How many more years and millions of dollars will it take for Ash to learn his lesson on when to call timeouts? Game management, and momentum? What about recruiting? I guess if he learns one lesson a year, I can understand the 6 to 8 year rebuild comment.

We were 11 years into Schiano, and all of us still bitching about each of those questions except the last one.

McNulty is supposed to be a OC/QB "genius" also.
Doesn't appear to have added any value this year.

Watch the game film. McNulty's playcalling was decent. Execution is the issue. We don't have skill players are WR or OL that are athletic and strong that can actually execute.

The key to being a good OC is calling plays your team can execute consistently. The problem with McNulty is he kept asking his QB to throw the ball and his WRs to catch it, when he should have been asking his running QB to decide whether or not to keep the ball himself or hand it off.

I really liked Panagos and thought he was a decent recruiter. I hoped at the time Ash would have kept him.

That's it really. It's a pattern of not playing the guys who are better. No one sees anything in Gio other than we are a team that can't afford to just hand the other team the ball on a regular basis and he did that less than Art. Also made a few plays with his legs to extend drives. He is an objectively bad QB who is objectively better than the QB we started for the entire year.

Maybe playing Art pays off next year, if it doesn't he effectively flushed two seasons down the drain hoping the kid who didn't start in HS could save the program.

It is a perfectly rational gamble to start the guy who is younger and has much more upside....you hope you get him experience and that he is actually the better QB.

When he proves not to be ready, you have to be willing to cut your losses and make a switch.

I'm personally not ready to give up on Art. He needs to see the field better and feel the defense better (things that are tougher to 'fix' than mechanics) and maybe have plays called that get guys open and play to his strengths, but at some point this season, you need to play the guy that gives you the best chance to win for the benefit of the other 99 guys who are also working their asses off all year and deserve to come out on the winning end of more than 1 of 12 games.

I dont know how or why they decided playing art was the way to go, but they did that together.
