That is not an accident. Korea did a much better job of managing the crisis than Italy did, or that we are doing.Makes a lot of sense. Although this maybe over by then. Korea is seeing big drops in number of cases.

It’s easier for Korea...one closed border to the north, water on the other three sides, homogeneous population...sane people. That is not an accident. Korea did a much better job of managing the crisis than Italy did, or that we are doing.
I'm not sure about that. I think viewers may be turned off by the sterile atmosphere.Think about the TV ratings, solid gold!
I may watch a clip on YouTube and then just turn my attention elsewhere...first time in well over 30 years!I'm not sure about that. I think viewers may be turned off by the sterile atmosphere.
People are going to make out there pools right? No issues.I'm not sure about that. I think viewers may be turned off by the sterile atmosphere.
Emotionless for you maybe. You think that the players will let this affect them? It'll be sterile and emotionless. There's no crowd to play to. Crowds help momentum, what's a dunk without the Ohhh's and Ahhh's? Just a dunk. It'll be like playing in a cavern, the screeching of the sneakers, the bouncing of the ball, the yelling of plays will be echoing through out.
so lets start the list of impact
Hospitality: Hotels, cruise, airlines, restaurants down
Sports: venue staff down
Food service down
Shipping Cargo down,
oil tankers (up as floating storage for excess oil)
Oil and gas down
Private jets up
Retail down
others?
Wow! The RU screw is so powerful it’s now expanded into all of college basketball.
There are no good options is the problem. Don't do anything and it spreads everywhere worldwide. Go into lock down containment mode and the economy is destroyed. Have to try to find the middle ground but it's just too tough at this point. We needed to contain it with testing when we had the chance.
Firing the entire pandemic team chain of command two years ago and never replacing them left the US wildly unprepared but that's another topic. We are where we are now
Come on. You knew this was coming for days if not a few weeks. It sucks but that’s life. Just need to make it next year.
It will sound like an 8 a.m. AAU game in July.
A buzzer beater with almost no noise in the arena...maybe one network will have a mix-master cranking in crowd sound effects!
I just got an email from at&t to enter to win a trip to the final 4[roll]

God hates Rutgers. Maybe we should change the name. God's a busy guy. Maybe he won't notice.
Oh come on, you have to believe the family members from New Jersey are still going to be loud & obnoxious..."I AINT YELLIN!!!!! DATS JUST HOW I TALK!!!!!!!"
Does the committee take this into account? Possible higher seed with the road record being less of a factor? So you're saying the RAC atmosphere had nothing to do with our 18 - 1 home record?
The total lack of an away fan base could actually be a significant plus for our chances.....but I'd rather be there and take our chances.
If people are self quarantined what else are they going to do? I would expect huge ratingsWhat 20K more will watch because they can't get in vs. millions watching a game now in an empty arena. Seems like a net loss of viewers to me.

Doubt it. Have zero idea what any of these folks really think .Does the committee take this into account? Possible higher seed with the road record being less of a factor?
Lol let's get some perspective. Some of you people are lashing out because they are cancelling a basketball tournament that we will most likely be in next year. Meanwhile, they have stopped treating the elderly in Italy because it's no longer worth trying to save them.
Well that just saved me a cool grand or so lol!!!
Cool story -- welcome to the Rutgers Hoops forum, where we talk about Rutgers basketball and the basketball tournament that you speak of. Take your high horse and shove it up your ass.
Would be like practice or a scrimmage.Cant image what its like playing games like this in empty arenas where you can hear echoes instead of fans cheering. Very strange.
I wish it didn’t happen but I’m happy we’re still playing
Well, they just suspended the NBA season, so the NHL and NCAA tourney can't be far behind, as I said in the post above. As I just said in an older thread on this, this obviously sucks (I was going to go to any/all RU games), but it was pretty clear we were heading this way over a week ago. I'd also add that things are about to get much worse for much of the US, including the densely populated DC-Boston corridor (and likely other cities), which means it's possible they'll actually postpone/cancel the actual tournament when there are 5000+ infections next Tuesday (likely). That's what's going on in Italy and we're not that far behind them.

Wrong. SK did not close the border with China, since they didn't want to piss off their biggest trading partner and frisky neighbor - in fact, it's why SK was one of the early outbreak sites after China. They have just done far better addressing the outbreaks, as I've detailed painstakingly in the other thread. The fact that we haven't adopted their approach of aggressive testing and aggressive social distancing is negligent and borderline criminal. It’s easier for Korea...one closed border to the north, water on the other three sides, homogeneous population...sane people.
