LSU post on R Garys most recent vist there

Zappaa, are you a LSU alumn or is a friend or family member a LSU alumn or are you a family friend of the Gary's? You seem to be taking the position of someone that is one of those things rather than someone that is basing their opinion on rankings, funding and history.

Plenty of outstanding students and courses of study at LSU. But many if not most football players there are not encouraged to participate.

"...on their own dime." [roll][roll][roll][roll][roll]

Maybe LSU will give him the opportunity to graduate in 3 years because I think he will likely be a 3 and out. We see it at many schools in the south. Schools with more frosh requirements and more rigorous coursework don't usually allow for it to happen...especially for a student athlete who will be devoting so much time to sports. LSU is a decent state school, but as an example, I highly doubt you have to take Expos 1 and 2 frosh year.

I was wondering what was taking Ed O. so long to make his move, i never felt he would end up at mich/osu/psu & wouldn't be shocked if this comes down to clemson/lsu.......lol we started recruiting this kid when he was like in the 7th grade

When recruits and their families say they like a school because of the education it means nothing. He has offers to 50 plus schools and probably 80% are better academic schools than LSU or Auburn. Point proven don't believe everything a 16 year old says to the media.

Almost any college can make their education department sound special.....they have to avoid a few stats, but doable

LSU is much, much, much more tolerable than Michigan.
I agree that if he is not coming to Rutgers, let him leave the B1G. I'm just saying that I can't think of a neutral observer that would argue LSU's academics are better than Michigan's (or plenty of other schools on his offer list).

Phd....must stand for "piled high and deep". You are so wrong. One can get a very good education anywhere. Basically much of what one gains by going to college is maturity and common sense and a broad based education unless one is going into a profession like accounting, teaching, grad school etc. And a player like Gary probably has a great future ahead of himself if he stays healthy and will wind up earning a nice loving 10x's greater than you or I or 99% of the posters here. That's what Zap is saying and implying. Wake up....

Thanks for posting what happened inside my head when I read the article/post.

Nice loving 10x greater? Is that anything like the Rascals combining with Steve Winwood to make a new musical product?

Anybody see what I did there?

Like I said, you can get a good education at the library if you apply yourself, but if academics are important to you and you have the choice you take Harvard (or the equivalent) over the library (or the equivalent) every time. What is so controversial about that?

Now if I were the Gary's I would say that my son can get a college degree anywhere, but LSU puts D Lineman in the league and our son has amazing god given talent as a D Lineman, so we are sending him to the place that will get the most out of that talent and put him in a position to make more money on his rookie deal than most people make in a lifetime.

Just don't BS me with that other junk.

Also, I have to correct your other point - On an individual basis where a person goes to college may not matter. However, on a population basis where you go to school, how many years you go to school, and where your parents went to school have everything to do with how financially stable you are as an adult. That is not an opinion it's peer reviewed scientific fact.

One of the saddest things of all, (well, to me, anyhow), is that even though Gary is a Jersey guy born and bred, and even though the Rutgers staff has undoubtedly put major, MAJOR effort into the recruitment of him, if you look at 247sports where the percentage possibilities of a kid choosing this school or that school are given, RU isn't mentioned...at all. Not even a miniscule 1% chance of Gary becoming a Knight is thrown out there. (Which, unfortunately, is probably a completely accurate assessment of the situation, even though, of course, until a kid verbals to a school it's all just guessing...and then that school's staff has got sweat it to get him to actually sign on NLI day.)

The current breakdown for Gary on 247 is: Mich.:49%, Ala.: 32%, Auburn: 14%, Clemson: 3%, and tOSU: 3%

Now clearly, Gary's recruitment is a fluid situation, and with the seeming success of his LSU visit those percentages will probably change. -But to see that Rutgers appears to not even be an afterthought for RG in this whole process is a bit of a bummer, to say the least. (Not unexpected, given the seemingly pervasive stance of a lot of top Jersey prospects towards RU, but still kind of a downer)

But hey, it's a free country and he can go to whatever school he wants. -Just give me the very best prospects out there who want to rep RU, no matter what state they're from; those who can see what Rutgers is about and has to offer, and we'll do just fine, thank you very much.
These kids WILL go wherever they want BUT I prefer that they DO NOT go into the B1G,let alone our Division.Just a little personal quirk of mine.

There are half-dressed sluts everywhere.
I dislike the word slut. Or, to put it differently, I dislike the negative connotations applied to women who get a lot of enjoyment from all things sexual, often referred to as sluts. I find such women considerably more awesome than whatever the opposite of slut would be.

Also, it's a double-standard. We judge women who like sex a lot but men can be as promiscuous as they want? That's all wrong.

I don't disagree at all. Since, barring a miracle, he's not going to be a Knight, I prefer that he goes to a school that has as little to do with playing against the B1G as possible, let alone playing in the B1G. -That said, though, the bottom line is RG's college destination is something only he has control over.
