Posted earlier in the thread some "unexpected" undefeated teams thus far. I forgot some and WSU and Illinois have fallen out of it. Here's a graphic of the current undefeated in CFB through week 5, including the ones you might expect.

A few thoughts
Portal - it's like free agency in baseball. Can't always hit it out of the park. Initially needed due to subpar recruiting due to bad record. Now, need to refocus NIL $ towards recruits, and fill in blanks w/portal. Mike isn't the recruiter Bobby and Jimbo were. Even Willy, as bad a coach as he is, was a great recruiter. Mike can't close like them. Hence, Battles End (NIL) needs to be more directed towards college kids. If we had Jeremiah Smith and Cam Ward (who were both strongly considering FSU, and who we opted not to pay), at worst, we're 3-1
Assistant coaches - Mike's loyal. Sometimes, too loyal. Needs to get rid of the dead weight and get some dudes in here. Not only coaches, but stud recruiters. Not going to name any names, but a few guys better have their resume's updated.
The standard is the standard. It doesn't change. Championships are expected. Mike's compenstated accordingly to do win. 13-0 doesn't happen by accident. But he's coaching tight. Pressing. And making decisions that don't make sense

Have not studied Norvell closely, but he seems a bit of a cold fish like Ash--and no, saying his is as bad as Ash, just saying the personality--does not seem to connect? Not bagging on the guy.
Interesting thing too. Justin Fuente had a great run at Memphis and bombed at Va Tech before Norvell.
Looks like the new Memphis coach, Ryan Sliverfield is doing well, and he is a Florida guy. Wonder if he will get a shot. That success at G5 does not always translate to P5.
The other thing not helping FSU is Miami is killing it in recruiting, and UCF is strong. Recruiting is competitive in Florida.
Mike is definitely not Bobby, who was affable, funny, etc.
He’s definitely more in the ash and Sabin mode, which I don’t mind as long as he is winning
The biggest thing holding down, Miami is Mario, but if he gets a competent staff around him, his Recruiting is supreme, and he will do extremely well there
The main thing is that Mike needs to replace a handful of assistance, and they have to redirect NIL towards primarily high school kids
Sometimes it takes these guys while to really figure it out. Dabo lost by 50 in a bowl game against West Virginia is fifth year. Could not get over the hump Bama for the longest time before winning to championships. Bobby couldn’t be Miami, which cost us a bunch of championships before he got over the hump finally
Mike is not. He’s not Sabin. He’s not urban. Those three are obviously on another level.
But if he gets things straightened out, which I believe he will, he can be right on the next level
Right on next level, Jimbo, Harbor, Ryan day, etc., which is good enough to eventually bring in a title

Yea I figured that was coming for Harrell sooner or late. Another up and comer like Aranda going through a rough patch in his career.
I think the CMU coach left because of the Connor Stallions and CMU sideline stuff. I think they knew each other from their time at Michigan.
