Men’s Lacrosse Played Trophy Game Saturday Night at No. 4 Princeton

Those are crazy stats. RU 8/8 on clears. 10-11 on FOs. 21 ground balls to Princeton 12. 32 shots and 20 shots on goal. Princeton with 11 turn overs to only 4 for RU.

The lacrosse world is lucky Ivys don’t do grad years. Princeton’s team would be absolutely loaded.

Tough goal to give up there on a broken play.

We really need to work for more inside shots. Our shooting is obviously horrid but we get nothing easy inside. Of course we have to can them when we do but we are going to get off 50 plus shots and might score 6 goals.

I didn’t see what happened but man, probably the biggest loss we could sustain if he is out for any length of time. Most dominant player on the field at any position by far right now.

Other turnover shot.

We aren’t winning this game but outside of shooting there is a lot to like

As I say that we blow a lay up.

The score isn’t indicative but we took a step today.

Defense was much better than last week and ball movement just overall confidence was too.

Princeton is by far the best team we’ve played. They are a legit FF contender

that is the frustrating part, we are playing will enough in most phases of the game to win except offensively, specifically shooting. Defense, faceoffs, riding, clearing are all above average. Even our offense looked a little more cohesive with better off ball movement a number of decent looks. But this could easily be the worst shooting team I’ve ever watched.

Agreed. Gotta learn from it. At any given time we have all freshmen and redshirt sophs on the offense. The shooting is part of that. Stuff that goes in high school doesn’t at this level.

We are looking for offensive leadership. Fast break and Colin shoots a sidearm off goal when you can dump that down for a dunk. Just growing pains. Offensively we are going to have to go through a lot of these. Just what it is with such a young team.

To your prior post, add to that current team English, Juengerkees and Gianforcano as 5th year's. Scary.

They should look at what OSU ran against ND today.

I’m encouraged by what I saw. We left a lot of meat on the bone offensively. All other phases are more than good enough to win. Ball movement was crisp, clearing was light years better and the guys were playing more confidently. Shooting and better selection. I’d also like to see more inside game. Austin Johnstone needs to get more run and I’m not sure about C Kurdyla at attack but I get it. We need playmaking down there. All in all more to build off of than last week that’s for sure.

I’ll say it again. That team is legit. If it wasn’t Princeton I’d give them more accolades.

Hopefully the O builds off of this and gets better shooting the ball, along with more leadership. That last part is hard with such a young on that side.

I watched that game. They moved the ball very well and their shooting was solid. Not spectacular but solid, and they had a couple of guys make really great individual efforts. I hate to give them credit but that entire program has been called into question for a few years now. Good reminder to just keep grinding.
