Let's go METS 2016 thread ......Just get in and anything can happen!

In fairness, half of the lineup is injured

However, this team is absolute garbage right now. Teams steal against the Mets like it's Little League. d'Arnaud is a bust. Granderson is completely done and throws like a 12 year old. They refuse to add contact hitters. They no longer work counts and just swing for the fences, yet Long, the hitting coach, remains. Kids who show some fire, like Nimmo, are sent down in favor of D'Aza, etc.

Collins is lost and he has lost the team. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a change after the D-back sweep.

Bring on the change.

Rock bottom is Jonathan Niese, who the Pirates were dying to unload, comes in long relief for Thor.

Bruce was a stupid addition. A low average streaky power hitter, not what the Mets needed. After the Lucroy deal fell apart, this was a panic move.

Couldn't agree more. They already have weak fielding outfielders who hit home runs and strike out a lot. They could have had Lucroy if they were willing to part with Wheeler, who is probably a 3 or 4 in the rotation, IF he gets healthy. With Lucroy, you would have had a contact hitter, and teams wouldn't have been running wild.

However, looking at this mess now, it probably would have been better to do nothing.

Mets are done. But the Wilpons will NEVER fire TC since hes part of their plan. Last season delayed the inevitable that hes an asshat who cant manage on MLB THE SHOW.

The Mets couldve had Lucroy but didnt want to part with Dilson Herrera in a package. But yet... hes good enough for Jay Bruce, smh.

I'd like to say "Congratulations. What took you so long to see what was always there....or not there ?" But I'm convinced that if the mets happen to win today vs. Arizona and beat up on big bad San Diego and then go out to Arizona and beat them you'd be catching pennant fever all over again. It's what mets fans do. Ya gotta believe.
Amazin'.

Well, THAT ship has sailed. Someone help me out here: which New York team has given up on the season and started the rebuilding process and which one is getting ready for a final kick to make the playoffs ? And which one has the better record this season ? And which is the tougher league ? And which is the toughest division ?
mets fans are so funny.

Why do you insist on babbling about the tougher league? There's virtually no difference. Yes I know in interleague play the AL tends to do better but the DH is an advantage. AL teams use real hitters, NL teams use backups.

Please come up with some other lame-ass excuse.
The only guy anything more than mediocre on your list is Cespedes...and he's only on the 15-day DL.
And BTW, did you guys put up a banner yet with Conforto's number on it next to Piazza's and Seaver's ?
David Wright is mediocre? Lucas Duda has had an .830 OPS each of the last 2 years, that's not mediocre anymore. GTF out of here with your nonsense.

Duda was a huge loss. He's always good for a couple of hot streaks each year. It's hard to replace 26 and 90. Wright, I'm not sure. I can't believe the Mets really thought they were going to get through an entire season with him.

Why the hell are Mets fans "so funny"? Because we had hopes for our team coming off a World Series appearance and had expectations for this year to be good? I guess we should just all stop being mets fans now since they had a bad season!.... It hasn't happened for the Mets this year for whatever reason, they ended up shtting the bed and we all UNDERSTAND that already without you spewing your garbage. You're a typical Yankee fan a hole man, the worst type of fan in sports. Worse than cowboys fans, patriots fans- name any fan base, a Yankee fan like you is the worst. shut the hell up already!!

Kbee I'm a hardcore mets fan but man it's just a game. Why do u insist on throwing all these little jabs over and over and over regurgitating the same mindless drivel, like it has any meaning. ITS JUST A GAME! We get it, you think the mets are a worthless POS team, you'll never give them any credit, and you hate them. They're JV and the Yankees are varsity- OMFG already. No one really cares all that much I don't think any of us are losing sleep over the mets! stop taking up so much damn space in a mets thread!!!

I dont understand why I don't just block u from my life forever!!! But you're like a train wreck that you can't turn away from. You just keep on watching(reading)!!! Lord knows you wouldn't be popping off like this if you werent hiding behind your keyboard. Or maybe you would cause you're a douche bag...

Losers have a need to feel better about themselves, and they do so by looking down their pitiful noses at other people and casting stones at them. Rather than looking inwardly and improving their own lot in life, they lash out at others that they perceive are beneath them. It's a sad existence and a form a deflection. Guessing you are ranting at the guy with the dead psychotic rat for an avatar. Put him on ignore already.

This guy conforto is starting to heat up again, looking like the conforto we all grew to expect. That's a big deal. A 1-8 order of reyes, granderson, Cespedes, bruce, walker, Conforto, Loney, darnaud can be pretty lethal...

Wow......talk about delusional.

Update: playoff contender 57-57
old, washed up rebuilder 58-56
mets fans are so funny. Just be thankful that you play in the NL East and not the AL East.

Have that guy and the guy whose girlfriend was stolen by Matt Harvey. Forum is much easier to read and more enjoyable. No time in life for a-holes like them.

Done and done. Both of those jerks are poof gone! Like magic haha. Was his gf actually stolen by Harvey?? Lmao

I still maintain Bruce was a good trade. He's a bat- the Mets can use anyone that is considered one of those. Best not compare his acquisition/production to someone like Cespedes. Not nearly the same hitting prowess. I mean yoanus has been otherworldly since he's been a NYM and is the exception not the rule.

Still think this guy Bruce will run into a few baseballs and hit them FAR before 2016 season is over and in 2017 too. As well as get some clutch hits. He will be around next season as Im sure the mets will pick up his option, another reason it's a good move. He's not a rental and didn't cost too much. Remains to be seen though. IMO Herrera wasn't anything special, the other guy Wotell they gave up might be the more valuable player in the end. Sucks they let Murphy go bc of Herrera, or at least used him as the excuse to let murph go...

Anyway, hopefully they envision Bruce and Cespedes hitting 3-4 in the lineup next season as well...must resign Cespdes!

PS can't wait to see Terry get fired!! Dumbass manager

The baseball world will be focused on the game in the Bronx tonight as AROD gets his send off.

As usual, a MLB game mere miles away in Flushing will be insignificant to most of the NY area baseball fans.

Ratings tonight will be low for the Mets with the Yanks and Giants playing at the same time.

Since, you enjoy making predictions. How many years do you think it will take for the Yankees to make it back to the playoffs?

Actually, I'm not one for predictions. Some things sometimes seem so obvious though, even I can't resist.
I will say though that if they refuse to upgrade their talent level through the free agent market like they did last offseason there's gonna be some problems competing with the big boys. However, if they decide to step out into the free agent market and bring in some talented players, they'll have a good shot at making the playoffs.

And for those of you who missed it, the mets lost another home game to another one of the weak sisters that seem to be popping up on their schedule far too frequently...slipping below .500. What do their playoff chances look like now ?

About as bad as the Yankees chances. Yes no doubt, this season has turned into something I didn't see coming, and I'll eat crow on all I said. That being said, the future can still be bright, and it starts with the GM and ownership. The Yankees have made some great moves to secure young talent, and also sit well looking into the future with owners not afraid to spend money. If the Mets don't realize this, the opportunity to win back the city and out draw the Yankees like in the 80's will be lost. There were other years sprinkled in there where the Mets drew more than the Yankees also, but it has been far and in between.

Let me also say mets 120. Mil payroll yanks 220 mill......... And mets still better. Mets are killed by injuries so the reason is there.
Why do you care about the payroll? If the Mets payroll was 200 million and they won the World Series would the payroll bother you?

That's not really an answer. I'm just wondering how long it will take for the nonJV bloated payroll NY baseball team to make it back to the playoffs? Listening to you and the other Yankee fans, the Yankees should be in the playoffs every year. So it shouldn't be hard to give me a number of years that it will take to just make it back to the playoffs. Unless, in your last response, you were saying next year you'd be back. However, it wasn't quite clear and I was hoping you'd be more specific.

I believe you said last year, that any season without a world's championship is a failed season. In addition to the earlier question, how many more years of failure do you expect for Yankees?

You enjoy patting yourself on the back, you should have no problem giving me definitive answers.

Boom - Varsity vs. JV still in effect!
Since Yankee fans strike me as weasels, especially how quick they are to denigrate another team, but rarely hold their team accountable. I'll ask you the same questions that I asked KBee earlier and maybe you'll actually have the stones to answer.

I'm so sorry that you didn't appreciate my answer. But it's the truth. I can't predict the future. Sure, once in a while something becomes obvious. But no one could ever speak confidently about next year's team...even if they somehow knew what the lineup for 2017 looked like.
I don't think the Yankees even know whether or not they're gonna hit the jackpot with the youngsters they're currently giving a chance or be forced to go out and lure a free agent or two or three....for big bucks, of course....to fill some of their more serious holes. But if they don't do something of some significance, I think it's a safe bet that they won't be competing anytime soon for a World Series championship. They've got lots of cash....they can afford it. I'd rather they spend it on player salaries than they just put the money back in their pockets,
