I think the Cincy/VT game is big for the AAC’s perception because ever since the changeover from the BE, the AAC has been almost the polar opposite in terms of bowl performance (the top team usually wins similar to the BE, but since 2014 the AAC has something like a .333 winning percentage in bowl games).
