good situational hitters. Pathetic.

But you just said the same thing about the Yankees you contradicting doof.

"If we still had Chapman, Miller, and Beltran we'd have a better record than the mets."

Terry Collins and Kevin Long should've been fired for at least 2 years ago. As much as I enjoyed the hell out of last season, this year proved that 2015 was a fluke and the Mets won despite both on the bench.

The Mets can have Vince Coleman, Lou Brock, Rickey Henderson, Tim Raines, Ty Cobb can be batting 1-5 and they still wont be given the green light to steal 10 bases combined under TC. Nor will there be any hit and run, or drag bunt single situations under TC. Hell, one of them wouldve been benched for Granderson and his 228 avg.

Plus they still have Kevin Long as their hitting coach, who seems that he cant get his hitters to stop swining at that breaking pitch in the dirt for thrid strike... or be able to make proper contact to bring home those RISP instead of popping up trying to hit grand slams all the time.

You no read so good, eh ?
My comment was in regards to the Yanks basically giving up on the season, trading three of their best players for prospects, and attempting to rebuild for the future....yet STILL having the exact same record as the mets. Yet mets fans think they're in a pennant race.
They look at their remaining schedule and think they see "easy teams" to beat and that they'll make some kinda playoff push...you know...when all of their "stars" get back. Little do they know that the teams left on their schedule are most likely counting the mets as one of THEIR "easy teams".to beat.
Good times.

Hindsight is 20/20.
Bottom line is that he was probably hurt all year and never performed like a No. 1 starter, so you're not really missing one. Now if DeGrom or Syndergaard went down, that would be another story. Any time you lose one of the top 5 it sucks, because it's a bunch of innings out the door.

Hey I was wrong about the Mets, they're god awful.......

I'd like to say "Congratulations. What took you so long to see what was always there....or not there ?" But I'm convinced that if the mets happen to win today vs. Arizona and beat up on big bad San Diego and then go out to Arizona and beat them you'd be catching pennant fever all over again. It's what mets fans do. Ya gotta believe.
Amazin'.

Why do you bother with them? They are asshats/d-nozzles personified. Mets are left for dead, and d-bag Yankees fans gladly come over to dance on the grave, all the while they have been long dead this season. Difference between a team that has sold all of its pieces versus a team that has been snakebitten by injuries and lost two 3B, 1B, SS and LF in their lineup. Not one fan has been talking about dreaming of a pennant, but the dead rat avatar guy (wtf is that ugly thing?) loves coming here to troll because his team sold out to live in the bottom of the barrel. Woohoo. Good times for the d-bags.

The futility of this team is on full display. The D-backs have the worst pitching in the National League, and the current lineup is making their pitchers look like Cy Young Award candidates. Pathetic.
