RU has a problem with my demographics.

I’ve given for just over 30 years and just shy of six figures over those years…and I’m almost getting tired of giving for a continued pipe dream of what we can become.

NIL just could accelerate my exit if we continue to get blown out.

What the NIL org should do is set up collection boxes at every gate to collect cash at every home game. Distribute that money equally to every player on the roster after every home game. You’d get $20,000 easily for each home game. It would allow the players to get a couple hundred bucks for food and pocket money after every home game.
Give the 50/50 split to the players that game? 😁

I’ve given for 4 decades now, but according to some we’re weird and bizarre

It’s weird and bizarre you’re moaning and groaning about donating to some coin to these kids that sacrifice a lot to play for us.
Then you want to shout from the rooftops
“ I am not gonna give you you players”

I am not sending money to professional atheletes. Wasn't the story that if these kids could sell their name, image, or likeness, that they would be making tons of money without looking for donations?

It would be interesting to see what our competitors are saying on this subject . Are the micihigan , Ohio state and Penn state fans complaining about NIL and bragging that “I will never donate to NIL”. ? Or are they trying to secure enough NIL funds to win football games ?

You heat your home with 87 octane? Where are prices for home heating oil under $3.40?

Take it for what it's worth, but I googled NJ heating oil and it was 5.39. Driving this morning and regular was 3.35 per gallon

No one has to do anything . But if a fan is doing all that why wouldn’t they give a little to NIL ?

Because a NIL is never going to be more important to me than the charities I donate to. If I want to donate $10 a month more somewhere there’s a long list of organizations that I find more worthy than scholarship athletes.

If I ran an advertising budget I would consider a NIL for an appropriate athlete to represent my business

That’s a very odd comparison.

NIL is not a charity.

I’d rather give to charities than just hand my money to people who don’t need it.
I don’t know your financial situation . But if you’re a rutgers fan you can probably find $10 a month in your budget to give to NIL . It’s not that you’re giving your last $10 to charities and you have no more money. You sound like you don’t want to give to NIL

If I gave away every last dollar I have it still wouldn’t match what I’d like to give to charity. A NIL will never be a good use of my money.

The OP asked a reasonable question to learn what people think. We don’t all have the same priorities.

Buying tickets, parking, donations etc…have every right to be a fan.
I won’t give to NIl now or ever. If by chance, I open a local business, I will come to you to ask for my advertising budget. Or tell you not to complain.

And let’s say I did give to it, is that going to change our HC from skipping a year recruiting a QB or learn time management.

We are all fans and give as we can or maybe not at all but love the team. No one single person has the right to tell me what to do about it.

Maybe I’ll just laugh at you instead for giving your money to the same team I didn’t give it too and we are still watching the same product.
Go to Home Depot instead and bitch at him..,
Buying tickets to the games in not enough. If you want to compete against the big boys you need a big boy NIL program. End of story. It’s the difference between getting top transfer players or not.

I root for my college teams primarily because it involves rooting for players who willingly chose to attend my alma mater. Players who are here only because they were bought by wealthy boosters and donors who happened to be the highest bidders, and players who'll jump ship as soon as they're offered a few more bucks, don't seem the same. The way it is now, NIL encourages more player loyalty to the dollar, and less to the school.

As long as the current system encourages and results in uncontrolled pay for play, and results in a system that allows the wealthiest boosters to have more of whatever they want, with very few restrictions, I won't be a supporter of it. Change the NIL system so that it prohibits the pay for play aspect but still finds a way to reward the athletes, and maybe I'd be less opposed. And the money shouldn't have to come from the fans.

Never will. Either forfeit your entire scholarship, room and board,
Meal allotments provided by the university and then maybe. The amount of $$$ that goes to housing, food, and a full college education in America should be more than enough for amateur players. These are amateurs. Sorry but I’ll never support NIL. If you can’t get it done as a program without it then shouldn’t be in this level of competition. NIL is a scam and will always be paid recruiting. Stupid decision to ever let it proceed.

I’d rather give to charities than just hand my money to people who don’t need it (as much).

Like the Athletic Department?
They are going to be making nearly $100m a year soon.

Hard to say they “need it”.

Wow. Sorry to hear that
Fortunately We were able to hold off until it dipped below $6. It was $6.20/gallon the week before thanksgiving when I got the initial quote. It's insane, not to sound like the codgy guy reminiscing but it was $2.60 a gallon in 2020, takes us 1 and a half tanks per winter to heat our house with a 250 gallon tank. It's going to cost us roughly $1200 more to heat our house this year than just 2 years ago... We're fine and can do it but yes, that absolutely puts a dent in whatever disposable income I have to donate NIL money and you can guarentee many others are in the same boat.

For real! I'm like "where the hell are you finding #2 oil for $3.40? I'll drive 100 miles with multiple drums and gas canisters to fill my own at that price

Look at Diesel prices. Heating oil and gasoline are completely different. Heating oil prices are in line with Diesel prices as they are essentially the same thing

I was just responding to the post that put heating oil at 3.40.

$10 a month means nothing with NIL. Stop thinking small time. Ask $100 a month or don't bother.
That's actually incorrect. Think of it this way, right now Rutgers has just over $400k in their NIL collective, Rutgers has somewhere in the neighborhood of 20k season football ticket holders, if every season ticket holder donated $10/month, our NIL collective would grow by 50% overnight and 6x what it currently is in a years time. That's simply STH's donating $10 a month.

Because they don’t believe in it.
Why can’t someone be adamant about their disdain for pay for play ?
How is it bad?
Because there are a lot of very dense people on here who are so dug into their position that they can't understand the rationale and valid counterpoints that have been spelled out to them already so clearly. Time after time.

I don't know about you, but the fact that something may not be going away isn't necessarily a factor in determining my philosophical beliefs. Having to accept certain things in this world doesn't and shouldn't mean that I also have to support them, or voluntarily help to fund them.
Agree. What a senseless argument and completely irrelevant to the point

Wait, you think coaching is why Pacheco is doing well and not because he’s not getting hit in the backfield on every run? Lmao ok
You have a weird way of twisting words.
No, it's because they did not utilize him properly. Exhibit A.
Exhibit B: RU's Mickey Mouse QB game plan of rotating QBs all game long and within series
Exhibit C: No TE involvement in the passing game
Exhibit D: No over the middle routes.
I could get to Z and start over at AA, but I will not.
