So you see this arrest as racially motivated? Are you a fvcking moron?
I am definitely not a moron. The arrest wasn’t racially motivated. So you see this arrest as racially motivated? Are you a fvcking moron?

Unfortunately that could happen.kick these idiots off the team
The Browns brawl this weekend was one of the most violent in a while, and all actors in it were visibly identifiable. Two completely different situations. Also easier to spot a slow moving car on Livingston campus with paintballs being shot out the window than 5 fans in a sea of 80,000

Sure. Why not put them in prison too!! For life!Hopefully so.
Assuming they are genuinely remorseful and can clearly articulate that, and neither of them was already on thin ice, I think this would be a great outcome. Fingers crossed. Someone needs to take their stupid pills away from them. And papa Melton needs to get the belt out.Given the fact that COVID protocols are still in place, and grand jury proceedings are not easily obtained, and given that thankfully no one was seriously hurt, and that the incident can easily be explained as a prank gone wrong, I think it is more likely than not that the charges will be remanded to Piscataway Municipal Court for disposition as disorderly persons offenses, where a fine and community service will be meted out, and many mea culpas will be uttered by Chris and Max. Under that scenario, I think the suspensions could be lifted. Hopefully, the prosecutor will expedite the review and hopefully remand the case so that it can be resolved well before 11/4.

Then why present the possibility if that's not what you were thinking? That thought never even entered my mind until you presented it.I am definitely not a moron. The arrest wasn’t racially motivated.
Disagree completely, and it wouldn't matter if it happened to players on other teams. The blood-in-the-water mentality of online hanging judges is revolting. Doing something like what they did might warrant losing a year, which would be lifelong punishment enough, but booting them from the team (and university) isn't a proper response. I've been shown mercy in my life, and that's caused me to consider a more measured response when people fvck up.kick these idiots off the team
So racial profiling doesn’t exist? Racism doesn’t exist? People aren’t more likely to call the cops on a black make than a white male?Holy exaggeration there Batman. Have to play the racism card when there was none in this incident? Lucky that they weren't killed by the police? What world do you live in?
This thread doesn’t exist if the people shot at never called the cops. Then why present the possibility if that's not what you were thinking? That thought never even entered my mind until you presented it.
There is a presumption of NON INCARCERATION for third and fourth degree crimes for first time offenders; the exceptions to the presumption do not apply here. Having said that, if the county prosecutor wants to make headlines regarding this case it could be dragged out well beyond the season as you
I stand corrected, thanks for the clarification. If this was an aggravated assault charge bc of a fist fight with injury, I’m assuming this would get kicked back to municipal court and pled out to a DP. I’m assuming the fact that this is agg assault with a weapon, this will go to a grand jury? There is a presumption of NON INCARCERATION for third and fourth degree crimes for first time offenders; the exceptions to the presumption do not apply here. Having said that, if the county prosecutor wants to make headlines regarding this case it could be dragged out well beyond the season as you suggest.
Technically that statement is bigoted but not racist. :)“Redneck” states?
Okay, racist.
I doubt even a headline seeking prosecutor want's to piss off the whole political establishment in NJ and the RU fanbase. There is a presumption of NON INCARCERATION for third and fourth degree crimes for first time offenders; the exceptions to the presumption do not apply here. Next time for fun they should just go to NYC and attack cops, or loot, or break windows, or set stuff in on fire .. nothing would come if it.
People aren’t more likely to call the cops on a black make than a white male?
speaking about what world people live in….. some are oblivious or racist themselves.
FirnthRight. Before you fire a paintball gun you need to attach a CO2 tank and load paintballs into a hopper. It takes some time. So either they went out planning to pop a few off at some friends, or they just happened to be riding around with a fully equipped paintball gun. Foolish and reckless either way.

First date in superior court is Nov 4th. They aren’t seeing the field again this year.Lost in all this is that Max and Chris won't get to play in the Big House, which is something the players like to have on their resumes. Shitshow all the way around.
Schiano doesn't need to make an example of anyone. His credibility and authority are well established. Discipline on the team seems good. You can’t get away with shit like that anymore. Imagine the scandal if somehow it was uncovered?
Schiano will make an example of them, and rightfully so. Very selfish of them.

I think we'd have to know the motive. Was this at their friends and they were joking or was it at random people or were they targeting people on purpose for malicious reasons. Intent is important. This isn’t someone “effing up”. They shot people with paintball guns.
im arrested for this, I lose my job. What’s different?

I'm more concerned of prosecutors going out of their way to avoid all perception of preferential treatment for collegiate athletes, let alone the state university.I doubt even a headline seeking prosecutor want's to piss off the whole political establishment in NJ and the RU fanbase.
Merely because you'd lose your job for it doesn't mean I’d agree with that decision, either--we've become too much of an all-or-nothing, reactionary culture, which is partly based on how easy it is to express our opinions online in a me-versus-you, winner-take-all dynamic. That's not my approach. I don't base my sentiments about Max and Chris's situation on something that would happen elsewhere, whether in a professional workplace or not. These are young guys who will pay a price for what they did, and losing playing time and respect of their teammates, classmates, and perhaps future employers is a lot to bear. They may also have a criminal record because of it. Their screw-up doesn't mean that we should instinctively pile on additional punishments. This isn’t someone “effing up”. They shot people with paintball guns.

You can't figure that out??Really dumb, but how do these guys get aggravated assault when every weekend dozens of videos come out showing massive football fan melees where 5+ grown men will be throwing haymakers, knocking out innocent people, and damaging personal belongings and nothing ever comes of it.

To put it another way, we have created a society that demands repentance but is unwilling to grant forgiveness.
Too soft?? He suspended the players before anyone knew what happened. He broke the news. You are obviously a Schiano hater with your dumb comment !Is GS 2.0 too soft?
I feel like this would not have happened if the old Gs was here.
Don't you just miss the good ol' days where sexual harrassment was an acceptable part of society? We've gone backwards with this cancel culture!!A friend of mine in school used to drive around College Ave, stick his hand outside the window and pinch girls in the ass. He would be arrested and locked up in today's world.
This thread has run a completely predictable 2020s course! Impressive and fascinating!😱
