Good to see they think they can get the money and break ground this year on a $100M facility (part non-athletic) but we are struggling for a practice facility.

NJIT

"More NJIT sports fans will likely be able to take the family to regular
home games a few seasons from now, thanks to a recently approved events
center that school officials say should be added the the university's
campus by 2017".

If you can find more than 50 NJIT sports fans in the state, I'll give you a yummy.

Says they are going to fund raise $50 million dollars

Where is the other $50 million coming from? And NJIT can raise $50 mil for such a sports facility and we can't raise a dime.

Fantastic!

kenpom has them at #177 and we are at #192..

i hear the NJIT message board gets snow forecasts better than ours too

Only 20 percent is for athletic use.

20 percent of $50M is still better than 0 percent of $0M

You have to appreciate the timing of it all.

Yes, but I don't think the sales donor pitch for NJIT was "give us money for basketball", which is what ours is right now. Rutgers has raised an enormous amount for the school as a whole, but our basketball project isn't being lumped in with the rest.

True to an extent. Isn't the Athlete's Village a collection of sports?

There's a reason the basketball practice facility has been considered to be part of that "package." Bottom line is, it might be easier to raise funds for it, that way, than just pitching "men's basketball." Unfortunate, but true.

But where is the information on the "athletes village"?

I too would like to hear about progress on Athlete's Village and that's supposedly coming in the spring.

I have no problem with it as long as something gets announced and people come on board.

A fan base with no hope is a bad thing.

It's not unfortunate. As long as we hear about some progress on the project and people willing to come on board. T

An announcement is coming in the spring, reportedly.

A fan base with no hope is a bad thing.

I sense a new meme here on the boards:

"X local NJ school is building a new sports facility and we're not?!"
