Been a debate among our fans about which RB they prefer. I feel that both of these guys can be productive enough for us to win. But who will be the top choice for the new system? OSU's RBs were more solid built guys who could move the pile - ezekial elliot went 225lbs. Houston had a stud in Kenneth Farrow, who went about 5'10 220.

Any guys in our program that are built like this ?

lesean McCoy ring any bells?

I don't know why but I think Martin is gonna tear it up in this new offense.

Christian McCaffrey is listed 6-1, 200 pounds
Top B1G rushers behind Elliot:

Justin Jackson of NW is listed at 5-11, 190.
Jordan Canzieri of Iowa is listed at 5-9, 192.

Hicks is listed at 5-10, 204
Martin is listed at 5-11 202

We have a couple of RBs listed at 211 and 212.

Snorweah on D or O? A customer of mine in Pa. says the kid is the real deal as a matter RB but we will hopefully see it as this level as well.

Rotating 4 backs last year was IMHO ridiculous, but there is no reason that 2 very good backs like Hicks and Martin can't and won't get a lot of touches in a 2- man platoon this year. Almost every college team relies on 2 primary RBs.

Yes it was. Especially when our old genius headcoach was going to stick with that rotation come hell or high water. I really thought at the beginning of the year once they figured out the hot hand for that game they would stick with him. Nope, break a great run next series next guy up. Your series ends in a 3 and out next guy up. The same stupidity on and on, game after game. By the end of the year my section knew the rotation and would just shake our collective heads at the utter incompetence.

You and roc are correct but, honestly, I can't look back on Flood anymore. I want to keep my focus forward. He's gone, I'm glad and I am looking toward September 3.

I'm trying as you notice my 1st step is to never use that guy's name in any of my posts. It's a decompression process for me it usually takes a little longer for me to forget then most.

Sorry to have to tell you this but as long as you read the board you will never decompress from the great flood.

In the name of positivity, Im looking at the 4man rotation from last year as something that only lowered the number of hits our backs took - allowing them to enter 2016 at perfect health. The competition for reps between Hicks and Martin will make them both better, and the team better.

Fans need to understand that a new offense will present opportunities for different styled players. As much as I love the two man rotation of martin and hicks, I have to admit that Peoples has made some incredible plays turning nothing into something and Goodwin has shown the ability to plant a foot in the ground and slash through a hole at faster speed than anyone else.

Its going to be a good battle in the RB Room this year. The level has certainly been raised.

Two completely different style RB's. I think Hicks will be a better pro but martin may be suited better for this offense.

Size is not the issue!
it is quick start, jute the first man via vision and body movement and shake tackles. Now with a power spread, both will do very well as holes do develop and they break thru the line as LB/CB will be "Spread" out, so jute the first man, the runner will have more room and options.
I give Hicks the advantage and I will state if both rotate and stay healthy all season I believe Hicks will have more total yards by season end.

I've read that Peoples may not play due to concussion issues. May open the door for Sneed. On the Martin vs Hicks thing, I like Martin slightly more. That said, I think they should get relatively equal carries.

Love watching Martin running like Eric Dickerson...upright with the knees churning. Either could excel in the spread...agree that there's lots of talent there.

I wonder if they will look to throw to Martin/Hicks more on 1st/2nd down in the new offense. Both each only caught 4 passes last year, and I would love to see them isolated on a LB or DB as both have shown they are difficult to bring down after contact.

We have two really good backs....not sure which, if either, will flourish more than the other in the new system

Not sure if and where Goodwin fits in anymore
