"Michigan State won’t see a true road game until Nov. 27 when it hits the road to take on Louisville in the annual Big Ten-ACC Challenge. Three days later, the Spartans will face Rutgers in Piscataway, presenting a sneaky-tough matchup."

"The Spartans will struggle in these first two road games, getting used to some early adversity, and they will lose one of them to end the month 7-1."

As long as our guys don’t eat too much turkey.

In all seriousness, if we can pick up a big win or two prior and get some confidence going, I see that being a good game.

Can’t wait for that first big upset to happen during regular conference play. I remember when Jordan beat Wisconsin - as much of a miracle it was - it was not a program building win but more of a freak upset. You never really felt like Rutgers had arrived.

For this team and Pile, would be a sure sign that the program was on the upswing and would make noise in the conference.

We did almost beat them twice last year. I expect a couple upsets at home this season now that we have people who can actually shoot on the roster. Let's hope this is one of them

So he's convinced MSU will beat Kansas. Interesting

EMU wouldn't be an upset.
Yes it would.

I watched that team play at least four times last season and their match up zone will likely be the toughest zone defense, possibly the toughest defense period, RU sees all season. James Thompson is a matchup problem and Elijah Minnie is very versatile. They have multiple deep shooters. I think they only lost one guy who was a significant or major contributor last season. At times, last season, they used a big lineup where their shortest player on the floor was 6-foot-7.

Don't let the directional school name or conference fool you. EMU is a touch team to prepare for, and Rutgers will be playing them 2-days after playing BU.

To constitute an upset, EMU would need to be favored and probably by 5 or more. Not sure that will happen, considering it’s a home game.

if Kansas can beat them, we should have absolutely no problem whatsoever.

Don’t forget Russ a lot of people here aren’t college sports fans they are only Rutgers fans and have clue about the college sports landscape. It wouldn’t be a problem if people would stop and realize they spoke out of turn once someone brings reality into their “analysis”.

As I was saying.

I do not understand this line of thinking at all. Kansas has a final four roster. They have a back up point guard -- Charlie Moore -- who would start at Rutgers. With Azubuike in the post and Dedric Lawson at power forward, Kansas can bring David McCormack off the bench.

**edit** I'm starting to think you were just joking @FrankZ am I correct?

Of course I was kidding. Baby steps...

We did lose in OT at MSU and Corey had a last second shot to win in regulation.

EMU opened the season at home by rallying from behind to defeat NAIA Rochester College by 10. Impressive!

MSU is loaded with talent, they are big and strong and get down the court very quickly in transition. Kansas is a tough opponent and they will be in the final 4 so it’s tough to get a read on MSU but I think they are going to be a top big 10 team.

I hope we can win as many of the non conference games as possible but we are very young with lots of new faces so it could take some time this year to develop. Be patient and enjoy the build. This is the beginning of the real Pike era.

Drexel plays EMU on Friday at 11:00am so I’m sure Pikiell and Co. will be able to do some early scouting on both, particularly EMU. St. John’s and EMU are definitely early tests and become very important games when you are trying to finish above 500 and you have a tough big 10 conference schedule.

It’s going to be interesting to see how quickly this young group comes together? On paper, I think it’s more talent 10 deep than we’ve had in a long time; maybe ever? But it has to translate in real games.
