Thread after thread of NIL discussion. Just want to see how it's really going. Thanks. $$$$

Wow . Lots of no. The wrong attitude to have . Buy better players . Stop the stink

Stop telling people what to do!
Who are you to tell long time fanatics who can’t afford NIL or are philosophically opposed to paying players what to do.
You’re actually telling people to shut up
For voicing critical concerns and observations.

Sorry for the confusion . If one can’t afford NIL I wouldn’t expect them to contribute. Obviously, people need to get their finances in order before contributing to this semipro football
The people with second homes , claim to live in only the best neighborhoods, and won’t be seen driving a Honda Accord should be expected to contribute. There are many of these fans here, I can link threads if you don’t believe.

I don’t get the “philosophically opposed” NIL crowd. It’s not going away.

Yes
Love the concept

Still bought the wife and kids birthday presents, contributed to 401 k's, IRA's, 529's, etc.
Even paid the mortgage, electric bill, and had some money left over for groceries

For $10/month, I would think most people can afford it
It's a personal decision, and personally, I don't enjoy seeing us getting our teeth kicked in on a weekly basis

There are NO scenarios imo ….no matter how rich or poor a fanatic is where you should tell them to shut up and not voice their opinions on a college message board site.
Pony up or shut up and don’t post your opinion is what you want?

Why wouldn’t a fan with disposable income throw a few bucks towards the cause ? No true fan is pounding their chests that they don’t donate to NIL. That is worse than pony up or shut up.

When I had my own business, no individuals offered to pay for my advertising- and this is what NIL is, even if we know it’s all BS. There is still going to be a company that is benefiting from my money if I give to NIL. I would rather donate toward facilities.

Because they don’t believe in it.
Why can’t someone be adamant about their disdain for pay for play ?
How is it bad?
What do you mean they don’t believe in it ? It’s real !! Kids believe in Santa but that’s not real .NIL is real and not going away .

If they have so much disdain for what college football is why are they still invested as fans? There are plenty of other entertainment options people could opt for without disdain

When this all started, I remembered when R Hart sued to get paid for NIL on games like Madden and won. If I remember- in the class action, our son got a check for maybe 5k or so.
I thought this would be how it worked. Jersey sales, sneaker deals, gaming and some way to figure out how to distribute to all fairly if their NIL is used.
But they f-Ed it all up.
This could have been a win/win for everyone but greed is always too much.

NIL gets turbocharged and initiated from your biggest donors, grass roots efforts supplement, not the other way around. Where's our biggest donors showing us small fish the way?

Exactly. Ncaa screwed it up from the jump

If you don’t donate to NIL, please don’t complain about on field results or recruiting. You know the answer and you’re not contributing to help so there is really nothing to be said.

Continue your rants and keep asking why, why, why…you’re entitled to make your beliefs and thoughts known on this forum.

And none of that is the players fault.

It’s greed from the NCAA and member schools.
“You have to share revenue with the players if using their NIL.”
NCAA - “ok then we’re not going to renew our license then. Cut off our nose to spit the face.”

If the NCAA and schools would have actually compensated players for their NIL (sell an actual Wimsatt jersey and give him a cut) then none of this would have happened.
They wouldn’t and forced outside contracts.

I don't know about you, but the fact that something may not be going away isn't necessarily a factor in determining my philosophical beliefs. Having to accept certain things in this world doesn't and shouldn't mean that I also have to support them, or voluntarily help to fund them.

What about the coaches?
Can there be a NIL collective to attract better coaching talent?

Home heating oil is expected to skyrocket this Winter due to US govt policies recently put in place

Those in cold weather areas, including NJ, Keep that in mind.

Everyone has their own priorities.

Also, Will NIL improve the coaching at Rutgers?
It’s already skyrocketed. Paid $3.35/gallon last winter to fill our tank. Just filled it for this winter at $5.69/gallon

I feel that in the tri-state area you need at least mid-7 figures liquid net worth to fund NIL initiatives.

I’ve been giving $1,200 to the R fund for probably 15 years and my wife has been giving the same to Dartmouth.
Our combined income is mid to high 6 figures. With 3 kids in high and middle schools, I feel zero compulsion to give to RU football NIL.

I have to admit that the new NIL environment has made me less enthused about Rutgers long-term success possibilities. As a result, I have a lot less enthusiasm for RU football.

Buying tickets, parking, donations etc…have every right to be a fan.
I won’t give to NIl now or ever. If by chance, I open a local business, I will come to you to ask for my advertising budget. Or tell you not to complain.

And let’s say I did give to it, is that going to change our HC from skipping a year recruiting a QB or learn time management.

We are all fans and give as we can or maybe not at all but love the team. No one single person has the right to tell me what to do about it.

Maybe I’ll just laugh at you instead for giving your money to the same team I didn’t give it too and we are still watching the same product.
Go to Home Depot instead and bitch at him..,

One could find another entertainment option that they would be more enthused about and would be happy to support

Yes that person you describe is a fan. But why wouldn’t someone like that also throw a little money at NIL especially if it could make the team better , possibly give a could needed and deserved funds and make the fan experience better as the team gets better . By pounding your chest “I am not giving a dime to NIL” just seems very bizarre from a fan that wants to win and support the players

What the NIL org should do is set up collection boxes at every gate to collect cash at every home game. Distribute that money equally to every player on the roster after every home game. You’d get $20,000 easily for each home game. It would allow the players to get a couple hundred bucks for food and pocket money after every home game.

Yes . Just bizarre to willingly choose an entertainment option that doesn’t enthuse you or causes disdain . Very bizarre and weird decision making . But you are right.
